So with a grammy nod, Rolling Stone UK album of the year, and quite a few remixes featured with FTBF, does anyone other than me suspect an EP in the near future to cap/hype this era?

I have to imagine there is an unmixed version of "Feels Like I'm Dreaming" that they want to put out. And yes, let's get that Gerd Janson extended remix out on a physical platform. Erol Alkan, too!


Not to mention that "something new for EBW13" that Tom teased (hopefully)

I wonder if we'll gonna get some more FTBF releases, kind of dub self-remix/alt version of the songs like we've got with a few previous albums (well, technicaly we've got The Darkness and Skipping).

I reckon we'll see a 2CD Japanese Special Tour edition release sooner than later...
Fairly similar to the Born In The Echoes 2CD Japanese edition, I wouldn't be surprised if Universal JP release all then recent extended versions and remixes on the second disc *fingers crossed*

But a RSD release would be bloody lush too ... 

The new version of Wide Open would be great too

1) The YouTube algorithm decided to offer me a Candace Owens video - for reasons I haven't quite worked out.
2) I watched it anyway!
3) The title seems overly clickbait-y. I don't know why it would be "black women" in particular who would dislike Swift based on this info. More than one YouTube comment under the video says "it's not just black women who despise Taylor Swift".

Anyway the mostly factual stuff between 4:15 and about 9:50 is what caught my attention.
I didn't realise that Swift's own dad - a finance guy - owned 3% of Big Machine, the record company in question. But googling the words taylor swift dad big machine does indeed confirm it, and tells us that Dad - Scott Swift - made $15M from the sale of Taylor's original recordings.

Anybody noticed that the small drumpattern from Magic Wand starting at 0:30 sounds exactly like the small pattern around 1:35 in Studio K?

So what do we all think of FTBF 8 months later now that it's had plenty of time to settle in to their overall discography? The album still feels fresh to me and I have it in pretty frequent rotation on my phone/in my car.

The album has dropped ever so slightly in my estimation as the new sheen has wore off but I still sit it about level with "No Geography" at a solid 8/10. I still find it sweet that this album received near universal critical acclaim, even if it wasn't a big commercial success.

It's still really strange to me that pitchfork media didn't review the album. Maybe I'm further out of the loop of than I'm aware of, but I fail to understand why they have basically covered every album in their career and just ignored this one.

And if that wasn't strange enough, Anthony Fantano ('theneedledrop' on YouTube) didn't bother to review it either.

One might say they had nothing positive to say about FTBF and spared them the damage.

But then you have at the end of 2023, Rolling Stone UK named it "Album of the Year". Backed by an already good amount of reputable positive reviews at release time.

To answer your overall question, I think my opinion on FTBF is the same from release (which was very positive). It's their best album since Further.

My ranking of albums 6-10 for me something like this:

1. Further
2. For That Beautiful Feeling
3. No Geography 
4. Born In The Echoes 
5. We Are The Night

So far, it's pretty much what I'm used to with their music: the magic just doesn't wear off even after the umpteenth listening.

I'm so glad you have asked this - it has been something I've been thinking about lately and I was curious to know if anyone has grown closer or further from this album. I agree there has been a good amount of settling-in time. :)

Right now, this album gets a lot of rotation in my world. I feel oddly, deeply connected to it in ways that are not explainable (at least, I don't think I would make sense if I tried to hammer out a review). I find this album has seasons and look forward to how it makes me feel, as we come full circle in September. 

I don't really spill my guts here on the forum these days, I've become a bit less mouthy and a bit more private and hermit-like I guess. But... the Chems always seem to cosmically get it right when it comes to album releases. I don't know. It's weird. Their albums seem to always come at a time when I need it most and this album hit on a day when I had run into sketchy patch and thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. For That Beautiful Feeling got my first listen shortly after midnight September 8. Just me and my headphones and my comfortable bed in my womb-like bedroom. I don't know what happened through that first round, or what planet I was on, but I was a solid 30 seconds into Live Again when I thought, oh shit, wait a minute here we are again...? Was I in some sort of trance? So I thought, OK there's no turning back now - may as well give For That Beautiful Feeling another round. Anything to take my mind off of reality. I was a mess at the end of that second round.

There was a brief moment of fear early on in the back of my mind, that once the hype and new album excitement died down, I may have negative emotions tied to For That Beautiful Feeling... I'm still here and I still love this album. I've yet to tire of any of it. It's a different season now, and For That Beautiful Feeling is along for the weird twists and turns my life's ride is taking me. Skipping Like A Stone holds the promise of sunlight on my face even when it's a cloudy day. I can feel the flush of blood coursing through my veins when I hear Feels Like I Am Dreaming - it conjures up the memory of hearing this for the first time, in the largest gathering of people I'd been in since before the pandemic. Reminds me of... Makes me think of... makes me feel like... I could go on and on, as each song (including the jarring Intro) hits on *something*. 

I am terrible at ranking their albums but I can say For That Beautiful Feeling is the best for me since Further.

I haven't exactly been gripped by this album. im somewhat confused by it because I know it is a good album, but yet I have only listened to 10 maybe 15 times.

I think the issue is it's not really doing anything particularly new. It is very much No geography part 2. 

I have really enjoyed the era, both the printwork dj sets, Royal Albert Hall, paused in cosmic reflection and  the book talk. But I have just not gelled with this album.  I also cant get to grips with the chems being a festival headliner/arena size act. I don't enjoy the large show as much as I did with the theatre sized venues.

They will no doubt return to do venues like Ally Pally etc again i think

Arenas are just a bit crap in general to be honest. Souless (and the o2 is £9.50 a pint now! thieves)
