Under The Influence 2015 acid line questions

I'm wondering what's doing the two acid riffs... Yes two ! If you listen closely, there are two different sounds. One at the start, and one much more distorded during the break where the vocals from The Test pop in.
I would say this one from the break is a sample (since I think it has always been exactly the same on all of the videos I've seen/heard), and the rest is played by the Future Retro Revolution. But listening to the recording from the korean festival, at the end you can hear the riff is played with two oscillators. It could be an effect doing this, but if it's not the case, then it can't be the FR Revolution, since it only has one oscillator...

Biff, I'm curious to hear your view on this ^^

Definitely a FR Rev on the main. The other one might be a sample, I don't think I've heard variations on it. I might be wrong? But both shows  I went to it sounded the same.

I'll listen on my break at work...

Yeah, i was wondering about this too.
I think it's just 1 or 2 analog filters in sub mix.
Hi Kevin!

Sample? Next parameter? I hear a harmonic additive towards the end on the Korea recording. I do not know what the capabilities are, but wouldn't there be a way to quickly switch presets with a button, like with an MPC? Or am I just in la-la VST land?
i love chem bros omg!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maschine controller operates only with samples loaded in Maschine VST that is hosted by Ableton. MIDI, that can switch presets/patterns comes from Logic.
Hi Kevin!

I listened to the Glastonbury recording. I think it's all the Revolution. There's a distortion switch on it that might explain the change in character/volume, maybe it's turned on/off. Also I heard some echo, which the Rev has built in. But unless there's another recording that shows a different example I'm fairly certain it's all the same.
The pattern changes, but that's very easy on the rev and sounds like they're getting nice use out of the sequence remix feature, which is worth the $$$ for the synth. Too bad it's not made any more (there is the Orb).

Can be true.

No, it's definitely a sample during the break. It's the Revolution, but it's recorded. I agree that the variations on the sequence are the two "remix" knobs of the Revo, but they're always exactly the same and very neat on all of the recordings I've heard. If you have or had a Revo, then you know it's hard to get the remix knobs doing exactly the same thing each time.
And you can hear the live Revo continuing behind the sample on the Korean recording (and now that I check, also on the Glasto soundboard recording).

The Revolution does not have presets, you can only save sequences

I've never had a Future Retro or Revo in my hands, so I know shit about them. But it seems that they play a second layer over a presumably pre-recorded acidline, I would guess. I mean, they have all the midi and audio in sync so they could drop in a synth just as they please.

I think my reply from Matt Cox in the other forum on the live setup answered this question. There might've (erroneously?) been a sample of the FR Rev played over the actual live one.

Well, that appears pretty consistent with the article about Matt where he explains the various
mapping methods and midi synchronizations and all that. In that, he also says, that the chems sometimes doing things by mistake on which they experiement if they like what they hear. So maybe they liked the second layer that came out and now it's a happy acccident sort of thing.

Hey, would anyone of you Tech-buffs be inclined to write a small article about Matt's and his work in the Q&A section?

Yes but it's not a backup synth, it's played all the time. It's like the Juno playing  over a sample in Chemical Beats.

Definitely ! It should be around 500€. Just be careful when you buy it, check that the battery has been changed, and that the effects don't crackle
