As Benji posted here (https://forum.thechembase.com/index.php/topic,881.msg11774.html#new), the Brothers will be back in the touring game again in 2018 and treat us with some new live gigs, yay! Let this be just one out of many dates to come. Fingers crossed for our Canadian fellas and all other neglected fans around the world (please play in my backyard, will ya)!
Would you guys be cool with me merging this thread with live dates? Or the other way around?
a calendar like in the 2017 dj sets topic would be cool

it's here
I wanted to, but I still have no idea how to attach an event (let alone multiple) to a topic :-X
Ok, I see Explud has already merged (and edited :'( ) my 2018 Dates topic with yours. Events can be added via calendar. You'd just have to create your first post there too. If you want to add new events, you have to create a dummy post in the same manner so the dates get attached to your post. Then just merge the dummy with your topic.
So. Incredibly. Pumped.
Need to take the wife to her first show. And I'm seriously hoping to hear Free Yourself in a live capacity.
WHOOOOOOP!
And i also think this means that the new album can be released in next year.
Obviously, this is exciting. And as Explud just added I think we can count on a new album in the very near future.
That being said, I'm slightly concerned that, again, the live date announcement is at a festival.

Meetup on the west coast. When they play there, it's happening.

Sigh, yeah that's all the bookings they seem to get anymore. They might still have more up their sleeves though, I'm guessing this is the first announced only because Boardmasters had to say it today.
EDIT: FUCK. I gotta update the forum theme again.
Please may they come to washington or at least anywhere close to oregon's state borders :'(

I think we're unlikely to get anything in either Washington or Oregon. I can't see Seattle being big enough of a pull for them. And Portland is just too small.
Our best bet is going to be California: LA or San Francisco, and maybe Chicago again.
Or... perhaps... maybe... a return to Red Rocks?

You think it's the best bet to full show with encore?
Oh Shit! Bologna!?
I've been looking for an excuse to go back there...
Yeah, until I forgot. In 2015, after the show in Warsaw, there was a gig at the Siemens Arena, Vilnius. It was not a festival gig, but there was no encore.
Just FYI
Maybe we'll get a Rockhal opening show again ? That's the best bet for an encore
And I hope there will be a few French festival shows, but no luck so far :(

I'm actually shocked they're not on this year! Hoping for a SF date though but yeah, a after summer show would work too
I'm guessing they don't come to US this year unless they plan on doing multiple trips like last tour, or skipping over one of the big cities (Chicago most likely). Assuming they stick to the theme of late summer music festivals, I don't see a workable schedule using the already scheduled dates and the list of music festivals they have at https://www.musicfestivalwizard.com . There might not be some festivals yet announced, and or maybe they might plan a non-festival date where it could be viable, but I just don't see it working out as or right now.
Edit:
Additionally, I don't see fest like Electric Zoo or North Coast booking the Chemical Brothers again within a three year period. If they do play North Coast again, that would be 3 times in 8 years.
I've been thinking a similar thing. It'd be a lot of back and forth to make it out here.
I'm obviously still hopeful, but it's looking like a forum listening party is more likely than a big ol' live show blow out.
The only other logical option I see for this year would be based around the very hyped, Day for Night Festival in Houston. It takes place in December, but I'm fairly confident The Chemical Brothers would be a target for them based off their prior lineups. Would make perfect sense to schedule a mini non-festival tour to coincide, or just tie loose ends where they missed on their potential preceding stateside summer festival tour.
Need more news!
Wow, Dour festival just announced The Chems! We don't know the exact date yet

Aphex Twin had the best sound in 2009 (7.1 and all this shit). It's not a question of the festival, it's a question of wether the band cares about having a shit sound or not
They will play Dour on the 12th of July, I updated the calendar

I hope so. Rock en Seine would be nice but I have a wedding on that weekend so 1 out of 3 chances to not be there
Bluedot Festival added, July 22.
Great news for me, they are coming to Portugal. That being said, they'll come to a shitty festival (imo), and i probably won't like any other bands. Similar thing happened in NOS Alive in 2016. I mean, who the hell puts the bros with Pixies on the same day?? It kinda sucks to pay 69€ just to see one band :(
this slow roll is killing me.

