It's a once in a lifetime chance to perform their Numbers-All Rights Reversed crossover together with them!!! How cool would it be if Kraftwerk would casually walk on stage for that moment and then just leave like that.
More hoping for a Leave Ohm mashup
Not too much of a surprise but should be at glastonbury doing a DJ set on their Pangea stage. Owner was at their DJ Set in fabric and they are good friends so pretty much nailed on really

Really happy with Castle Howard. Only a 40 minute drive from where I live and am amazing setting for a gig. Would be amazing if they used the main building as a backdrop. (Probably won't though)

Considering it but they are so expensive. Already seeing them at Kalorama in Portugal and likely glastonbury. Might try pick up cheap tickets a few days before - the lineup is pretty awesome

Will there be transport to/from Castle Howard, do you think? It is quite remote. Don't mind booking accommodation in York or Leeds for the night but could do with a few more details first really.

No idea, maybe ask the big green coach company - they usually do that kind of thing and if you ask may set it up.c Maybe contact castle howard too

Hearing rumors that The Chems are coming to San Francisco in September. Anyone else hearing this anywhere or are my friends fucking w me? Would LOVE it if they came to Chicago instead, but I'll take what I can get here in the States.
Where are your friends hearing that from?
I'd certainly be VERY down for another SF show.
He said the read it on a FB group hes in and then he told me someone else said same thing. He DJs w Disco Cats and w Opulent Temple. Have no reason to think it's BS actually. Last time I saw them was in SF in 2015 at the Kink warehouse. Played 2.5 hours

Wait. WHAT!??!?!!?
This was posted on the Coachella reddit last week: https://www.reddit.com/r/Coachella/comments/tl23uu/new_festival_in_sf_september/
If the companies 'Republic' or more specifically, its newly launched subsidiary division 'Imperial Music' are attached to these rumors, that's the new American label for the Chems.

dear god I hope it doesn't conflict with the wedding I have to attend in September.

Oh goodness, I'm praying... every time I see a new post announcing a new show I read the caption with the slightest hope of it saying "Hold Tight Philadelphia!" or at least some U.S. state, and even if it's SF I'm going to try my hardest to go. Fingers crossed...

Well, you came to the right place if you want encouragement! I'd imagine you'd easily get an encore.
I'm kinda secretly hoping they might announce something about streaming and or taping of that concert.
I just thought, Midnight Madness is a full single BTW, why not to play it live again. Forgotten emerald.
P.S. Unfortunately, no gigs of Chems for me this year, and maybe more and more years...
Just got notice of a gig in *Denver* on the 23rd!!!
Denver? What the hell? They haven't been their since 2007! Nice find pooter!

^ If that's true to form, I like the theory out there that maybe Portola festival is AEG/Goldenvoice courting The Chems before their long and unexpected return to Coachella 2023.
Should be noted Denver 1stBank Center is an AEG venue, too.
Pissed off, as I couldn't be able to attend the Opener gig for various reasons, from the need of going there alone to the payment itself...
Fck...
But maybe it will change, I hope :/
So only 2 options for the states? Like the rest of the country nowhere near San Fran or Denver can like magically get there?
Ugh.
I am still seriously considering flying from Cincinnati to Denver for this, which is 8 days before driving to see Avalanches live at Metro. Bon Voyage savings. :/

Don't look at it that way. Consider it money that you would have spent in Chicago had they done the midwest right by visiting during the 2019 'No Geography' tour. If anything, the weekend date in Denver is pretty ideal, and you can't beat the potential of a stand-alone gig (encore). At least that's my attitude right now.
Take it while you can, forecasting U.S. Chems gigs is a cruel game.

Tom told me they gonna kick off with these:
- Brothers Gonna Work It Out (sample)
- Dust-Up Beats
- Loops Of Fury / The Best Part Of Breaking Up
- Get Yourself High
If we're gonna be students of history here then tomorrow's set will most likely follow the template of 2018, right - three or four new songs that got tested out in recent DJ sets now fully kitted-up to Smith+Lyall visual standards, with the outline of their most recent setlist memory-foam-engulfing those songs in anticipation of a new album they can put a little more effort into theming things around this time come 2023 (+ one song they haven't played live in awhile to get the folks on here talking - staking a claim to "Don't Stop The Rock" on the offchance that I can pull a rabbit out of the hat and triumphantly link back to this post). The hope is they do a good job of that! If nothing else that clip of them equipment testing "Under The Influence (Mix Where We Bring The Giant Toy Robots Out)" sounded like a somewhat interesting update of "Under The Influence (Mix Where We Bring The Giant Toy Robots Out)".
So...today's the big day! No Geography Tour 2.0!

