With the track officialy dropping tomorrow, let's make yet another topic.
I'm excited to hear the first track of the album we have never heard in any form yet (as opposed to GTKO, Free Yourself, MAH and even Eve of Destruction that we all heard in DJ Set and Live set before)
The track will premiere tomorrow at 11:30 GMT (I think) on Youtube. There seems to be some kind of partnership with Formula 1, which has me even more excited. You can't go wrong with a dog driving a Formula 1.

This seems like it could be another Dom and Nic video maybe? we'll see.
The track is already out down under, if you're Australian or have a VPN, you can already listen to it :music
Well... that was underwhelming
Toward the end, there's a moment when it gets better... but just for a moment. Without the hook sample, I dunno, there's not much there. I do like the bridge, wish it was longer or more of the song was the vibe of the bridge. Feels more like a b-side.
Quote"If you've ever complained that Formula One is lacking a global sonic identity then you are in for a treat in 2019.
Why? Because that's exactly the championships says it has combined with electronic music act The Chemical Brothers to create ahead of the new season.

Who's hot and who's not: Ferrari top, Haas rises, Alfa falls
A look at the 10 teams on the Formula One grid in the order preseason testing suggested they all sit on the eve of the Australian Grand Prix.
The English band are long-time F1 fans and have remixed a new track called 'We've Got to Try' from its upcoming album, 'No Geography'. The song has been accelerated to 15,000 beats per minute (BPM) to reflect the 15,000 revs per minute (RPM) a modern-day Formula One car is capable of reaching.
The song -- given the catchy title 'WGTT15000BPM F1 NEEEUM MIX' -- was released on Thursday to social media. The remix will be accompanied by a series of six-second films that show a dog behind the wheel of an F1 car and commandeering a rocket into space.
NEEEUM: The fastest remix of all time

— Formula 1 (@F1) March 7, 2019
The clips are from the full 'We've Got to Try' video, which tells the tale of 'Girl the Dog' and her mission to complete the impossible.
The accompanying press release says: "[The Chemical Brothers], famous the world over for pushing machines and technology to their limits via their music, have transformed a brand-new track into the iconic sound of an F1 car roaring past at high speed".
It claims the 'Neeeum' mix is the fastest remix of all time -- which it points out is "an appropriate claim for F1" and adds that the remix and the full 'We've Got to Try' song will be F1's "global sonic identity" going forward as well as becoming the sound of the F1 2019 season. It does not clarify in further detail what that actually means.
Last year F1 released a new theme tune for the championship, written by Brian Tyler, which quickly gained popularity with fans across the world as the intro to broadcasts and races on the world feed."

^ Oh the guy who directed the excellent SIFSD video. I wonder if the video will be better than the song...
I've listened to a 90 second clip of it on Japanese itunes, and yeah it does feel a bit like a B-side or a mess-around or an early Chemical remix circa Primal Scream's Jailbird. The samples seem to be the best part of the track. The Chemical bits aren't doing it for me so far. I found myself waiting for Masters At Works' "Just a Li'l Dope" to kick in. Probably a better track!
Do you guys noticed we've got a Spotify sort of preview/teaser too??

Can't believe we got another Beck collab with this song!!!!

Spoiler
this is very messy and a joke
So is the NEEEUM remix vid just a 3 seconds snippet or the complete track. If you up the tempo to 15000 bpm the track won't be long :D
It's possible they did the 15000 bpm version of an extended version? I think the song is only 3.5 mins long and like 92 bpm
We've got to try is on the album before Free Yourself. So a 3 track chunk from the album. That kind of disadvantageous for an album listening experience.
Is that World premiere of Eve of destruction a real thing? Is it available to listen somewhere?

I can't imagine the story of the dog could be told very well in a three second video. But this does feel like an odd choice for a proper single/video release.
I still think those Vox are (manipulated) samples on there, rather than recreated vocals. Looking forward to seeing the album/sample credits.

