And the next DJ set this year!

The Chemical Brothers will join Carl Cox at his residency at the UNVRS Nighclub in Ibiza, on August 31st:

Not related, but Carl Cox just canceled his Red Rocks date this October due to "Production Issues".

Reschedule next year with The Chems!

Back to topic. Hoping we get some good clips Sunday. Chems really been frequenting Ibiza more often over the last couple of years...

Just going over the Ibiza clips on instagram and they played this again:

Must admit, this is a standout for me too! But as @Wolkenkrabber discovered it's :

THAT is Fulu Kolektive & El Mopepe "Nfuka". I can't find it on YouTube, but it's on Bandcamp. Jump to about 2:40 to hear the bit from the clip. I think the Chems have re-edited the track (and improved it for the dancefloor).

Among the clips, someone from side stage captured the (presumed) new track "Ring the Alarm". And as the camera pans over the crowd, it was pretty subdued... uh oh!?

I think they played it just after Free Yourself. I guess it's the one Chems track the crowd doesn't recognise amongst all the bangers. But it's possible that they just don't like it. I'm not sure how many people on the forum like it besides me (and BTW they had been playing it for a while before I flagged it up in the Japan thread). It is admittedly quite stop-start and maybe lacking a killer riff/hook beyond the vocals...

I said Nfuka was on Bandcamp but not on YouTube. I was wrong; here it is:

A little list of tracks in the Insta stories:

lack of acid
Do It Again (original, not the new remix)
HBHG kink mix
ring the alarm
Nfuka
Superflash
EBW7
GTKO
star guitar
all of a sudden/ too much weed...
swoon with No Geography spoken vox
free yourself

EDIT:
Am I the only one who thinks of this Sesame Street character when I listen to Nfuka circa 1:33 to 2:15?

Haha! Too funny. I was going to say the same exact thing if anyone followed up with any interest.

That fierce cookie monster vocal really makes the track. I gotta imagine Tom and Ed would love to utilize that in their own work. I actually checked out the full album where "Nfuka" came from, and it was surprisingly pretty good!

That's just Ibiza - you'll have lots of people just waiting for Carl Cox and just as many just filming stuff and not dancing. Especially further back.
Live: Latitude 2021, Field Day 2022, Kalorama 2022, o2 Arena 2023
DJ: Fabric 2021, Printworks 2021, Printworks 2022, Glastonbury 2023, Drumsheds 2024

I was listening to Carl Cox's Essential Mix on BBC Sounds which turned out to be Carl Cox at [UNVRS]. An "all vinyl" set, supposedly.
During the mix, Pete Tong popped up to tell us you could also watch the mix on BBC iPlayer. So I watched it on my flatscreen last night, and it looked pretty good. Professionally filmed by the BBC, with more camera angles than Boiler Room. Oh and the podium dancers are kinda nice too.

I think this might be (?) the same night that the Chems played, because Cox finishes with Do It Again (Massano mix) which I think he did when they played at UNVRS. No sign of The Chems in the video, but there is another Chems track in Cox's mix: HBHG. It is listed on BBC Sounds as being by The Chems, but I ain't never heard this version before - and nor has Shazam (it's not the KiNK mix). I guess you could call it an Acid Tech-House version(?). My hunch is that this is actually a re-work/re-creation by Carl Cox (or his ghost producer).

You can clearly see that DIA is NOT being played on vinyl at the end of the set - because there are no records spinning on the decks. I'm pretty sure HBHG ("Carl Cox version") is not vinyl either - we see one record on a deck which Cox is messing around with -but HBHG doesn't seem to be coming from that. I guess neither track was available to Cox on vinyl unless he was going to start pressing up acetates specifically for his "all vinyl" mix.

If you're geo-blocked from iPlayer, good news: the BBC have posted it to YouTube.
HBHG (Carl Cox Version) mixes in at 1h,16m,50.
DIA is at the very end: 1hr,57m.
If anyone here is unfamiliar with Rave classic, Vamp by Outlander (sampled by The Prodigy on World's On Fire) please jump to 1hr,41 !

Oh and I know what you're thinking: Why couldn't the BBC have done this for the Chems as well as Carl Cox?

So the HBHG remake turns out NOT to be by a ghost producer, just by a producer that most of us haven't heard of. It's the Horatio & Operator Max Remix (unreleased).
Horatio has about 700 followers on Twitter but has 187k followers on Instagram. Quite a difference.
It seems that Carl Cox has played a few of Horatio's tracks in his sets recently.

Speaking of Chems tracks popping up in Essential Mixes, an even more recent Essential Mix from Girls Don't Sync features Galvanized Dub - credited to Girls Don't Sync themselves. A two-minute DJ weapon chopped up and sped up, featuring snippets of the original Najat Aatabou vocal. From about 1hr,21 to 1hr,23 below:

Oh and Arthi used a minute of this dub in his Essential Mix too. Crediting it as Galvanize (Girls Don't Sync Dub) by
The Chemical Brothers.
