Fingers crossed for Pacific Coast Dates
This festival has kinda taken over from Field Day in London's Victoria Park, and yes look at the line-up so far: Chems, Primals, Hot Chip, Spiritualized all on the same day.
£72 per ticket is more expensove than Field Day, mind you...
The festival is a Goldenvoice production (people who run Coachella).

UK ones are in the YouTube video description that announced the album name & tour dates. I didn't read them properly and thought it was 2018 they were listing so didn't follow up on it, just thought it was very short notice

the more the merrier
Anyone been to a show at the Greek recently? The ticket price is listed as $39.50 to $124.50. Is $39.50 going to be some crappy spot at the back? Is there a general admission / standing thing?
Trying to get all the info I need before I present the 3 day Chemstravaganza as a concept to my wife.
Both LA shows are, again, linked to Goldenvoice. Coachella is definitely out (radius clause), but that missing New York date could be attached to Panorama Festival 2019, another Goldenvoice production.
The SF show says it's going to be on pre-sale Dec. 4/5 at 10 AM (password: block).

I've never been to the Greek but the price range seems about right. Cheaper tickets further back with more expensive having the better view/closer proximity to the stage. I don't think there is general admission but I've been plenty wrong, plenty of times!
This will be interesting to coordinate!

get there early.it will fill up fast. ditto on parking too (and its a bitch) but there are nearby parking structures though. seating is concrete, so bring a pillow if you plan to sit down, but you will probably be likely to stand and dance your ass off for this show. if your closer to the stage, you will definitely be standing (room) but will cost more (thats why you have the 39.50 to 124.50 price range.)

I like being in center but pretty close to the stage. But I would definitely prefer to have all of us together. I actually got excited thinking about this for the last couple of days and can't wait to see each and everyone of you in person again.
Obviously, whatever show you guys and girls go to, it's gonna be a bigly meetup.
Sometimes I laugh because half the time we meetup, I try to call you guys and girls by your real first names but instead call you by your usernames :)
Edit: And for those of you lurking this post and haven't registered in this forum because your new or a noob but want to come to any of these shows, please come on in! We would love to see more of you and support the band.

This is exactly what I thought when the announcement came. I'd really love, if it's not a big imposition, to be in the same spot as some of you guys. Whether that means getting tickets at the same time or something, I'm not sure, but I am certainly planning to attend all three shows and would love to make all three of them a special, special time.
Feel free to add me on Facebook if that's a better place to arrange things? Or slide yourself into my DM? Whatever floats your boat.

We will for the SF and the Shrine show since you can move about and find your spot for the show.
As for the Greek, you can pick your ticket or where you want to sit. The only place in that venue where there is no physical seat is in the pit! The pit is just your regular standing room area and can fit up to 200 people and its the closest you can get to the stage. the Pit area WILL BE the most expensive tickets to get for that show and they will sell quick because that area is always in demand.
I confirmed this by calling their box office earlier today. The lady I talked to also said that some PIT seats might be available for the the presale.
good luck to all!

Once the news broke about these new tour dates, all the attention went to the North American dates on the forum. Are all these arena UK fall dates a bit overkill?

This isn't entirely accurate information. So here's some more tips to help with your ticket search...
The Greek Theater doesn't have concrete seating. It's your standard fold down seats through the entire bowl except for two or three rows of bench seats in the very very very back behind section C. Compared to most amphitheaters, the pit is actually quite narrow. Leaning on the back rail of the pit at most you would have eight or so people between you and the stage. The front of section A can't really see over people standing in the pit but for a show like this everyone will be on their feet so it won't matter. The inside edge of the side terrace seats can be pretty great. You can be closer than B section and they're usually significantly cheaper. Don't go far out on the terrace--you'll see the stage but the back will be obstructed. They always release a handful of tickets at every level in the presale.
There's also VIP tables between sections A and B. Usually those seats are sold directly from the venue.
Parking can be annoying, but if you prepay you can get one of the lots that doesn't stack cars for significantly less than the drive up price. I usually go for lot B. They also have some park and ride options if you prefer. There are no parking structures at all, so not sure where that came from. There's a couple small paved lots and the rest is on grass.

