Haven't had time to listen to listen to it, but there was a Soulwax/2manydjs Essential Mix yesterday:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08q3223

According to the announcment, the first 60 minutes is music exclusively created for the mix.
Wow that's great ! The mix won't play on the BBC website for me for some reason. Here's a Mixcloud link for anyone that has the same problem https://www.mixcloud.com/BBCEssentialMix/soulwax-essential-mix-20052017/

Some of those new Soulwax tracks are awesome ! My favourites are at 7:10, 24:20, 37:10, 41:58 and 56:40

Yeah, someone uploaded this a few weeks ago, it's excellent !

I actually remember seeing this years ago when it first made the rounds streaming on some webzone.

Fuck me this brings back memories.

Soulwax's Christmas Desert Island Disco

It's Lauren's last show of 2017, so we mark the occasion with some favourite tunes and moments, and a festive mix from Soulwax.

Since the creation of Soulwax in 1995, David and Stephen Dewaele have consistently pushed the boundaries into new and innovative territory. In addition to Soulwax, the brothers continue to tour the globe as 2manydjs, have their DEEWEE record label and studio, Radio Soulwax - a visual radio station and app, and the Despacio project with James Murphy.

Their last album, FROM DEEWEE, was recorded with their band in one take at their studio in Ghent, Belgium. They played in session for 6 Music at Maida Vale earlier this year and, of late, we've been thoroughly enjoying the beat-filled beast of a track that is Is It Always Binary?

The Soulwax brothers follow in the footsteps of The Chemical Brothers, who shared their Ghosts Of Christmas Past, Present and Future mix in 2015.

Remember this? I didn't give it a good listen at the time but I should have. Damn, it's good. How did this end up on my hard drive? Did one of y'all rip it? Did I rip it from Mixcloud? Maybe I did. Anyway it's no longer on the Mixcloud link in Ben J's post, nor is it on Radio 1's page. And this is probably why:

Only 12 tracks? Not 14 like on the 'original' version?

*EDIT* It's still on Soundcloud though:

Some of these were really short and were fill-ins, so I hope it's those track that are removed. I really hope Essential 13 is not removed because it was the best !

Oh yes, I definitely remember this. I will definitely get the CD :)

This is funny. Going for a 1980's Top Of The Pops vibe. I reckon the presenter dude is meant to be a cross between Radio 1 DJs Mike Read and Peter Powell. They even have the 1980's Radio 1 logo at the end.

Essential is out today.

PS: Isn't it funny how Soulwax left a gap of about 12 years between Nite Versions and From Dewee, but then managed to create Essential in two weeks whilst From Dewee was still a current album? It's almost as though they just needed a good kick up the arse to make a new album.

IT'S MORNING TIME!

They also released a new Waffles vinyl. This track is sweet

I'm trying to figure out the differences beetween the original radio version (mixed) and today's album which is unmixed. 14 tracks Vs 12 tracks. What's missing?

The only extra music I can ID so far (from the original Radio 1 mix) is right at the end.
Using the mixcloud HERE, the track that plays from 54.15 to 56.40 is called "Essential 12" on today's album release, so it's the last track on the album. Therefore the music from 56.41 to the end of the mix (1hr,44secs) is not on today's album release. That's four minutes of music which, I believe, is one track.
So that appears to account for one of the two missing tracks. I have no idea where the other missing music is. If in fact, there is any. I wonder if they re-calibrated the tracks so that two tracks from the original mix have been smooshed into one track on today's album release?

It doesn't help that the album release is unmixed whilst the essential mix was obviously mixed. So the track timings are different (you also have to ignore the opening 1.46 on the mixcloud which is just Pete Tong shizzle).

I tried checking Radio 1's page which has little preview clips. Except the clips for Essential 1-14 are actually all the same clip ("Essential 5", going by today's release) so that didn't help.

In fact I wonder if Radio 1 completely f***ed up. Perhaps there were only 13 music tracks and they counted the "Hello this is Soulwax" intro as a separate track (it's part of Track 1 on the album). Having said that, I know Radio 1 lists that intro as separate from Essential 1-14 but maybe they also counted it as Essential 1.

TL;DR? I reckon the original Radio 1 mix actually had 13 music tracks, not 14. One track is missing from today's album release: the final four minutes of the (first hour of) the Radio 1 Essential Mix.

Essential 13 and 14 were a track they've been playing live for a few years. I guess it's the only one they didn't create for the Essential Mix and therefore doesn't belong with the rest of the album. Still, it's a shame as it was my favourite track of the mix and has been haunting me ever since Soulwaxmas 2012 :

Thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying this record. I never listened to the essential mix so it's all new to me. I love it.

So you're saying that the last four minutes of the Radio 1 Essesntial hour = track 13 and track 14?

The songwriting is a bit limited, but to be hit by an hour of Soulwax grooves (and they're diferent from From Dewee as they used all their instruments that they didn't use for that album) is like a Dyson dryer to the face.