Anticipating 3-4 new tracks is pretty optimistic regardless of the template from 2018. I think what we called the "woo track" and now "No Reason", will emerge its head again. Other than that, I'm thinking we are too far away from a lump of new song debuts.
Instead, I think there is more emphasis to celebrate 25 years of DYOH. I like your prediction of "Don't Stop The Rock", but maybe they fully bring TPPR back into the set and not just as an encore?
I also feel like they need to try a new opener, "Eve of Destruction" would be optimal, but the existing visuals are perhaps too cinematic to throw at the crowd right away.
We'll know soon.
Edit: They retweeted someone who suggested they could make a surprise DJ appearance at Glastonbury, if this comes to fruition, maybe newer material is closer around the corner than I originally thought.

I feel like Hoops might be brought back from the dead based on the labels on the Future Retro in that rehearsal video, the stickers didn't seem to be on there before and only showed Under The Influence and DYOH
Debut K-Hole, or bring Where Do I Beging live and I'll be happy for the DYOH thingy.
Also, I feel, that we might expect the It Doesn't Matter during the EBW section, or at least the vocal samples of it
Please surprise us with tracks you've never played before and throw in some that only got a very brief live-life in the past. I think I've heard Out of Control too many times.
I also would love if you could give us another iTunes Festival moment where you tweak the shit out of the setlist and songs. I'll never forget how you magically transformed Snow/Surface to Air and Escape Velocity in your encore.
Btw, Galaxy Bounce 93-03 version needs a serious live debut!

Go
HBHG
Block Rocking Beats
MAH
Eve Of Destruction

Two short clips of Dreaming
Apparently with I'll See You There-visuals?
Is that Escape Velocity with Ballons?
Probably means that Saturate is no longer part of the setlist
https://twitter.com/OSonDoCamino/status/1537799585195823104?t=WdDa8lwJERxAe46D2rQmAw&s=19
Definitely EV visuals. The balloons look yellow/orange/pink/red, while for Saturate they were yellow/green, so it's not just ballons leftover from a previous song.

Two short clips of Dreaming
So Stefan Clips (1,2,3) is being re-named Dreaming now is it?
I think I might know where they've sampled that vocal from.
Following on from my Class Action "Weekend" sample-spot for Eve of Destruction, I
think I have this Dreamin sample figured out too. A voice many of you will know if you're familiar with Black Box's Ride on Time (ConnorSuper may remember dicussion of this vocalist too, re: Burnin'Up which was in a Black/Blessed Madonna DJ set, supporting the Chems).
I think they've sampled Loleatta Holloway - Dreamin'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1qJ5T3q7YI
Mind you I can't quite provide a time stamp. Maybe someone else can figure out the exact bit. It could be several places. Maybe somewhere around 1:30-ish?...
[ps I think Stefan's last two posts were on either side of this post but then I deleted my post before re-posting it for, eh...reasons]
Whatever it's called, I wanna hear more of it.
That insta clip from that story sounds like
'and I'm gonna go dreamin'
I think Wolken has got something with Loletta Holloway vid though. It's pretty close.
Trying to put together a setlist for this one is absolutely frustrating right now! I suppose we'll have to wait till Sonar for more answers but I have a suspicion
Spoiler
they might have made Block Rockin Beats the intro?
Just...so many questions
Spoiler
They've had BRB as closing song for so long that it seems strange it's spot was switched.
However, it's DYOH 25 anniversary and BRB is the opening song there, so it would kinda make sense?
I wonder what caused your suspicion? I've only seen short clips of BRB where it is impossible to guess its place in the setlist.

First proper look at some new visuals! Appears to be the end of the "Woo Track" (with a clear segue into HBHG - incl another clip (https://bit.ly/3NWiGNX) where these figures were drumming along to the intro on the side screens), and Smith+Lyall filmed at least one person gesticulating wildly to it so I'll call it a win.
These effing social media sites get on my nerves. On twitter I can't enlarge images anymore and get redirected once I click twice and Instagram is the most annoying of them all not letting me see anything but the timeline unless logged in.