My bad! :o
I made the mistake of accidently pulling up the info for the seating from the other 'Greek' theater located in Berkeley Calif! Sorry for the confusion, especially to Enjoyed (I yield I yield)
TIL there are 2 Greek theaters in California!
Thank you dancefreak for the clarification! And for the extra tidbits for a better view! Will definitely look into those terrace seats if the pit area is not available. :)

To be honest, not sure where I plan to be at the Greek. The pit is not likely for me (would rather try my luck getting closer in a general admission setting) but I also don't want to be too far back or way off to either side, either. I can't believe the date to get tickets for these shows is nearly upon us!

I always have this little feeling of nervousness when you get to the checkout screen for your tickets online. Reminds of that Hollywood Bowl show where I didn't have luck on tickets on the pre-sale but got better seating when tickets came available again. So far I've had some luck with tickets to shows, but come to think of it, I might pull the trigger early for the first available ticket that's available to me for the Greek show because I just wanna secure a spot at this venue. I too Whirls want a good seat but I don't want to be offered tickets that I feel wouldn't be a good view to me, but at the same time, If I get the ticket now, will better tickets be available later? Like Dancefreak said, they always release a handful of tickets at every level in the presale, so hopefully you'll get the perfect ticket for you and your husband.
At least this isn't Coachella right? We all got 3 shots to see the Chems instead of going to a festival, but the Greek might give some challenge.
When do these go on sale again? Also is there a central show we're all aiming for?
I don't think it's gonna be financially worth it to go for pit spots at all at Greek but I'm thinking Shrine Expo is worth lining up to get a great GA position for that, and I'm planning to at least attend two (whether that's both LA shows, an SF and LA, or all 3).
I liked how last year I got to see one show up close (Sonar) and one further back (North Coast), first for the intense experience, and one to take in the lightshow as a whole. So for LA alone I'm thinking Shrine Expo is the up-close gig and Greek Theater is the take-it-all-in gig.

Pre-sales start December 4 at 10 AM for all American shows. For Bill Graham Civic Center pre-sales start December 4 and last til December 6.
Expo Hall (https://www.axs.com/events/365566/the-chemical-brothers-tickets?skin=shrineauditorium)
Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (https://www.ticketmaster.com/the-chemical-brothers-w-special-guest-san-francisco-california-05-17-2019/event/1C005570CC1D8225?camefrom=CFC_ANOTHERPLANET_web&brand=anotherplanet)
Greek Theatre (https://www.axs.com/events/365564/the-chemical-brothers-tickets)
Price ranges for Greek Theatre are ridiculous by the way. More than $120 is shameless. Is this a small venue?
I just remembered I've vicariously been to a spoof version of the Shrine Expo in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and went clubbing to the likes of Kool and The Gang's 'Hollywood Swinging'.

I like this idea a lot. Especially as it would both save money at The Greek and, arguably, be the more impressive venue to really appreciate in full. Would B be far enough back / reasonably priced enough?
As for Shrine. There's no price range, so is it just a case of getting in early for better seats? Rather than paying for it? I forget if anyone gave any details about the venue but is it a similar deal to The Greek, with seated areas that will be mostly abandoned in order to dance?
Am I right in thinking we still don't have any more information on the pre-sale? Are we expecting those details to arrive in the emails? It's really not that far away!
QUESTIONS, and subsequent apologies for so many of them.
Judging based of aerial views of The Greek, and my experience at other seated amphitheater venues. I would try and attempt for the back section of section A. The pedestrian walkway/VIP section that separates A from B, can be a distraction for your field of view and take away from immersion. The remedy for this is sitting further back in section B, but then you're running a risk of reserving yourself close to a very distracted part of crowd.
That being said, I have no clue what price these seats are. But I figured, I would share my 2 cents.

all standing room! been there many times (my last show there was Portishead)
For me personally, it looks like a small venue from a distance but don't let the size fool you.It can fit alot of people and still have enough space to move about and pick your spot. Same for the balcony! Its reminds me of a very long reception room where you have a wedding (at least thats my impression)
I've had some good encounters with people I bumped into,so its pretty much a friendly crowd at the most.
So will there actually be a US album+presale thing or was that all a tease..?

