I'm sure that I'm not alone in this, but I recently just learned about "Bicycle Day".

Quote
On April 19, 1943, Hofmann ingested 0.25 milligrams (250 micrograms) of the substance. Between one and two hours later, Hofmann experienced slow and gradual changes in his perception. He asked his laboratory assistant to escort him home. As was customary in Basel, they made the journey by bicycle. On the way, Hofmann's condition rapidly deteriorated as he struggled with feelings of anxiety, alternating in his beliefs that the next-door neighbor was a malevolent witch, that he was going insane, and that the LSD had poisoned him. When the house doctor arrived, however, he could detect no physical abnormalities, save for a pair of widely dilated pupils. Hofmann was reassured, and soon his terror began to give way to a sense of good fortune and enjoyment, as he later wrote:
Quote
... Little by little I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux ...
... thus, "Bicycle Day".

Anywho, the reason I wanted to introduce this thread is because I figured we could maybe discuss and post art and musical creations that were influenced by psychedelics. I mean, if it's not obvious to you by now, The Chemical Brothers certainly fall under this category.  However, "no comment" from me, on The Chemical Brothers actual... usage.

Tom Rowlands' - "Late Night Psychotronik Mix" (DJ MIX)

The Beatles - "Tomorrow Never Knows"

Donovan - "Hurdy Gurdy Man"

The Chemical Brothers - "Hoops"

Hooveriii - "Destroya"

Keep it rolling y'all. Maybe a little a little Acid Trip will save us from the impending WW3...

although the greatness of Screamadelica is in danger of beating beaten like a dead horse by the recent years of reissues and anniversary celebrations, something would be amiss if the following were not mentioned in this thread.

Higher Than The Sun has always struck me as so wonderfully textured and off-beat, unbound by expectations. it's a beautiful composition that demands my full attention every time, getting lost in a journey it takes me on as the vocals drop out and the song continues in an alien-sounding jam.

the band even felt compelled to include two versions of it on the album, another unusual and open-minded move. (I've always been torn as to which one I prefer. both justify their own existence and prominence.)

the band's discography is littered with more great examples of psychedelic inspired music, but this to me is the most relevant.