You sure? They are also listed to play Bilbao BBK in Spain on the same day.
I wonder if it hasn't been decided which day of each festival they will play. I bet they don't play in Belgium and Spain on the same day.
*EDIT* actually the Dour website (http://www.dourfestival.eu/en/program/lineup/overview/) does specifically say Thursday for the Chems. So maybe the BBK date listed on the Chems website (http://www.thechemicalbrothers.com/#live) is inaccurate. The Bilbao BBK website (https://www.bilbaobbklive.com/es/) doesn't appear to clarify days at the moment.

Bilbao is the 13th
They just announced a show in Paris, on Oct. 3rd:
https://caramba.trium.fr/index.php/39/manifestation/15030?s=the&w=132&idtier=858773
Looks promising, so far the best option for me to travel to a show this year :-)
AccorHotels Arena, Paris, 03/10/2018 :o :o
It's one of the biggest concert hall in Paris (18 800 people). Usually they only play at the Zenith, which is much smaller.
I'd prefer a smaller venue as well, but a larger venue has the advantage that it probably won't sell out so fast.
This is a non-festival date, correct?
Yep
How many arena shows have they played within the past 10 years?
I can only think of 2. Olympia back in 2008, and then more recently Abu Dhabi Du Arena in 2016.
I wonder if there is more significance to this date.

A lot ! From the top of my head: Paris Zenith in 2011, Rockhal in 2015, Roundhouse gigs in 2010 and 2015.
how will they fill this? i've seen them on the watn-tour at the phillipshalle in dusseldorf (capacity of around 7500 people) and it was like empty - i wondered back then why they haven't switched to a smaller venue so the people in there won't stand 2m away from each other. i mean it's not a special thing like the olympia gig or is coupled with an event like in abu dhabi.
Quote from: Ben_j on Feb 12, 2018, 23:13

Yeah, excuse my ignorance, I figured there would be more. Although, Roundhouse is on the smaller end I thought?
Additionally, I just did some quick research, and I rescind my initial comment towards being the only non-festival date.
The Bologna date in June is an arena date, and Milano in July is at a horse race track. Also, Lithuania had an Arena show back in 2015, too. I'm sure there is more if I dug deeper.
Edit: sorry guys, I see this was basically already mentioned earlier in the early portion of this thread. I was absent mostly in December.
Festival summer tour to promote the album. Followed by a late 2018-early 2019 proper non-festival tour hitting all the major stops again. Oh please oh please.
Quote from: ThePumisher on Feb 12, 2018, 23:16
how will they fill this?
They'll probably do a half-arena show. But I would doubt they could respectively fill a half-arena either.
It does seem like an unnecessary endeavor, unless like you mentioned, there is more to it.

Quote from: Bosco on Feb 12, 2018, 23:24
Although, Roundhouse is on the smaller end I thought?
Roundhouse looks big because of the high roof and the stage set up. A quick google (https://www.google.co.uk/search?source=hp&ei=tSuCWorDH-bYgAaE2o3ACA&q=london+roundhouse+capacity&oq=london+roundhouse+&gs_l=psy-ab.1.0.0l10.521.6335.0.7725.19.15.0.3.3.0.296.1229.3j4j2.9.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..7.12.1281.0..35i39k1j0i131k1.0.flYtS_GyjNs) says the capacity is just 1700. That's a lot less than say, Brixton Academy (4.9k) or the Hammersmith Apollo (5k) where they finished the last tour. I don't think you can call the Roundhouse an arena.
Quote from: ThePumisher on Feb 12, 2018, 23:16
how will they fill this? i've seen them on the watn-tour at the phillipshalle in dusseldorf (capacity of around 7500 people) and it was like empty - i wondered back then why they haven't switched to a smaller venue so the people in there won't stand 2m away from each other.
How big was Rockhal where BenJ saw them right at the beginning of the BITE tour? Google says 6500. Well, I guess that is a lot smaller than 18k. The London, Hammersmith gigs I mentioned above were two consecutive nights - so that was 10,000 in a weekend (10k is about the same as Wembley Arena).
Maybe they're more popular in London, and I guess Paris is a smaller city. But France is a big country! And if it doesn't sell out, then there's room to move (I think sometimes larger venues offer good deals if they're struggling to fill up their schedule). The Hammersmith gigs were so packed that the only people who could dance were upstairs in the seats! Enjoy the space if you go; I hate being packed in!