Thanks Errol!
The three LP is hefty! I wonder if it's numbered!
My question is will this be the only way to get an access code for the presale tickets or is there another to obtain an access code without the purchase?
3LP is nearly 2x the amount of Regular 2LP. That must be some high quality packaging...
Was Born in the Echoes 3LP the same amount as this? I got mine as a gift so I don't recall the pricing on it. I wanna say it was ~ 50 GBP. And the only incentive beyond 3 heavy weight vinyl, was hand numbered lithograph.
Either way, feel like fans who purchase the "exclusive box set" should be incentivized a bit more.
I know we are moving away from physical releases, but being that the 3LP is basically supporting the lifespan of such a practice. How about pairing it with a limited 7" single of the 1st single from the album (in this case 'Free Yourself'). I think collectors and fans would be pretty happy about that, let alone you'll probably move the product quicker.
Thats a great idea Bosco, I mean both vinyl releases are pricey for those who want the physical release. Adding some extra incentives to the pile would help justify the pricing.
a 7 inch FY? Bring it on!
Ended up doing 2 CDs + regular vinyl for 3 pre-sale access codes
One CD will be opened, the other left in its packaging forever
So, I booked a week off work for the Chems California Bonanza! I never request time off that far in advance and my boss of 13 years asked if I had something fun planned. Oh yeah! ;D
Anyway. The logistics of getting to San Francisco from LA will be interesting! A friend suggested South Cal-to-North Cal caravan, but we might just fly up instead.
As for LA, I'm really looking forward to the Shrine. More opportunity to enjoy the show together. Greek is more take-it-all-in, as suggested previously! :)
Will one pre-order give pre sale access to multiple shows? Or do I also need to get three copies like Geoff?
I know we're all really anxious to secure tickets, but I think we all have some really thick rose colored glasses if we're thinking these shows sell out right away. My point is, I don't think pre-ordering the album to secure a pre-sale code is necessary. The exception would be to get an early look at what they are offering for the Greek Theatre which has assigned seating. But otherwise, this isn't a Black Friday mad rush like we all fear. Tickets will be plentiful. The ticket marketers' pre-sale, or the official on sale date should be more than sufficient to secure your tickets.
That being said, I understand peace of mind, and heck! we're going to buy the album anyway! I'll buy one of the excess CDs off y'all if you don't want it.

Hello.
Please, let me know if there are plans for a concert by The Chemical Brothers in Poland? If so, by what date?
No plans yet.
First German show announced for July 2019: Deichbrand Festival in Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony.
https://www.deichbrand.de/line-up/artist/the-chemical-brothers
July 18th is a prelimenary placeholder date until the actual date is announced.
Oh, they've made an advent calendar on site with the announcements, sweet :)
why a festival show? why?
Patience, I'd assume this is not the only one.
Do you guys think that this it for US dates in 2019? Does anyone think they'll be back at some point in the summer? My wish/thought is that they will be playing Panorama and Lollapalooza and maybe a few other dates after that show in July in Germany. Fingers crossed for Lolla, especially since they have never played it before. They need to come to Chicago!!!! Going to travel to see Shpongle at their final show at Red Rocks in May and would hate to have to sell those tix to travel to San Fran or LA since I was just there this summer.
I want to believe there will be more US dates. But I personally don't think it's wise to count on it. As an example, looking back to 2005 where the North American dates were very limited.
Quote2005 April 27th - The Premier, Seattle, WA, USA
2005 April 29th - Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center, Oakland, CA, USA {Opened for New Order}
2005 April 30th - Coachella Festival 2005, Empire Polo Grounds, Indio, CA, USA
2005 May 3rd - Salón Mexica, WTC, Mexico City, Mexico
2005 May ???? - Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, CA, USA { Private(?) Event for Microsoft }
2005 September 16th - Ultra NY, Central Park, New York City, NY, USA
They played Seattle, Oakland, and Coachella, only later on announcing a return to NY later in September for Ultra New York (when that was still a thing). No Midwest date, no stand alone LA date and the Oakland show they played, was in support of New Order. Every tour from 2005 and on has been extremely modest. So yeah, I can't say I would count on anything else coming. It sucks, but it's not exactly new.
If they do make a return to Chicago, I really hope we are not reserved to another festival date. I mean I'll take it, but Lollapalooza is last on my list in terms of the festival choices they could play. I would be a great fan of Riot Fest trying them out, otherwise, just put them on the rink-a-dink stage for the umpteenth time at North Coast, and take my money already.

I want to believe there will be more US dates. But I personally don't think it's wise to count on it. As an example, looking back to 2005 where the North American dates were very limited.

I was pretty amazed they got Prodigy a few years ago, but they do have more of a aggressive vibe to them that is perfect for that fest. But man, if Riot Fest did get them, that would be something. I hear ya on Lolla and North Coast would be a nice easy in easy out thing. Who knows, let's just hope they come through in some capacity.