I don't understand the B-Side comparisons.
It's strong, solid, lean, bigger than the sum of it's parts. It's got an energy that feels purpose built for a theme for a sporting event with little of the cheese. Classic yet modern. Unique yet chemical. Creative yet calculated. Simple yet everything. A fucking cool song.

I like it. Theres actually a few breaks and samples going on in there and its kind of of disjointed in a good way with the speed of it. It reminds you of the 90s era with the synth really dominant and the drum breaks. Which is no surprise when they went back to there old equipment. It will fit nicely in the album.
The grand prix is in my home town but its wasted on me cause I'm not a big fan and can't justify spending that much to go. Definitely in my situation at the moment and just too see if theres any chems promotion anywhere for it.
Damn It's really simple but good track Every Chems Album had that slower chill track and No Geography's one will be WGTT :D I like how simple it is but compared with previous singles it's just very short :D
For Europeans:

Cought only the first couple of bars but it seems like it starts off exactly like in the Moments Desert Island mix. Interesting choice.
I like it. Keen to hear this track throughout the Formula 1 2019 season, as Ricciardo dominates those podiums in the Renault.
Ohh guys, I shouldn't have listen it. I can't stop pressing the repeat button. I LOVE IT!! My hype for this album went to the clouds! It's simple, I feel the old school vibe, I really don't feel like it is a b side... even I like it more than GTKO. The bad thing is that is waaaay too short.
Not sure if on purpose or a coincidence but its international womens day and the lyrics are 'I know we can make it girl'.

Ok, so I am still waiting for my iTunes to catch up with the rest of the universe BUT had a listen on YouTube and damn that's phat. And I never use that word to describe anything because I feel so derpy just saying it, haha! I don't care, though. It's very old skool, love the throbbing squelches lined with that super crisp production, punctuated by crackles and pops you'd hear when playing an old vinyl you picked up second hand at the used record shop across town. This one's really nice, soulful, a blend of familiar and fresh. First impression after first listen. Worthy of many more listens to come. Love.
OMG! If they play this live, that drop after the bridge is absolutely gonna own me! :)) :music
It has the playful attitude of 'Hot Acid Rhythm', but I'm getting 'Keep My Composure' similarities.
The novelty of this song might wear off over time, but I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of it while it's still fresh. t000n!

Ha! Brilliant video. I absolutely love it. Hat doff'd to Ninian Doff for that. I mean honestly, who listened to that track and thought: "Dog driving F1 car and taking off into space"? Bonkers.
First comments since hearing more than 90 seconds on itunes:
Listening to the whole thing, it had me thinking of white label bootlegs that came out around 2003-2006. Some record shops had a bootleg 12"s section where there was stuff like 1799, (https://www.discogs.com/The-New-Originals-1799/release/382666) Reckless Dub, (https://www.discogs.com/Stanton-Warriors-Break-Me-With-You-Reckless-Dub/release/156022) 7th Nation Freeland, (https://www.discogs.com/The-White-Stripes-vs-Adam-Freeland-7th-Nation-Freeland/release/168729?ev=rr) Donna Kebab (https://www.discogs.com/Unknown-Artist-Donna-Kebab/release/137595) and Pixie Boots (https://www.discogs.com/False-Profit-Pixie-Boots/release/421944). Pre-exisitng tracks given a breaks re-work (sometimes by well known artists) and put out on white label.
This feels like the Chems have done something similar, but instead of giving the track a 2003 breaks re-work they've given it a 1994 Chemical remix.
I think we've discussed before on the forum how the Chems often use samples imaginatively, and rarely hang their tunes on just one big sample. But here, they do exactly that. They haven't created a new tune with the sample, they've done a white label remix of Halleluiah Chorus. And I might like it if I stumbled on it in the record racks. It's kinda fun. But is it a single that matches the creativity of Star Gutar or Go and deserves a big video? I don't think so.
I do like the orchestral break at around 2.06. Nicely done. I also note that the "tryyyy" at 2.27 sounds the same as "try" on the Healleluiah Chorus record unlike earlier on when it's pitched down or something. Are the crackles from the source material or have then been added, I wonder?
In conclusion, it feels like a fun little bootleg remix, but not an A-side single for me. I'll be watching that video again though!