Ah yes. I saw the flag waving/drumming visuals segueing into HBHG and couldn't figure out what it was. Of course it's "Woo" aka No Reason.
So at this point we

LMAO I remember that comment, and it would appear you are right! I really, really like the neon marching band look for NRTL, although we've only seen the one bit with the flag guy and the drummers for HBHG intro. I really like the way they transitioned the two, and I also think it's just so cool that they decided to pair those two together - like, one of their old, most popular, classic tracks, mixed with this new, mysterious, awesome track; it's really cool, I think.
Also, BRB being the opener is an interesting choice, I like how it reflects the album itself but I kinda preferred it as a closer and some of the other songs as an opener. The perfect, perfect opener to me though, would have been WDIB - imagine, instead of the Tomorrow Never Knows guitar, its the Where Do I Begin guitar, and then the vocals kick in, and it goes crazy. It would have been a perfect commemoration for the DYOH anniversary.
Here's hoping tomorrow will bring some more new clips of sick stuff!
BRB has been at the end of their show for, how long now? It's indeed a brand new show if they made a change here :)
Tonight new chance at Sonar

That... certainly is the promised changeup, setlist-wise.
Although it might not be 100% accurate - "Go" seemed conspicuously absent considering it definitely came after "Block Rockin' Beats" a few days ago and sure enough I just found a post (https://bit.ly/39ynDxp) that seems to confirm they played it at Sonar in some tantalizingly altered capacity. Still, though - for a set that appears to have just the two new songs we heard in December, and only one new visual, there's a lot to talk about here! "Setting Sun" as a standalone! Opening and closing tracks literally inverted from the template that started all the way back in the We Are The Night era! "Dig Your Own Hole" and "Wide Open" and "Out Of Control/Do It Again" all surviving into 2022! The new tracks seemingly don't have titles locked down yet! And most pertinent to my interests "Free Yourself" not only survived but escaped its status as a 2-minute prelude to "Chemical Beats" and is apparently a "(new version)"! Mysterious!

The crowd really loved 'Dreamin', and is an awesome add to the arsenal, including it's visual from I'll See You There, on which I think has a new female actress with it. And it blends so perfectly into UTI!
The setlist needs tweaking, as more nuances from other tracks are discovered and blended into others.

THIS!
when Tom said a 'new' tour, he literally meant that every track will have something new added to it ( well almost), including some new visuals.
I've never complained about any past setlists or any repetitiveness from the shows, and I was damn sure to be content even if this new tour was like the last one I went to ( of course including the 2 new tracks, and the rest of the new adds)
But Tom, always thinking and tinkering with his mind about the setlist during the last tour, has really deep-dived and added some chemical sprinkles on this overglazed super donut that we've seen on the current footage.
..and I'm hungry for more

That's a bold claim. I can't see any green balloons from last night, but I guess we'll see more pics/videos soon enough. Sonar is tomorrow.
- Thanks Krabber. Your Twitter tip worked.

Yeah, those YT shorts are fairly new. Pretty annoying too. Seems like a strategy to follow the TikTok trend, and to handle the sillies that shot vertical and make them seem less silly...

Re: the two new tracks
1) The woo track doesn't have any "woos" in it. The visuals remind me of (a less saucy) Destination Calabria (https://www.discogs.com/release/932314-Alex-Gaudino-Ft-Crystal-Waters-Destination-Calabria) video. Also, does anyone else think the lyrics ("No reason to live, no reason at all") are a bit downbeat for a dance track?
2) I no longer think the vocal samples on the Dreaming track are from Loleatta Holloway's Dreamin'. I don't know what they're from. Soz.
Also, do we know how that person at Sonar kept their phone steady for an hour? It's a good vid!

The woos are still in there! Just really drowned out as per most elements will become while playing live, if you notice some of the soldiers pop up just to say WOO
From that video it looks as if they've gone back to a 2016 ish setup with the behind the screens lighting. Rather than having less lights that are on motors that move in position they've got a fixed grid of moving heads only.
Edit - Is there a believe sample at the end of GTKO?

Gutted for anyone going planning to go to Cork tomorrow. This show is looking doomed to happen, let's hope its 4th time for this show to go ahead in the near future.
I was trying to think back over the 27 years I have been a fan of the Chems and can't remember them actually cancelling a show outside COVID era other than the Iceland show. I'm sure it kills the band to pull this event and matters are totally out of their control.
It's a worry for the rest of the dates this weekend. But their is little point speculating and wait for an official announcement.
Life has seemed so normal this year. But ultimately things are not normal and possible disappointment in broken plans are the new normal

Really great post.
For those showing their arse on social media, put a cork in it.
wow you're not kidding about the social media complainers. I empathize with the disappointment and the sunk travel costs (particularly as I wonder about the fate of Sundays gig, having just finalized my plans to go). but the inability of people to grasp how a crew member falling sick could impact a live concert and not a DJ set is a little dumbfounding.
It's disappointing for people, I get it, I've been there. But it's just the way of the world how so many people just can't seem to understand that a situation isn't black and white. So many people being like 'HOW CAN YOU PLAY GLASTO' and it's like, 1) they haven't yet, 2) it's a DJ set not a full stage crew and production, 3) the rules in the UK are different to Ireland, positive tests in Ireland still require full isolation.
See they've pulled out of the Glastonbury appearance