What would the possibility of further stadium dates being announced? I'm currently going to Leeds but may book one of the others (probably Manchester due to proximity)

You mean UK arena shows?
If I were a betting man I would put money on them adding Glastonbury to their UK dates for 2019 but nothing else. Unless they decide to do another indoor London gig at the end of the year (but they just played Alexandra Palace x2 recently and will headline All Points East in May).

Thanks bro, I would go to a festival show (glasto, APE) but generally prefer arena shows.
I've pretty much narrowed down the second show to Manchester or Birmingham.
Cheers!
Glastonbury really is another beast though.
Easily the best Chems show I've been to (so far).
Not sure how likely one would be to secure a ticket at this point though. Has the resale happened already? Or is that an April thing?

Really? Resale us in March so I might give it a go. My wife is already going. I've only seen the bros at 1 festival (they were cancelled at gatechasher summer sound 2008 due to bad weather) and it was at sw4 in 2016. Dobt get me wrong, the music was as good as ever. But they were the last and only act for the festival that night. It was super cramped and really unenjoyable. It really put me off seeing a favourite artist, that and the fact the sets are slightly short has me believe stadium tours are far better. I'm not knocking it festivals or anything - I just had a bad experience. I'm very much open to be persuaded that festival shows are just as special :music
Glastonbury is always more a special thing for them. Longer sets, a seriously appreciative and energetic crowd. I remember being surrounded by people who we're having the time of their life. And I went by myself and still had the time of my life.
You know they're going to do an incredible job with the sound too, which I can't say has ever been the case for any of the park-in-the-middle-of-London festivals I've ever been to.
Best of luck with the tickets if you do try! And if it's your first time, hit me up for some recommendations of things to do! SE Corner at 2/3am is a magical thing.

Ready!
Second Mexican date added. Another festival https://www.coronacapitalgdl.com . May 11th.
Fun little lineup. Not sure how Goo Goo Dolls fall in place, but, OKAY!
The Chems mentioned there might be an extra UK gig to be added in their recent Lauren Laverne interview. Then when she said "Glastonbury" they said, "maybe two". So they must have been thinking a possible Glastonbury and a possible...Creamfields.

For what it's worth, Panorama Festival in New York is not happening this year. (https://pitchfork.com/news/panorama-music-festival-isnt-happening-this-year/?verso=true) Considering they've been signing up to do shows by Goldenvoice, there goes a logical New York date.
Point being, and I know it's still early, I think CA/MX dates are all that North America is getting.
:'(
Maybe Woodstock 50?
It's the weekend before Creamfields. Doesn't seem like a fit though based on what type of artists they claimed to want to book for it.

I'm just looking at that gap between the Deichbrand Festival on July 18 and
Creamfields Festival on August 24 and wishing so hard that Lollapalooza in Chicago tapped them to come and play. I know it's highly unlikely but I'd hate to think that those dates on the West coast are the only US dates they are going to play in 2019. All my friends in Cali are going and it's killing me.
Has anyone heard anything?
I would imagine the cost to book the Chemical Brothers is the budget for a headliner at Lollapalooza (Chicago). I doubt they're willing to let them headline.
Lollapalooza isn't interesting enough anymore to think outside of the box anyway.

Lokerse Feesteen 2019 (https://www.lokersefeesten.be/en/line-up/)
I like their description. They do sound pretty excited themeselves!
QuoteWe've had some pretty impressive live shows at the Lokerse feesten in the past, but the show and production The Chemical Brothers will throw at us this year, will take it to a whole other level. They're definitely the indisputable headliner of the Lokerse Feesten 2019. Their reaction to our booking request? 'Yeah... why not?' Well, the local fire fighting and emergency services know exactly why not, because Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands will simply blow the Grote Kaai away with their ruthless beats scoring 12 on the Richter scale. We can't say they didn't worn us because they have promised to treat us to a spectacular show on Friday 9 August, with songs from their new album 'No geography' (2019) as well as other live favourites. Don't miss out on the show of the year, you won't know what hit you.

