Too bad there isn't a whole album option in the poll.
Galaxy Bounce and Hot Acid Rhythm 1
Especially Tomb Raider Galaxy Bounce
Star Guitar, always was and will always remain the most beloved Chems track.
UPD. Aaand, CWU is my favourite album BTW. Have three copies of it, European (UK), Russian, and Japanese with cardsleeve (Modern Masters release).

Hm, tough to choose just two tracks from this great album. I went with The Test (as I can never really skip that whenever it pops up) and My Elastic Eye. The latter is a hidden gem in my opinion. The vocals, drums, and the Tic Tac Nocturne sample just go so well together.
Galaxy Bounce is a close third (esp. its Tomb Raider version like you guys mentioned, that intro!!!). It's an effing funky banger.
Note to pollster: Where's EBW 5?!?

Was thinking about including this or not, went with not because the difference between EBW5 and Afrikakakakakakakakakakakaka is in my opinion not big enough. Same with the two Galaxy Bounces. EBW6 and Hoops differ more.

Yes, i'm totally with you. But if you could only choose one i think most went with SG, and more (or even the complete album as one answer like Conn6orsuper117 requested) answers would be to easy. I voted for SG and HAR1 and wished i could also vote for CWU, Test, Hoops & PS - but it's not possible so i had to made some tough decisions.

I had my mouse hovering over both, but for me personally, Star Guitar and EBW6 define that era. But yeah, I was sorry to see the style of tracks like Galaxy Bounce and Hot Acid Rhythm 1 fade away.
Am I wrong thinking it probably should be noted that 'Come With Us' (the album) was an end of the era for a lot of fans? I remember it being the ugly duckling of the bunch when in comparison to first three albums. Accepted, but not nearly favorited by the masses. By the time 'Push The Button' came, it felt like a new era was born and a lot of old Chemical Brother fans jumped ship.
It's hard to fathom this album is nearly 20 years old. Apart from Star Guitar, really wish it wasn't neglected from live setlists.
BTW, I picked Star Guitar & Hoops
I'll be the one guy fighting for The State We're In, that song has slowly grown as I've gotten older to be one of my all time favorite Chems tracks. I just wish we had a single / compilation version of it somewhere so I could put it in playlists and mixtapes without the whole Denmark ending.
That and Hoops, which I think is one of their best "in one song, this is what the Chems do" songs. It's so diverse and colorful and organic and electronic all at the same time.

absolutely true, i remember those days. people already frustrated with surrender for its ``cheesier'' dance music vibe. then cwu appears and it's all,
where are the breakdowns or songwriting structure?, or
too much trance, or
too pop music, or whatever. many just wanted — and predicted, after surrender a return to — dyoh. the big beat diehards..seems to me that the genre really slipped from the public consciousness after the matrix trilogy.?
All this time I thought The Duke was like an Exit Planet Dust era song
Also should Silver Drizzle be added?

Booklet from "Singles 93-03" says recorded may 2001. Maybe they startet years before that with this song, but final recording was during CWU

sounds right. Attention shifted towards the "electroclash" scene before anyone knew "big beat" was gone.
Records like Overseer's 'Wreckage' and Crystal Method's 'Legion of Boom' were "Big Beat"'s swan song. The former being the only one really worth checking out, btw.
Going back to fans jumping ship post-Come With Us... it also should be mentioned that "The Golden Path", a perfectly great single, got dragged through the mud by some fans because of carry over from CWU.
I tweeted at the flaming lips to play golden path before seeing them in 2017
the track got played while setup was happening lol

Oh, i totally missed on Silver Drizzle. It knew it's a behind the couch track, is it from the CWU-sessions? If so, i can edit it into the poll.

Yes! I have to say I've always loved the track and the transition works on the album. But I am still hoping for that clean ending....it's never coming. :(
The transitions on albums are uniquely wonderful, but sometimes a b-side edit would be awesome.
Defo The Test, absolutelly the strongest vocals from every chems tracks
We're rolling up to 20 years since the release of Star Guitar. I'm not certain of the "official" release date, but if I recall, music videos typically would hit MTV in advance and promo releases would be sent to radio stations, before the "official" physical release. So the celebratory date rest between late November to January 14th (according to Wiki).
Anyway, any chance for a special anniversary release of their Magnum Opus? Or, can we anticipate some type of special anniversary album for 'Come With Us'?
I know they did limited Star Guitar prints (late last year?), so I'm not looking for anything like that. Maybe a comprohensive single/EP type release including Temptation/Star Guitar live or newer live mixes used over the years? Colored and or special designed heavy weight vinyl? Some Swag?

