TL;DR: "We're French. We needed to do something new. This shouldn't be surprising."

I didn't realize that there was a longer interview.

I would have actually liked to hear from Guy-Manuel, although he probably would have simply characterized some version of his time of being an artist to have ended.

Good to read, nothing surprising, still have to admit I'll forever be heartbroken.

My guess is that there is going to be some sort of listening party for the RAM 10th Anniversary release this week.

That would have blown my mind. If I had a mind.
"We going up!" and then pogo for the stars
"why yes, yes you are crazy and I love you for it!" Whirly

Have heard the bonus trax, Prime absolutely deserves to find its place on RAM, maybe as the another bonus like Horizon? Or as the album closer if the Contact wouldn't be the one
Infinity Repeating is pretty nice too, would love to hear the further developement of it.
Vocoder test is fire, actually better than the song they tested those lines for XDDDDDDDD
Where do I start?
Where do I begin?

I'm absolutely impressed with the video. Very well done.

Still a heavy emotional pain associated with all of this.

It's like attending the longest wake in the history of music.

I need to stop obsessing over that Olympics opening ceremony now but there's just one thing...

Besides the "Eurozone" dance section, all the music in the opening ceremony was in some way French. (Ok John Lennon's Imagine isn't French but it was performed by a French person). There was no Daft Punk.

They didn't forget to include any DP in that opening ceremony; that was a decision. Wasn't it?

Clearly DP were considered, but apparently they said no.
Of course even if they said: "Yes. we'll reunite for this thing, maybe the closing ceremony", it would still need to be reported as a "No", otherwise:
1) The ceremony would become a (one-off?) DP reunion gig, and wouldn't really be an Olympic ceremony anymore.
2) It would ruin the surprise.

Will we get a surpise DP performance at the closing ceremony? I have no idea.
But I will speculate that there will be some sort of DP-centric performance/experience in the closing ceremony. A long dance sequence with hundreds of dancers perhaps, or some sort of spectacular montage. Gotta be something.

Meanwhie I liked this guy's imagination:

IT'S MORNING TIME!

I hope they make a an appearance in some fashion. I'm not saying they owe it to the fans, but it would be an obvious missed opportunity. They actually might draw more unwanted attention and negative speculation by not doing it, rather than just putting it together for The Olympics as a one-off. Obviously that's unfair for Thomas and Guy, but that's the nature of the beast when it comes to celebrity.

To add more speculation, didn't I see Pharrell Williams in Paris too? 'Get Lucky' doesn't exactly fit a theme for the Olympics (imo), but it's hard to reject his attendance as some kind of sign...

I'm not sure what would be less surprising - that they were asked, or that they decline.
