My Case for We Are the Night

I enjoy reading the different perspectives and opinions on one of my favorite albums but have to say WhiteNoise's beautifully vivid post has my heart ❤️

I love We Are The Night and I played it until I wore it out. The album sort of closes the book on a particularly exhilarating yet difficult and bittersweet time of extreme highs and lows in my life. For a time after that point it was a bit painful to sit with We Are The Night all the way through. I remember listening to We Are The Night with my full attention and intent for the first time after a very, very, very long spell - and it felt like reconnecting with an old friend I hadn't seen or spoke to in years. In listening to it that time, I realized how much I leaned on the album back then, and how it helped see me through. We Are The Night might not be the most critically acclaimed Chems album of all time and I can understand the criticism. For me it seems in hindsight, what makes the album special is the emotional connection I had with it.
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