But yeah, I'd defo want to see some special editions for other albums too, especially for DYOH and EPD

It's also quite an achievement that you've put nine albums out and you haven't really released a proper stinker at all. But if you had to put one at number nine, which one would it be?Well only because you're asking me and I'm not volunteering this information, but I would say maybe 'Come With Us'? But then 'Come With Us' has 'Star Guitar' on it...
I know yeah, and 'Hoops'.And 'Hoops', it does have some really good tracks. It was a strange time and I wish 'It Began in Africa' had just been released as a kind of standalone track, I think it sort of dominates the album. So if I really had to say a nine it would be 'Come With Us'. But I think it was because we had to follow those three albums. They always say the difficult second album – it's a difficult fourth album...
It's really strange that Ed feels that way even to this day. Come With Us is such a wonderful album and the 2002 live tours were one of the greatest.
Granted, it took a while for me to appreciate it the way I do today. Because, at the time this closer-minded young self was hunting just for Big Beat and breakbeat music and this album didn't meet my expectations at all (with some exceptions of the title track's short drum-fill, Hoops and the Test). But the more I explored music more openly, CWU became better and better with each listening. And that happend with so many Chems tracks that weren't strictly breakbeatish and all that jazz. I think it was even the second album I bought after Push the Button (the year I got fully invested into the Chems) because of the Test.
I'm not gonna lie, I was never a fan of It Began In Africa either. I much rather have Base 6 or even Hot Acid Rhythm 1.
Come With Us is still not their worst album. Born In The Echoes gets that award.

Same! But later, my mind changed.
I think CWU was when the big sea departed! On one side, the fans who wanted the similarities and the original 'chems' formula from the previous albums, left! While the other side remained and embraced the creative change the chems took.
CWU is for sure the specific one, but oh god... The Test, or mentioned Hoops, Star Guitar, CWU, or It Began are great tracks, let's also not forget about My Elastic Eye and Galaxy Bounce

I could gush more about this album, but you guys basically have heard it all.
I will say, I'm a little disappointed there was no anniversary celebration for "Star Guitar". It probably would sell well as new single re-pressing or celebratory EP.
25th anniversary maybe???

Went with Star Guitar and The State We're In. Both really powerful songs, and ones I come back to frequently. Recently heard The State played in the show This Is Going To Hurt which fit in perfectly for the scene as it did in Lost in Translation.
Remember attending a listening party for this a couple of days before release in Helsinki. Probably not the best way to first hear it, but remember it sounded great, if a bit of a disappointment after a trio of front to back perfect albums.
Agree on this being a sort of stop gap album for them in between eras.
The official Chems music store is taking preorders for a new vinyl pressing of Come With Us on 2x yellow LPs.
Release date of June 9th.
Pretty steep price IMO, but that's just how it is with physical music these days.

Have the regular release on vinyl in mint condition, no need for me to get this. If there were bonus tracks on it however I'd be all over it

Re: The exclusive 'Come With Us' yellow vinyl
What's the story behind this repressing? Is it just happening because of demand? They really didn't "officially" announce anything other than retweeting another account on Twitter. Not even an email regarding this was available in the online shop.
As a devote 'Come With Us' fan boy, the yellow vinyl is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to pair it with my red vinyl copy. I foresee a 'Come With Us' shrine in my future... ::krazy
But if the mock-up is exact, they messed up the original cropping of where the text should be on the front cover. This happened with the repress 6 years ago too. What gives?

I too am in the camp of devoted "Come With Us" fan boy. Somehow have five (5) copies of the album:
- CD (scratched to hell from original release. Includes ICome With Us error)
- CD (replacement)
- CD (Gatefold edition)
- Vinyl (Original pressing)
- Vinyl (Limited Red Vinyl)
Do I really need a Yellow edition...no...
Will I get it eventually...yes...
This was taken a few years back, my Come With Us collection has grown a little since including the U.S vinyl, original pressing still sealed! ;D

Except for the sealed original, have you listened to all of them at least once? And besides the Japan release and promo copy, what was the reason for purchasing all those other copies?

I have listened to the original UK vinyl a handful of times and the original CD I bought back on release day in '02 probably 100s of times.
Some of the Japanese releases and reissues are still sealed.
The question of why... because being a obsessed collector... and why not :))

Dang, delivered on release day. Now that's service!
Very happy the front cover has correct cropping. The only nitpick I can see, and not necessarily a deal breaker, is the vinyl isn't the same shade of yellow as the mock-up. Vibrant yellow instead of golden yellow.

Is it H.I.A.? I'm not sure if it reminds me of a "Jamaican explosion", but I could see a missing vocal to this track.
Furthermore, didn't someone here suggest this collaboration was supposed to be part of the Blade 2 soundtrack but never happened. As result Fatboy Slim subbed in and collabed with Eve.

It really does sound of early 2000s Hip-Pop. Overdub chants, regaggeton. That was a weird soundtrack album with weird Hip Hop and Electronic collabs.
Somehow still love the Lemon D remix of ODB that came out of the next soundtrack.

I mentioned this in the Chems Discord. I dunno for a fact, but the timing lines up with Blade 2. The soundtrack eventually came out in March 2002.
I prefer the Basement Jaxx version that was only available on a couple promo releases...