I'm not sure. I hope they fill it, but they're no Lady Gaga or U2.
I just did my share of building the hype by buying 2 tickets !
And still no dates in Russia.. :'(
Advance tickets for Paris : https://billetterie.accorhotelsarena.com/fr/manifestation/the-chemical-brothers-billet/idmanif/426120
According to the plan, only half the seats will be used, so I'd say it will be roughly 10000 people, which they should be able to fill.
The configuration should look like this, even smaller :

A solo date at large indoor venue, seems like a prime opportunity to make use of softer time restrictions.

Bought 2 tickets for Paris gig.
I'd prefer 2 zenith gigs with few monthes difference between each one, rathe than one big Arena show like this one. (for WATN tour, they played zenith on 7/7/2007 and 24/11/2007).
Anyway it will be a good show and vibe

October is still far away, there is still time to announce more dates
Tour date announcements can come out in bits and pieces at a time.
I wouldn't be surprised if they progressively announce more dates as we move forward in the year.
Luxembourg Rockhal, 13th of June. Very likely the first date of the tour.
EDIT:
I will be there by the way
Now we just need a date at Le Zenith and Champiness back to scour Youtube's latest videos with us and freak out when a new track is discovered.

Doesn't seem to be a festival date
This is their first ever show in Tlbilisi, isn't it?
I love how Georgia can land The Chemical Brothers but the whole of Canada still can't.
Yeah. What is with the recent upswing in Eastern Block dates? Have they spent as much time over there before as they have recently?
Also, wasn't September when we were hoping they might make it over state side? I know it's only one day so far but... You gotta figure they have more in the works around that time, and probably closer to home rather than the other side of the world.

What about May?
Yeah, I don't think there is any plans to come to United States this year. I really think they are tied to Festival dates and nothing is aligning for this year. The exception, again, being Day for Night Festival in Houston, which takes place in December.
I doubt this will happen, but, if you look further down the line to spring of 2019, it will be 20 years since the first Coachella (although, only being active for 19 of the years). There could be some kind of nostalgic fetching of old acts to reprise some of the original 1999 lineup in celebration. However, I think Tom and Ed have moved on from this festival, let alone Coachella has basically fazed out this type of booking.

So a month away from the first date and no signs of new music. This doesn't seem typical for them.
Bigger project in the works? Struggling to complete album? I'm just hungry for news?
Yeah. I was thinking this the other day. We'd normally have at least a tease of something. I'm hoping it's the 'bigger project' - as long as it doesn't take too long. I too am getting antsy for something to be shared.
The Big tease is the removal of the Free Yourself vids off YouTube. It's very similar to what happened before the release of Escape Velocity
Calm down, my brothers and sisters. This mean that they are ready to produce something new with their live shows, but not ready to announce their work. It's great, i guess. Just remember to fall in love their live shows in 2004.

Thought this was interesting from the RS France Twitter, the chems re posted it on their facebook...
Three years after "born in the echoes", the duo The Chemical Brothers engages the festivities for a world tour... the Dour Festival has offered their new show, to live on July 12th!
To book your tickets here: https://bit.ly/2k3LM1z
Surely north american dates would be included in a world tour....Canada specifically!
Some people here will be excited about this new date in Dublin :)
https://www.facebook.com/events/217423842377510/
Received the presale link email (if anyone is interested I can send on...)... fortunately I spend a good bit of time in dublin for work, and as luck would have it I've arranged (or will be doing so!) some meetings to coincide... so in absence of any Glasgow gigs announced, I've gone for a dub ticket. And if they do announce Glasgow, then that'll be two Chems gigs this year.