Is anyone going to the All Points East gig? Still on the table for me and the wife but flight prices are climbing, so we'll see..
One a side note, having only seen the Chems once at the o2 Wireless Festival in 2011 (was anyone else there?), do their festival shows differ much from their stand-alone ones? How will the All Points East compare to San Fran, for example? It's hard to imagine the festivals ones aren't at least a little stripped back.. Not that this is a deal breaker

Well, from my experience and what I observed in recordings is that festival gigs usually have a different encore (often no TPPR or other epic closer, in many cases BRB) and are a bit shorter, depending on the festival. Their standalone shows instead often offer more flexibility in terms of structure, so those would feature a unique tune for instance in their encores (like Das Spiegel, The Pills, Wide Open etc.), which is particularly the case later in their tours.
But there's no general rule. Like, when I went to their show in Germany in 2016, it was a standalone one too. It was an outside venue at a channel with a natural habitat and there was a time constraint of how long they could play at loud volumes, and thus we missed out on the Reel that would have been played otherwise without a doubt.

Gelsenkirchen?
Quote from: Csar on Apr 05, 2019, 07:55their show in Germany in 2016
But the Gelsenkirchen gig was also like a festival gig in terms of playtime. When I think back to my first experience with them - those concerts where massive. The second time I saw them live was on the Flip The Switch tour (first time was the Bizarre Festival '02 gig), and they where on stage over 2h => first part was 1h, second part 45min, and third part was another 20min

In the past years, festival shows were usually ~90 minutes in two parts, ending with BRB, whereas stand-alone shows are ~120 minutes in three parts, ending with TPPR. As Csar mentioned, there were a few exeptions to this (those that I remember at the top of my head: Gelsenkirchen 2016 where they played the short set, I think there's some TPPR footage of a festival in Italy in 2015, the Apple Music Festival in 2015 where they played a shorter third part and of course the mysterious second gig at a festival in spain in 2015 with a super rare live appearance of Reflexion).
If you have the option, I'd go for the stand-alone, but if you for instance like the whole festival feeling and experience or there are other bands playing which you're interested in then that preference might change.
Bottom line is that either way the gigs are amazing and I've never regreted attending one :)

I took some pictures at the Saturday show, the first one (sometime during Go) has a timestamp of 21:03, the last one with the "Love is All" visual has 23:01.
So two hours is possible, at least if you include TKN. Net playtime (without
fag breaks Reset and Recentre) is shorter than two hours.

I think they played in Seoul back in 2011.
Ah, the show will have acid noises! I've been spoiled!!
I already had spoiled everything at all. And this time I don't worry about it. Other way round, now I know exactly how cool everything will be.

Just got myself a ticket for the Birmingham show :)
Any info on why venues still use printed tickets? Print-at-Home is so much less of a bother.
Do they have the CB logo on there? I still cherish the one from Prague with it's glorious big font.
By the way, the All Points East show is probably scheduled for 9:15 PM as per this site.
https://www.timeout.com/london/news/going-to-all-points-east-heres-an-exclusive-look-at-the-stage-times-052019
Nothing yet confirmed though, They're pretty late in that regard, the festival starts tomorrow.

Don't know, I just ordered the ticket yesterday, it will take some time before they will be sent out (I think the Ally Pally tickets for last year were sent out in late summer/early autumn).
All Points East was good. Just good. It was the worst crowd experience I've had at a Chems show, completely packed, stuck in a corner of barriers. More than half the time I was crushed against people and couldn't even move my arms... Even worse were the people asking me why I was backing up on them or pushing them. Dude, did you look around?
I think because of that I didn't enjoy the show as much as I should have. The new setlist has some awesome moments (Hoops/Dig Your Own Hole, EoD come to mind first), and I love the new transitions, it feels like it flows better than the other years.
The Gravity Drop segue was particularly good. No The Universe Sent Me is a big big disappointment... How could they leave out such a track, and keep Wide Open? All in all, it was not my best experience, and I think the setlist could have been better.
Quote from: Ben_j on May 25, 2019, 08:16All in all, it was not my best experience,
Had a similar , ' not great experience ' when i went to see The Chemical Brothers headline Creamfields 2011 , it was the weather . . it rained relentlessly hard all day & into the evening , the Creamfields site was a muddy bog , did enjoy most the set , but bad weather does kill the atmosphere of an outdoor event somewhat. In contrast seeing the Chems at BlueDot Festival last year was fantastic , beautiful sunny weather , amazing crowd & atmosphere , epic Lovell stage sound-system with the Lovell Telescope in the background , quite special. The Birmingham Arena date should be a good one if you can make it , i've seen them there before , it's indoor , plenty loud , good stage , and you wont get squashed , it gets busy in the standing area at the front , but to get a bit more space just move back a bit , you see the visuals better there anyway . . . sort of middle of the standing area , that's where i normally locate myself.

