2016 is almost other (finally...), what are your music highlights of this year? (albums and tracks)

Maybe  my  ear(s)  haven't  been  listening  to  the  scene(s)  as  much  this  year  ,  but  my  favourite  immersive  headphone  moments  2016  probably :

Clarke & Hartnoll  -  The Echoes
Dusky -  Ingrid is a Hybrid
Roots Manuva -  On a High

Edit: Plus  ,  Underworld  -  If Rah  ( for  some  reason  thought  this  was  from  2015 )

Disappointed  with  recent  albums  from  Max Cooper  ,  Daniel Avery  ,  but  looking  forward  to  possible  new  music  coming  through  in  2017  from  my  usual  heavy-weight  favourites  ,  The Prodigy  ,  Leftfield  ,  and  of  course  The  Brothers  (chemical based).

So much Avalanches - Wildflower.

The Orb - Chill Out World is quite lovely.

The three tracks off DJ Shadow - The Mountain Will Fall that don't suck are awesome.

I'm actually about to listen to both the new De La & Tribe albums tomorrow.

I saw The Cure, Diggable Planets, and Prophets Of Rage this summer.

But REAL TALK TIME:  2016 was the shit of all shit years.  We lost Lemmy from Motorhead, Phife Dog, George Martin, Sharon Jones, Leonard Cohen...AND Bowie AND Prince.  The universe has lost every bit of its cosmic sexiness.

Gonna try and do this quick,  holidays hours have me locked down and I need to go back to sleep.

I echo the same sentiments that Born In Planet Dust has to say about 2016. A lot of big time names that are not musicians also passed away including Gene Wilder, Garry Shandling, and Alan Rickman to name a few.

Top album: Underworld - Barbara Barabara, we face a shining future

Top song: M83 - Solitude

Top Concert: Underworld, Fox Theater - Oakland; April

Totally forgot about 2016 concerts, which were amazing:

The Chemical Brothers (two times, at the Zurich Open Air and in Germany, where we had the delightful Forum Meetup)
Digitalism (ditto two shows, one in Zurich and then in Vienna)
Soulwax and 2manydjs (both on one day)
Amanda Palmer (just her with piano and ukulele in a three hour set, when she announced that she'll return to Vienna with a band called The Dresden Dolls I had tears in my eyes)

It's strange how best album this year, for me, comes from the far East, from the pen of Yoko Shimomura, and it's Final Fantasy XV soundtrack
It's been a long time since something gave me so much joy as this album did, especially Valse di Fantastica, that plasters silly smile on my face every time I hear it
Between Bowie passing (oh Ramses, will Sun ever rise up again?) and Nick Cave's terrible tragedy, I have few good things to say about 2016. (musically), although I'm sure that's not fair to 2016. 'cause I didn't listen to much of new music this year
I can hit cheeky lizards if I want!

Hmm. There wasn't much new this year that i've listen to. It's 99% old stuff that's feeding my ears throughout this not so good year (all the shit going on on this planet, all the people we like who pass away).
no idea, no idea
