Title: Reykjavik in October
Post by: nalaknip on Jun 15, 2018, 14:54
Anyone going to the Reykjavik gig? I've got my leave sorted, definitely don't want to miss this.

I'm considering it, especially if there is no US dates announced and the airfare stays affordable.

Is this a festival show? Also thinking about taking a flight and then some quality holidays

Also thinking about it too. All depends on saving up ofc.

This is funny - this has the potential to be a great forum meetup location, and it's a spot somewhat in the middle of the Atlantic. Perfect middle ground.

The Venue:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laugardalshöll (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laugardalsh%C3%B6ll)

so I'm assuming no festival.

Next question: Have they said anything about where you can buy tickets? Me doesn't think that those will be available on those usual German ticket sites like eventim

Doubt it. Tickets are sold via https://tix.is/is/ starting June 19 at 10 a.m. (London time I presume). You can pay in Euros too and via credit card.
I'm curious about how fast this is going to be sold out.

Wie haste das denn rausgefunden? Oder war da etwa eine einfache Suche nach "Island Konzertkarten" die Lösung?
How did you find out? Or was it just a simple search for "Iceland Concert Tickets"?

Hihi, well, yeah. Always start from top :D But I've got to admit, it's not your fault - everyone would have looked up Live for live dates. I believe Errol hasn't updated it there yet because there might still be some details to be clarified/ and or a FB page to be set up.

Yes. I had a layover in Keflavik and a gas station quality pizza + 12oz beer cost me just under $30.

It's an island, what do you expect? And there's the pixy tax, they wanna live too!

The UK is an island. Hawaii is an island. Australia...

It's definitely the pixies that are the problem. And presumably the cost to keep Björk as a native citizen.

With a population of about 330k, mind you. Their gdp is somewhere in the $20 billions. Usually, islands have to import lots of goods which also raises prices (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/mar/29/brexit-fruit-vegetable-prices-uk-eu). Look at our small islands like Helgoland or Rügen, stuff there is pretty expensive too because of economical and logistical reasons.

Bought my ticket this morning. Works out around £85 but I honestly couldn't give a shit. Cannot wait for this gig.

Hell, if no Canada date is announced, and lets face it, there wont be. Ill certainly be going to this.......

Hey I'm 25% Norwegian that grants me that sweet Scandinavian discount, right?

The costly ticket price doesn't bother me. But lodging, transportation, and food and beverage has me concerned.

If I did this, this would be my first international trip.

Gig has been cancelled. Gutted. Now to go through the ball ache of getting the tickets refunded.

Thanks for letting us know.

What a bummer. I can't say I didn't see this coming despite my enthusiasm. I hope that you can recoup any reservations that have been made.

That's two cancellations on this quasi-tour. Information gets passed along pretty dang well nowadays, but I don't recall cancellations happening in prior tours.

I quite remember in 2005 they were supposed to play in Sopot, Poland (100km from my hometown). The show has been cancelled a month before the gig. The reason they gave was "low sales". They sold something like 1000 tickets at that time and were supposed to sell 14000 (aiming for 50000 at gig day). It was still a month before the gig, I haven't bought tickets either. Was about to buy at a later time. Price of the ticket - 50 PLN (~16$).

Post by: Csar on Sep 23, 2018, 22:19
Aw, that's really sad. I can't quite imagine this was because of low sales, but who knows, maybe they did not sell well. This could have been one kind of a gig and I guess Tom and Ed would have loved to enthrall the Icelandic elves and be overwhelmed by their wonderful nature and people.

I reckon it was sales. I know it's Iceland and everything, but £35 dearer than a ticket for the Alexandra Palace shows seemed a bit steep to me, even with taking into account the cost of living, transportation etc.
Title: Re: Reykjavik in October
Post by: nalaknip on Sep 24, 2018, 11:52
Of course, I say steep, but I bought mine the minute they went on sale, and there was an online queue of about 15 minutes, so what do I know. Anyway, roll on Ally Pally. Got tickets for Saturday but hoping to go to the Friday one as well now.

At first I had to laugh about your sarcastic comment and immediately felt bad because I know how disheartening that must be. I cross all my fingers that T&E find a way to the States/ Canada with their album coming out (hopefully early) next year. Chin up, the brothers gonna work it out!