People are stupid, this won't replace the F1 theme (which is awesome). The "Sonic identity" thing is at best producing sound to go with the transitions during the races. Those were pretty bad before so it would be a good thing

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but...
https://thepreludepress.com/news/2019/3/8/the-chemical-brothers-release-music-video-for-new-song-weve-got-to-try
"To celebrate the start of the 2019 F1 season, the British duo broke down, re-engineered and accelerated "We've Got To Try" to 15,000 beats per minute (BPM) to reflect the 15,000 revs per minute (RPM) that today's hyper-complex F1 cars are capable of reaching. Titled "WGTT15000BPM F1 NEEEUM Mix" and clocking in at a mere three seconds, it is the fastest remix of all time and approximates the iconic sound of an F1 car roaring by. "WGTT15000BPM F1 NEEEUM Mix" will be the new global sonic identity for F1 moving forward. Stream the remixHERE.
"The engineering challenge of creating the fastest remix intrigued us as F1 fans and music producers," said Tom Rowlands, who founded The Chemical Brothers with Ed Simons. "It's exciting to hear our music in the context of F1. The speed and intensity of F1 is a nice reflection of our music and live shows." "

Meh, I think you're letting technical aspects get in the way of you enjoying music. Without todays technology, we would have gone years and (I mean years) until we were able to track down the sample. You've might have always had that "feeling" it was influenced from another track, but we'd never know the original source where it came.
I will agree they haven't strayed too far from the original sample(s), but I do think they formulate a new track. The original Hallaluiah Chorus track is a poppy r&b/soul which had a nice little produced instrumental break, and probably never saw the light of day even in it's prime. The Chems turned it into a sonic boombox blaster, which in-turn, sounds like a pretty awesome empowering battle cry.

Looks like this is not a sample, but another interpolation. Amazing how similar they can recreate it. They credit Richard Pegue (producer of 'I've Got to Find a Way') as composer lyricist but nothing else.
Additionally, it looks like the vocalist is a really young Michael Jackson (you were on the money there Wolkenkrabber!) impersonator/singer.

It's a 3 second "remix" of WGTT that they sped up to 15000bpm and filtered to sound like an F1 car speeding past.
Yes, I just meant what does the word/hashtag mean but it must just be onomatopoeia for the F1 engine. I'm now saying it out loud and it's fun.

Did you guys check out the credits on the youtube link yet?
Looks like this is not a sample, but another interpolation. Amazing how similar they can recreate it. They credit Richard Pegue (producer of 'I've Got to Find a Way') as composer lyricist but nothing else.
Additionally, it looks like the vocalist is a really young Michael Jackson (you were on the money there Wolkenkrabber!) impersonator/singer.

I can't see where they list composer or vocalist on the YouTube video, where are you seeing it?

The speed and intensity of F1 is a nice reflection of our music and live shows." "
This 3 second remix is such a tease at first thought (and that makes me giggle, haha)... but it's really not. On second thought I think it's great - What an interesting and challenging project.
It'll be so weird when it pops up when I have shuffle on :D

I could have lost a LOT of money on this if anyone had challenged me to a bet. Nice "MJ" find which saves my blushes a little bit. Appreciated!
Does...does that mean this interpolation is so good that it fooled Shazam on your phone and mine?? :o
I heard this song only two times and I can't get that voice sample/whatever out of my head.
Catchy.
Quote from: JRSZ on Mar 07, 2019, 23:13Damn It's really simple but good track Every Chems Album had that slower chill track and No Geography's one will be WGTT
Have to say I disagree with this! The tune BANGS! It might actually be my favourite of the new tracks so far. It's definitely got more of an album feel than the FY, MAH, or GTKO, which seem built to be played live Imo. That could also be because we've been hearing em live for ages before the release..
Anyway, WGTT is a total earworm, has been on repeat in our house s I nce yesterday morning.
Edit: on the "chill" note, anyone have any ideas for which other tunes might be the slower ones on NG? My bet's on "Catch Me I'm Falling" but mostly based on it being the album closer!
FINALLY! There's a clip where nobody is dancing!
Take a look at last chemical clips:
EBW 10 - a chuchundra is dancing
SIFSD
Go - women are dancing
Wide Open - a girl is dancing
Free Yourself - robots are dancing
Got To Keep On - people are dancing
And now there's a dog! And it is not dancing. It is driving a car. Finally!
Well, they do create dance music...
but I get what you're saying. This was a much welcomed change of idea.
I guess Sometimes I Feel So Deserted is crying in a corner right now.
Quote from: Bosco on Mar 09, 2019, 18:26Well, they do create dance music...
But what we had in the 90's or 00's. Tim Burgess is stuck in a mental hospital, a factory worker sees robots everywhere, a guy in office is fucked up, etc.
We've Got To Try is a brilliant reference to the time when chemical clips had some meaning.