Exact same experience for me. The show was great but the over-packed mostly wasted seeming crowd took away from the overall vibe for sure.
I've only seen the Chems one other time, at the O2 fest in London in 2011 and the crowd was 1000x better at the one.

Oh yeah, I didn't even mention it because it slipped my mind, but it was pouring rain until about 3mn before the set started! Luckily I had a hoodie, but all my clothes and shoes were soaked .
And I also forgot to talk about it, because the not so good overshadowed the good in my mind, but I met with Foxboy and Brian "28 Chemical Brothers shows" Sweeney! Hanging out with these lads is always a pleasure 😃
Sorry to hear All Points was as bit so-so, Benj, ActionJackson. Annoying crowds, and bad weather to boot, certainly take away from the anticipated fun. That's why I'm not a particular fan of festivals (though they can be awesome, too, no doubt). But a solo live show for any band is always superior since people intentionally come for that one band and bring the right spirit. I am glad that meeting Foxboy and Brian could elevate the fun-factor somewhat.
Is it possible that Tom & Ed (and anyone else who might have been involved in setlist choices) didn't think TUSM would be so well received and thus omitted it from the setlist?
The tracks that made it in from the album are the singles, the title track (they get to reinforce the name of the album to a crowd of people) and the album closer, which makes the whole thing feel like a 'No Geography' tour. Gravity Drops is the one exception, but it's only really a glimpse of the track and is still kind of used as more of a filler.
I only ask because there's clearly a lot of disappointment that it isn't included, and I wonder if this could be a reason. They were obviously working on the setlist long before the album came out and before they had any truly substantial fan feedback. So maybe it's not the big 'fuck you, fans' that some people seem to be thinking it is?
As much as I am disappointed it's not here, I kinda understand why they would leave it out. The set is already packed with NG tracks or segues. Only TUSM and WGTT are left out, I don't think they ever played this many tracks of a new album in a set before (Further opening concerts excepted). I'm hoping they change things up a bit at the end of the tour and maybe include TUSM. Or they could include it in the future like they did some tracks in the past. Wide Ope. Was not part of the BITE tour so there's hope.

That's unfortunate. I don't know whether tickets from there are legit for this gig . The venue's website promotes ticketmaster as their seller to which I linked on the first page of this thread. A bit of an advice is to always check venues' websites first or the Chems' officially provided links for valid ticket information (or this very live topic of our's).

Between this and the line about fortysomethings and modern rave girls...Chems gigs are definitely becoming more existential. I'll attest to this considering I'm approaching mid-30s and considering the changes since my mid-teens with regards to my chemical life.
Also interesting to hear a Cornish perspective having been in a relationship (and still friendship) a girl from Coverack in the past.

There's no thread for todays gig in Sofia / Bulgaria (or i'm blind) and i don't wan't to open one for one question.
Ed has postet an Instagram Story from the rehearsals for this show (here's Ed's Insta => https://www.instagram.com/eddyboysimons , don't think it is possible to link stories directly) and i'm highly interested in what tune we hear in that clip. Must be some kind of seague, maybe from or to Galvanize, but there's also some vocals in there that seem to say "chemical brothers" or something
Should i listen to that Creamfields recording linked above again and i hear that short sequence?

A little disappointed there haven't (apparently) been any new ideas developed during the month off showing up in the Bulgaria footage, but if they're keeping this tour going into next year then I imagine there's still plenty more runway for that sort of thing.
As I think I've mentioned before, the history bears out that Chems live shows are usually at their best when they have a reason to stay on the road and keep refining things, so this has me really excited - especially since I can say from personal experience that the No Geography show as-is has been one of their best pre-encore setlists ever. Plus, like with my previous example of them keeping the WATN tour going to promote Brotherhood, the function of the tour's probably going to shift towards the Surrender boxset at some point, with attendant nostalgic deep-cut additions a la "Nude Night" ("Let Forever Be" more than once ever, maybe?).
(But please, guys! "The Universe Sent Me"! I love "Escape Velocity" but it can give up its spot for awhile! Just put a different verse of "The Golden Path" on top if that's what you're concerned about!)
I stalk this forum in the shadows.