Prediction time for the new tracks!
Last tour, they premiered 5 new tracks (Sometimes I Feel so Deserted, Go, EML Ritual, I'll See You There and Reflexion)
Given the rehearsal pics we saw, we can safely say that there will be "Got to Keep on" and "Eve of Destruction" for sure. Then there's this "MAH", it could be the abreviation of the real name of EBW12, or the Galileo club track or something else entirely. And "Mad as Hell" / EBW12.
I'm pretty sure they will play EBW12 too, because I don't see them doing these visuals with the masks and not using them live.
Then there's "Free Yourself" that has been teased in a hashtag, and I don't see them not playing it live, as it's a banger.
All in all, I predict 5 new tracks live:
- Free Yourself
- EBW12/ Mad As Hell
- Got to keep on
- Eve of Destruction
- Some other track that we never heard before
And maybe a 6th one (please, the Galileo club track !)
Edited with the "Mad as hell" being MAH and EBW12 reveal
Make it 6! The played Wide Open later in the tour too!

WOW Airlines? Love them, at least, I love their prices. Just flew with them.
EDIT: be sure to use Google Flights to check for prices on alternate days - it's cheapest if you fly Thurs-Tues that weekend.
And keep in mind WOW Airlines will make you pay extra for carry-on luggage and to pick your seat. Don't pick a seat, and see if you can pack everything you need into a medium sized backpack (aka "personal item") that fits under the seat in front, and you won't have to pay anything extra.

Thanks, I added it! For tickets go here (or on page 1 of this thread ;) ), starting June 22 at 10 a.m.:

Je suis confused. Why you mention the Auroroa thing in this particular thread?
Perviously she was discussed HERE (https://forum.thechembase.com/index.php/topic,1060.msg12778.html#msg12778), innit!
And I'm now gonna add a new comment over there.
Because

She looks like Aurora which i thought a couple of weeks ago is featured on their new album
Too many spoilers spoil everything !

they made a big mistake removing it. I'm glad they worked it out & got it back in.

Yes, but i'm sure, we just lost some track in the setlist by this addition.

it's possibly Out of control & Let forever be, at least it was fun while it lasted
If it's OOC, then ok)
You need to add EBW12...
Aurora and St. Vincent are part of the upcoming festival date in Slovakia (but play on different days).
I know typically when collaborate Chemical Brother artists show on the same bill, nothing usually happens. But, seeing as they have shown some flex with the setlist so far, maybe we could be for a surprise?
fingers crossed for a suprise appearance of Richard Ashcroft & Beth Orton & Hope Sandoval & Stephanie Dosen
Special appearance of Matt Berry and Brendan Melck, entire show is an Ariel reunion with Ed showing up at the end to perform the T-Baby remix
I was more or less implying that 'Eve of Destruction' will eventually be the new single, and this might be a unique way of introducing it.
But lets be honest, this is for all of us:

Aaaah, that was refreshing, thank you. Now, can I get some Ice Cream Castles, please, and remasterd perhaps while we're at it?
After waiting since 2002 for the Chems to come back to Canada, ive had it.
See you all (whoevers going) in iceland.......tickets bought.
Bologna has been cancelled :( >:(
I wanted to go there :(
I'm mad as hell!!! >:(
I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe we can get some info on that. Hold tight.
Edit:
Unfortunately, I'm sorry to report that there is currently no rescheduled show planned.
When you're from Bologna and your show gets cancelled... :(
Are you serious?..must be gategrasher 2018! What were the reasons for cancellation. Sorry to all those who got canned
Is AFAS Amsterdam gonna be live streamed. Im kinda confused with it being called AFAS LIVE.
I mean... They do have live music there...
Just back from the Paris show. We had Got Glint instead of Hold Tight ! And a weird transition to Wide open that sounded almost like a new track, but I think it used a riff from the old HBHG / Music Response demo. I'm not sure, but I definitely heard it before. I will post the video.
Apart from that the set was as usual, it was phenomenal !
Edit: on second thought it sounded like Propellerheads' Lethal Cut