We are very sorry to announce that we won't be DJing at Arcadia this evening at Glastonbury.
We were so excited to be back in the fields and to celebrate the return of the festival, as we were to be playing in Cork on Thursday night. We were hoping that more days rest would allow Tom to recover from Covid this hasn't so far been the case.
We are hoping that Tom will recover in time to play the scheduled Castle Howard show in York on Sunday and will update with progress as soon as possible via our socials.
We share the disappointment and frustration at not being able to do what we do with all of you.

wow. so sorry kosek and others that were planning to catch them there.
maybe they should have cancelled Castle Howard after all.
hope everyone makes a healthy recovery.
See now I always waited until last minute when buying such festival gigs.
Exactly because of such cancelling events.
But I was getting anxious 3 weeks ago because Friday tickets sold out.
Chems were suppose to be on Saturday. So afraid of tickets being sold out I have bought them.
And now I have 2 useless toilet paper sheets 75 euro each.
I'm not pissed off that I'm not going to see the Chems. Because I am going to see them either this year or the next one.
What pisses me off is that I have two worthless tickets.
I'm torn between just losing the money for tickets or actually going there, spending more money and watching gigs I have no interest in.
Oh no. Kosek. I can feel the pain.
Are festival tickets personalized these days and re-selling them at face value is not an option any longer?

First gig I went to in 3 years was last month - a lttle mini festival called Wide Awake.
I got last minute tickets slightly below face value from Twickets - a 100% legit ticket resale site where sellers can't charge more than face value (+ a small Twickets fee). Adele has previously made them her "official" ticket resale partner when she was playing gigs at Wembley Stadium.
There's also Stubhub (an ebay offshoot for tickets) and good old GumTree. Are any of these a possibility in Poland?
Failing that, if you go to Op'ener, then Cigarettes After Sex are a pretty good alternative/indie band on the Tent stage at 21:00. Cate Le Bon (collaborated with the Chems on BITE) is on the Alter stage beforehand at 20:30, and Seasick Steve at 19:00 plays a sort of one-man country blues style that has seen Glastonbury rocking in years gone by. Oh and at midnight, Boys Noize plays (DJs?) at the Beat Stage (more Chemical connections - as he has been remixed by the Chems and also done a remix
of the Chems)

According to TOS you can sell them unless you're doing it massively for profit.

Thanks for the writeup man. I have analysed the lineup for that day. The thing is I am a strictly electronic music guy who osccilates mostly in the techno, deep house, ambient area. I do not listen these days to any rock/indie/hip hop stuff.
I need to take a 2 hour drive each way. Can't drink. I'll be back home somewhere at 4-5 AM.
I wake up 6-7AM to work. It was a hustle I could take for the Chems but anything else? I don't know.
The beat stage is kinda fun. I don't listen to Boys Noize these days, but I could take a lookski.
Still it's not worth the price.
I actually right now have found a buyer for 30% off. I will probably sell.
Triple post cat killer.
I'm still thinking whether they put in something good as a replacement. Something similiar in magnitude.
Prodigy is available but for sure they just play this UK tour. Faithless doesn't exist. Underworld is playing 2 days later in Japan. Would they make it? Doubtful.
Orbital is available, but they're not capable in filling the main stage crowd imho. Fatboy Slim not availalbe. Moderat is available by they play another festival in Poland in a month. I'm sure there are some booking terms not to play another festival in such a short time interval. I checked some other electronic acts and can't see anything good happening
Hello,
First of all, I wish Ed and The Chemical Brothers a speedy recovery. I must admit that it hurt me a lot about the canceled concert at Opener in Gdynia.
I had been dreaming about going to this concert for 20 years. For me, this is a very great event. I broke down because I was getting very close to my dream. I am unlucky that the concert was canceled once again.
I don't know when I will be able to see this event. I don't have adequate finances to be able to go, for example, to Italy or England. . I hope that someday I will be able to make my dream come true.
By the way, I would like to know if I can apply for a job as a technical worker in the assembly of stage equipment? I will be very grateful for any reply.
Best Regards, Peter

Does Open'er festival have that type of clout to find a comparable replacement last second?
Taking in your comments, I would just sell the tickets if you still can. Buy some Tyskie for the weekend and drown your sorrows. I agree with Wolkenkrabber in exploring the other artists like he suggested, but it sounds like you have some travel inconveniences to consider, and probably not worth it.