This absolute invariance of the show makes me remember how The Prodigy did shows for a several years in a row. It adds fuel to the fire knowing that Tom & Ed have just announced some shows for 2020
I basically haven't seen the brothers at their own gig (non festival) since London Olympia.
Got tickets to Manchester and was wondering what people's thoughts are on if we will get a proper 2 hour set with encores etc?
Really dont want them to finish on BRB like at all this years festivals. Surely we get Sunshine underground or TPPR?

They will definitely play an encore, they always do at arena shows

(Unless your arena happens to be in a neighborhood so posh that the whole thing used to be a tennis court (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=West_Side_Tennis_Club&oldid=911153724), just fyi)
Favourite encores:
6. Her Jazz
5. Nude Night
4. Buzz Tracks
3. Let Me In Mate
2. Dope Coil
1. K.D.B.
I'm flying to Paris tomorrow for the show. Very excited. Packing right now while I'm writing this.
Already reached out to Benji and got a lot of really priceless Paris advices. Probably saved a lot of $ too.
I'll be at 4:30 pm in Paris so I'll have like 3,5 hours to get to the hotel and venue. Really hope my flight won't get delayed.
My 4th gig, 2nd non-festival, 1st indoor. The previous one was in Barcelona 2016. It's about damn time 8) :music
Have a blast, Kosek, and safe travels!

I managed to look through some Instagram stories and can confirm dig your own hole survived the cuts! I also spotted a weird MAH outro so who knows what they did tonight!
It appears one of the new recorded visuals were for Catch Me I'm Falling too, but no word on what the wormhole visuals are.
Really happy UTI is back in full swing, Hoops always feels like a transitional thing, not a set piece. And it suits the george and mildred better.
Aww gutted I'm not seeing them now end of the month
Spoiler
The wormhole is the new visual for Got Glint and the idea of extending the screen with the lights looks fucking amazing! Can't wait to see it live!

It never ceases to amaze me how nuanced Adam's and Marcus'visuals are matched with the music. You can always spot certain elements being reflected in, like literally, lights' flickering, animations on screen etc. So much fun to watch and go "ah".

cool nod, even if it's by coincidence.
I'm just back from the Paris gig, and it was a blast ! One of my favourite Chems show. The best thing was I HAD SOME ROOM TO MOVE. The complete opposite of All Points East where I was crushed during the whole show.
The spoiler posts above give out the new stuff, but here are my impressions:

The MAH => EML transition with Bango is awesome ! Thankfully I had not seen it so it was a surprise for me. Fun new visuals too, and the "Bango Bango Bango" vocal on the intro of EML is a great match.
I'm glad UTI is back instead of EBW6. The synth on EBW was not great and UTI just works better.
The new visuals for Got Glint are awesome, they remind me of the old EBW7 visuals with the vortex. I wish they'd add colors to the lines and lights at some point, it would make this even more perfect and psychedelic. And the mix with Catch me I'm falling at the end, wow! Cool new visuals for Catch me as well.
I really wish they'd ditch Wide Open and never bring it back ever, it feels like such a wasted spot, where they could play The Universe Sent Me or maybe something from Surrender, to celebrate the 20th anniversary... Oh well
Finally, they added a synth and beat at the beginning of TPPR but I'm not sure it works... There's nothing like the vanilla version!
I have some videos coming, but sorry in advance for the sound quality. I tried out my new phone (Pixel 4) instead of the Lumia and the verdict is the Pixel 4 microphones are shit.

That's a vocoded Hope Sandoval!! They sampled lyrics from "Asleep From Day"
"I like the stars in the sky
And watch the moonlight go by"
Gotta admit I'm not psyched about Under The Influence 2015 coming back - it always struck me as kind of an unsubtle EDM-festival take on one of their nightclubbier tracks in service of the Giant Prop Moment it had to accompany, and switching it out for "Hoops" made a lot of sense to me - but I guess that was the version of the show I got to see in person (https://youtube.com/watch?v=mMRSqTVIZHk) so I can't really complain.
Other than that (and the increasingly dispiriting absence of "The Universe Sent Me") it seems like they put their attention where it was most needed across the board: the "Bango" interlude is a fun, weird one-off musical/visual moment in the vein of TUBA (https://youtube.com/watch?v=B1wGwa6Us54) that patches over one of the weaker transitions in the set, vocodered "Asleep From Day" is there to remind us they're sorting through the Surrender tapes, and "Got Glint?" and "Catch Me I'm Falling" have proper (& properly gorgeous!) visuals instead of just LASERS EVERYWHERE and theft of the proprietary "Surface To Air" ballerinas.
(Speaking of which, the cool new "Got Glint?" bit was first seen in "Block Rockin' Beats (https://youtube.com/watch?v=8aGhkI2Ojk4&t=0m48s)", which is usually just a pulp of unused visuals from previous versions of the set, so here's kind of a reaching theory that extends from when I first noticed it: this began life as the "Star Guitar" visuals that Adam says they scrapped, and LASER technology has now caught up to the point where they can pull it off to everyone's satisfaction.)