I had the same thing. It sounded familiar but I haven't heard it before. Probably filler beats but it could be something new.
Any ideas on support at Ally Pally for Saturday?
Any ideas when they will be on stage? I am flying over from Dublin for it and not landing until half 5 or something. Have to go and check into the hotel in Paddington and make it to AP quick smart. Just want to know how long I've got!
set times for Fri & Sat: 6:30 DJ James Holroyd / 8:45 @ChemBros live. 🤖
Dear goodness that was awesome!
I have rarely seen a crowd react so intensely to a new track as to Free Yourself. Also, the visuals are the best thing since the Tuba Guys. Mad as Hell is indeed mad as hell. Got to keep on making is incredibly danceable, veeery catchy and the visuals are the best thing since those of Free Yourself. There were only samples played of Eve of Distraction Destruction, was the song played at previous gigs? It seems strange to produce the visuals with Aurora just for the vocal samples, so probably the full song will be played at future gigs or tours.
I finally got to play around with the saturate balloons :)
Snow/STA is as beautiful as I have ever dreamed!
Let's hope the new stuff in the encore is a new song, it didn't sound like a transition to me.
Wide open live is even more intense than expected. I love the contrast to the calm studio version.
And of course there was the One and Only Reel.
It was the perfect highlight to a week of sightseeing in London ;D
Can't wait for the new album!
Love the excitement Stefan!
As far as I know, 'Eve of Destruction' has been only used as vocal loop on this tour.

It's only been played in DJ sets for a short time before 2018, the following was from December 2017

This will most likely be played next year but it did sound a bit unfinished compared to what they've teased in the new shows
Eve of Distraction, haha, that must've been autocorrect ;D
But it's fitting, as I was walking to the tube while typing the post and was distracted by trying not to run into things or being run over and shit like that.
Btw, on Saturday there was somebody with a professional video camcorder (Sony PXW-FS5 or FS7, definitely not what the general audience brings along) in the audience.
Also, is this tour the first time they use the same visuals (Blue floating women, K+D+B birds) for two different songs (Snow/STA and Wide Open) during the same set?
"
Dont' Think 2 Free Yourself" live movie? :)

Yes. But Wide Open is an encore song, so no problem here.

The Brothers are notorious for that, they did the church glass for setting sun and The Reel back in 2015 & 16, and did a DNA strand for The Pills wont help you now and Hoops in 2007. I could list a few more but that would be off topic.

YAS
Wonderful review, Stefan! Glad you were able to catch Wide Open AND the reel live as opposed to Gelsenkirchen.
Got To Keep On has to be one of the longest live tracks, nearly 7 minutes! The only two longer tracks I remember at the top of my head are The Reel and Escape Velocity.

The gig in Gelsenkirchen and our Forum meeting was an amazing evening as well, I wouldn't have wanted to miss it for the world:)

In 2015 and 16, they played the British Silhouette Guy (I think originally from Dissolve? They have done so many silhouette visuals) during OOC (at least at the two gigs I checked, 2015 Apple Festival and 2016 Hammersmith London https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJjRYgoLLBA&t=3499s)
Was at the Dublin gig on Monday and oh man what a gig it was :o
Was at the Friday Alexandra Palace gig too and the Dublin one was (slightly) better. It was very similar alright but just seemed a bit more polished or something. They made some changes and it seemed to flow better whatever they did. The crowd also seemed more responsive too, when a track would start the place would go bananas. Its weird coz London gig was a Friday and Dublin was a Monday so you would have expected it to the be the other way around. Have some videos, let me know if you want me to upload them.
What is the acid track they play when the robots come out? Absolutely class :music
Also agree the robots aren't out for long enough, think of the logistics of bringing them around the world to each gig and only have them come out for one track. Such a waste but when they're out its :o
CHEMICAL BROTHERS RUSTAVI Georgia

Please do!
Was at the gig myself, spent most of the night by the sound desk area and had a decent view. Loved the set, really was a great mix of old & new. EBW 12 was great to hear live vs the YouTube videos. Seriously good flow to the gig. I thought that the set was better than Belfast 2016, and loved seeing them indoors at long last. Downside was how packed it was on the floor, next time I might go for balcony seats!
I left without my phone on the night, so I don't have videos here, I'm waiting for the fiancée to send them to me, will post mine when I get them.