I don't really like this clip, as well as the song. But it had some plot. So that's why it was deleted from this "just dancing" list.
^ Because you don't like SIFSD it doesn't count? Oh.
I think it's one of their best ever videos (and it was directed by the same guy as WGTT).

It doesn't count because it's not about dancing. It has a plot and it's ok.

Well, I find meaning in Free Yourself and Wide Open too. But that's just me.
For videos, I think Free yourself is still the favourite for me, You had to watch it a few times to pick up all the 'easter eggs' as people online like to call them throughout the clip. I wanted to watch it more than once cause there was a storyline going on and it was also left open at the end to suggest more questions what happens.
I know its a good clip when I want to watch it again like the other film clips they have done over the years. For some reason WGTT I don't have the desire to watch it again, I know what happens its cute, the end. The song is great though.

Oh, it's a translation mistake. Of course all the dancing clips have some meaning too. I meant that not-dancing clips had some story. For example in Believe the guy is working, then he's going home, then he's visiting a doctor and so on.
I don't mean that dancing clips are bad and mindless, but when 5 of 6 last videos are about dancing in some forms it's getting a bit annoying.

(Not reading the Forum Sandelic? :D Hope you heard the Desert Island mix)
EDIT: also, I guess you didn't read my Reply #43 above :'( ...
Sorry, I somehow missed said posts.
I see now Bosco had same idea.
I actively avoid all live/mix/samples of new stuff till album drops.
I still have to listen to Desert Island mix. :(

So it actually is the full remix? That's what I thought.

I like it. Keen to hear this track throughout the Formula 1 2019 season, as Ricciardo dominates those podiums in the Renault.

Watching the live stream of the launch at the moment and they have all the promo videos using WGTT.
This is a frickin' awesome promo video.

That video is getting me hot! Should play it before live shows.
Watched the live event where they featured the track prominently. A lot of people in the chat really don't like the tune, which kinda breaks my heart. On the other hand, I can understand how overusing it (which I think they do) can really upset those who are not into that kind of music.
Yeah. I mean its a gamble what they've done.
I like the track but hearing it too much in an arguably masculine fuelled environment like that kind of kills the magic a bit. Especially before the new album where hopefully you don't find yourself skipping it for that reason.
I had to get a tram through the city for an interview on the way to the Grand Prix and in all honestly would much prefer putting up with a Australian Football crowd than this one if have to deal with public transport sport crowds.

I noticed that, too, in the comment section of YT. Weird, because I'm not getting anything spectacular out of that Brian Tyler theme, except for the whooosh effect. Sounds like your standard Hollywood orchestral cue, nothing to write home about.

I haven't heard the complete track yet (saving it for the album release) but this promo sounds EFFING AWESOME! The acid sounds at the beginning but especially the thumping bass at the 45 seconds mark. Reminds me of Elastic Eye and Keep my Composure. Can't wait to hear this one live.

Wide Open is, beside the Star Guitar video, the best video from our beloved Brothers and one of the coolest videos in general. It's just perfect in every term.

Best part of that vid was the seemless back and forth editing of the dog driving and flying in the car on the track and in space.
Reminds me of the death star trenches in star wars.
Great BTS btw!