I think it's more of a problem who's available in such a short notice.
I prefer better beers than Tyskie :)
Btw Open'er is at this moment being evacuated because of potential storm incoming
I understand Kosek's pain and worries.

But fate decided otherwise...
But it's not about that, of course. I wish Tom, Ed and their team good health and speedy recovery! 🙏

20 years? They've been like 4 times already here. Where have you been?
Honestly? Going abroad on their full show with encore is something else.
Much better experience. You can get a cheap ass Wizzair flight for as much as 50 euro both ways.
You get some cheap airbnb. Tickets to the show. If you're on a budget you can dine yourself in Lidl, Carrefour, Auchan or whatever. Baguettes, cheese :) You'll see some world, you have a better gig. It's not that much really. Unless you're close to Open'er, then yeah, the difference in price will be significant.
I would urge everybody to travel and see the full show. Barcelona and Paris gigs with couple of days of sightseeing were one of my best trips.
I have bigger budgets at this point in life, but I used to do this the cheap way
By the way as CHems are touring next summer, I'm almost 100% sure they will be at Open'er.
By the way, the first time I saw the Chems live, it was in Poland, at festival in Warsaw. Lovely memories, and good times.
Yes, there was a very strange attitude of people aged 50+ towards me as a Russian, but the young people reacted very good-naturedly and some even knew Russian language very well, that even shocked me these days.

But! You can still notice that Swoon has a completely different arrangement now. And i like it.
It does seem like Swoon comes in super abruptly. Just seems like a difficult tune to put into the set fluidly.
I can confirm this is not edited, it's how Swoon comes in.
I did a few videos at Suikerrock, including all of No Reason. Sadly, the sound is super saturated. I might edit the Rock in Roma sound on it, since it's pretty clean

Swoon at time stamp 53:35 sounds super weird... Like something EDM artists would do... Same goes for the weird choice for Wide Opens's intro and this new tune after MAH.
Hm, I really like the new intro to Wide Open and also No Reason, wouldn've crossed my mind to compare it to EDM, which I can't stand.
But that transition beween Star Guitar and Swoon really needs some work.

Hey, are you ok?

Well, I didn't want to say anything because you all were so enthusiastic but I've got to admit that their most recent live stuff feels a little rough to me, although I love the fact that they're being quite playful (just like I hoped they would). But Wide Open and that newer track felt so off to me, nothing like anything I'd associate the Bros with. I was honestly shocked a little.
Remember the iTunes Festival? That one was sprinkled with jaw dropping surprises. The Snow Surface intro alone came from another dimension.
I know, I know. I'm a spoiled brat.
Csar, if you don't already know, you've earned impunity among this community. You got a difference of opinion that you feel like airing go for it.
Appreciate you thinking of others though.
Now that we are airing our grievances, get rid of the vocalized Temptation intro to Star Guitar. I have a feeling I know why they are doing it, but it just doesn't sound good.
Thanks Bosco for the kind words but I hope everyone on here feels free to voice their opinions no matter what!
I wholeheartedly concur with your Star Guitar sentiment.

I personally felt like the live set has needed quite the shakeup for a while by now! This current set has been such an improvement over last year's shows, but I can see where everyone feels things feel a little incoherent
maybe put some of the crucial songs like...BRB, Swoon/Star Guitar back in their respective places and it'll feel more *right*, especially having swoon/star guitar in the first act again, that could prolly close things out before the second act, that quick cut isn't doing anything for me either
otherwise I love the new risks they are taking! granted it can definitely use some buffing out, would love to see this in context with the Chemical10 material and maybe some more backlog tracks if they intend to pull another DYOH style surprise (also PLAY THE UNIVERSE SENT ME DAMN IT)
that Come With Us intro though is absolutely MENTAL and it's nice to see it given a second life, it'd be mental if they played the full version again too but, not sure why they would place BRB in the intro, possibly to celebrate DYOH's anniversary? but regardless, it's definitely an interesting choice

Absolutely! That is the part I appreciate the most of the recent shows and it's really refreshing. I hope they'll be continuing on this path and leave the well-worn ones more often (just make it a bit more fluent).

Damn right, please mix in some of the tracks never or only briefly played. Galaxy Bounce and the Universe should be no brainers!!! They could open with Galaxy Bounce Singles 93-03 style. I'd bet that would get people pumped with its intro.

I'm fine with the placement of BRB but, like I mentioned somewhere else, I found it odd that they would use it and make it a really dramatic opener, looping the "back" vocal snippet, and then not segue into BRB and even stop the beat which totally cuts the energy built.

I have two tickets to the Field Day festival on the 20th. Sadly not going to be able to make that show.
Let me know if anyone is interested--looking to sell them for face. DM me for details.