I'm not sure we got this in Paris. I didn't pay too much attention and thinkn we had the Timothy Leary quote.
Coming back on my remark on the sound of my videos, it's actually very decent with good headphones, only Catch Me I'm falling is over saturated. But still it would have not been with the Lumia
Am I right in thinking MAH>Believe is completely replaced now?
Milan tonight! Haven't seen the Chems live since 2005. Gonna be fun!

Ha, switched from my Lumia 950 to a Pixel 3a (the 4 is to expensive right now) one and a half weeks ago - and i already miss the Lumia more than my purse misses money.
Paris was indeed a blast. Blast on the Chems... And on the streets...
Definitely best show yet. They keep pushing it to the extreme. I love the setlist, transitions are perfect. So are the visuals.
UTI - DYOH Is the best segue ever. The new addition to Hey Boy Hey Girl from psychedelic mix is awesome. It needed a shake up like this.
It's been 24 hours and I'm still hyped. Can't wait for the next one.
Wide Open still melts my heart. I need to hear this live myself one day.

You know, I'd also like to vouch for "Wide Open" in the setlist (since this is apparently a point of contention)! I think it's the best amped-up live version of a track they've ever done, the blue-tinted Further visuals are a great fit (after they removed - again - the proprietary "Surface To Air" ballerinas and it no longer felt so crowded), and its current spot in the setlist makes the second half of their festival set feel more like an encore for the poor audiences who don't get the real one (myself included (https://youtube.com/watch?v=mMRSqTVIZHk&t=8m07s)), in addition to being the best lead-in they've ever had for the notoriously tricky-to-segue "Galvanize". It's a major part of why I consider the No Geography tour to be probably their best pre-encore setlist ever.
(Though admittedly its presence does contribute to Born In The Echoes being the most-represented album in the subsequent album's tour since Surrender on the Come With Us tour - an era when all that was required to make room for the new stuff was cutting "Flashback"(!) and moving "Got Glint" to the encore, along with excising like 8 minutes of "Chemical Beats" - and even then the cut I would've been inclined to make was "EML Ritual", which they just put a lot of effort into making feel more necessary. Can't complain.)
I absolutely loooove Wide Open in the set! I'm disappointed they seem to have taken out the Don't Think vocal sample though. I thought that was a perfect fit.

I know it's not the UK, but they just announced a gig in Ireland next year.
Yes! Ha, I did see that yesterday Sneaker, thanks :). But, it may still be a stretch too far unfortunately. I'm trying to recall previous UK tours, have they always sold out? If so, have they ever added any more dates as a result? I mean, I am sure there would be a demand for it.

Hey Ben! Good to hear you had a better show there. I know you've been critical in that last show due to the crappy crowd and amongst other things, but hopefully this one made a huge difference for you. I really hope they pull some 'Surrenderish 20th anniversary' tracks at the next shows. It would be just fitting and some great closure for this tour.
Oh and glad The Chems brought back the original UTI with the robots! I guess that means that the robots are now back to hanging out for more than one minute unlike the shows I went to this year.

They brought back Under The Influence and Got Glint, so there's that, but I wish they'd play The Sunshine Underground instead of Escape Velocity, it would be 4 Surrender tracks, which would start to feel more like an anniversary. And why not squeeze Music Response in at the end too ? They did play some loops of it briefly a few years ago, so why not ?

I couldn't agree more Inchem,The Sunshine Underground remains one of my top faves, and whilst Escape Velocity is always going to be worthy in any set, I would happily see it replaced by TSU!
I'd be excited to have some new visuals for TSU also, I quite liked the old skool Woodstock visuals when they played it live.

It's stylized katakana Japanese (Japanese has 3 subsets of letters, katakana is often used for foreign words like such).
It says "フリー・ユアセルフ" -> Furi Yuaserufu -> Free Yourself.
