I just spent the last year building my Chems vinyl collection, mainly buying original pressings from discogs, so I was going to pass on these. But the news there are coloured, numbered editions has me thinking maybe I will double dip (I already have for Born in the Echoes). Dammit, this will be expensive!

Also:
QuoteAudio has been cut from the original lacquers directly from the studio of the original engineer, Mike Marsh, and fully approved byThe Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands.

Might jump for the all red Come With Us, that's damn good looking. Surrender in blue's great too.
I would rather get the 3xLP versions than pay wildly for most of these though. Especially for Push The Button and WATN.

How come We Are The Night uses the original cover ? Wasn't it changed because of legal/copyright issues ?

From what I read yes, but maybe they're dodging a bullet here.I love the color on all of them especially the Further one.
Tis the season to start collecting..again. thank god i dont have all of these these in regular black vinyl.

well that just about pops my 'Dig Your Own Hole' 20th anniversary idea (https://forum.thechembase.com/index.php/topic,539.0.html).
I'm happy they are doing this. But shouldn't there be a premium collectors box set available? This obviously caters to the more dedicated fans. Isn't obvious we pretty much want them all, why only sell them individually? Throw in a T-shirt, add a poster, maybe have Tom and Ed sign the box set and put $300 price tag on it.

It's complicated. The original cover was never blocked or pulled, it still gets used (check ChemHistory (http://www.thechemicalbrothers.com/history)) but most re-releases have the dark handless cover. I'm guessing when they were caught using the Bauhaus design they were forced to pay royalties on it, and the record label opted to use the alternate cover for-repressings and digital sales to save money. Not that they were disallowed to use the original design for those initial prints, but it cost extra to use.
Speaking of how much it was stolen, most people cite the print
Lonesome City Dweller (http://indie-cover-stories.tumblr.com/post/546371153/the-chemical-brothers-we-are-the-night) as the source (which does have the eyes on hands), but this is what it was actually based on:

Why are the promo vinyls 3LP? Does that make them better sound quality than the 2LPs?

Slightly, less audio per side usually means higher quality. And the WATN one is heavyweight and sounds awesome.
But the best part is a lot of them have unmixed transitions due to the many sides. PTB has an unmixed Marvo Ging / Surface To Air, WATN has a true ending to Burst Generator, Surrender vinyls (2x and 3x) have an unmixed Got Glint.
Damn, I want to hear them now.
Aaaand it looks like Amoeba is sold out of nearly all the limited edition titles. Great.
These are like Christmas candy ;D Lovely shop near me that is on the handy dandy store finder! I finally have a turntable again but man oh man is vinyl ever an expensive hobby! I want the We Are The Night one. Hopefully they will have it in stock by the time payday hits on Friday.
They're selling them at Rainy Day in Olympia, WA! I'm (hopefully, if customs plays nice) going to be there in December so I'll have to go get one in store. How fun!
D'oh, yes Dec 9. Wishful thinking they were on store shelves sooner than that!!

My main question, will the original etchings be included? Or because it's US release are they going to use the old Astralwerks copies with no funness included? Mind you, I think that was only on the Astralwerks singles that the etchings weren't included.

I'm hoping they weren't all allocated to Amoeba. I just contacted two (fairly) local record stores today and awaiting a response from both once they contact their distributor.
I wonder how many tout-like snipers were lurking out there to get a good share of these limited editions just to put them on ebay at premium prices.

That really is the worst. Happens in every collectible market, too.
All thats left from Amoeba is WATN and EPD! I assume some copies will be available at the store on Dec 9 or earlier maybe.

As someone that has dabbled in a similar practice, reselling limited edition vinyl by the Chemical Brothers, doesn't exactly scream FREE MONEY! The total amount of re-sellers coming out of the pre-sale of these vinyls, are probably less than 5%. That is unless, I'm totally oblivious to a revitalized collectors market. But even then, I find it hard to imagine the profit margin to be worth a re-sellers time.
That being said, I'm slightly concerned I might have underestimated the demand on these, and should have just ordered from Amoeba when they were available.
I'm imagining Amoeba only recieved maybe 10 copies of each lp hense the quick sellout. Like Bosco said this seems too quick for scalpers, and Caroline seems invested in getting the records out to small record stores everywhere.

Just put my order in upon seeing this tweet. No tax apparently. And slightly cheaper than amoeba.

Am I being stupid waiting to buy it in person? I was going to take it as a sign of whether or not to fork out the money but that RED vinyl is looking so dang pretty.
I do wish the text was a little higher on the cover though... Clearly cropped for the CD and left extended for the vinyl. Looks a little strange, no?

It would be the first print with that extra bit on top. All the previous versions of the LP have the text in the same place as the CD. As far as I can tell...
ALSO. I just spoke to Rainy Day and managed to reserve a copy of Come With Us and Surrender to pick up on the 9th :music
Yup, here is my standard vinyl:
Bought the reissue of the fantastic album 'Push The Button'. The repress ist abolutely fantastic. So glad they reissued their whole back catalogue on wax!!! Can't wait to buy the rest.
I just got an newsletter email this morning from Astralwerks. In the newsletter they mention about the new C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L. being available on iTunes. But what really caught my eye was this change:
apparently they are going back to the edit cover version?
http://www.carolinestorefinder.com/chemicalbrothers/
New promos are running with the handless cover too.
I wonder if there was a run of WATN re-presses with the original art?
In the other case, the handless cover was never put on vinyl, so it's even more unique now.
Just saw that too. I love the original WATN cover :(
So glad I already have the original vinyl pressing and is not wore the fuck out.

Hm. 1,000 copies at 238 stores is around 4 copies of each batch. Well, at least it's good news for those who weren't lucky to get hold of a copy.
The store I'm getting mine from in Olympia only ordered 2 of each.
I suspect there are a bunch of other places doing a similar thing. Places specialising more in rock and pop than electronic. So it's still possible.
They're hand numbered too, right?
Got a promo code for amoeba, all 15% off, if anyone is interested, use NOV15 at checkout! Valid through November 13th :) (didn't test it myself as I already pre-ordered)
The UK vinyl reissue of WATN is delayed until December 30. I just got an email from "The Sound of Vinyl" webshop. So probably this has something to do with copyright issues of the artwork.
And the US coloured versions are delayed till 13th of January 2017.

That's strange. I'm not sure what's going on with the shop you checked.
I received confirmation that my orders were charged and are staged for shipment (including We Are The Night.)
I ordered from Bullmoose and should be getting the shipment Friday and will check the artwork.
Hi Whirly!
I just received an email from Amoeba with confirmation that my US preorder of the color vinyls have been shipped. I was mentioning the UK releases as my Chems collection is all about the UK releases (except for some nice US coloured vinyl versions of course). I have the feeling the UK release of WATN has been delayed for copyright reasons. What I don't understand is that my local record store in Amsterdam is selling a reissue of WATN (EU release) with the artwork with the hand and eyes. So does the UK release get the alternate artwork for WATN?
Amoeba has a competition to win test pressings of the entire collection.

Etchings people!?! ARE THEY THE SAME??
Got my two copies (WATN and PTB) today, or rather had to pick them up at customs, and yes, there are "etchings" on them. They're pretty hard to read on these transparent vinyls, though. What I was able to make out was only "Mike at the Exchange" and some numbers.
Btw, I feel like these pressings are a bit of poorer quality. My PTB copy has a rip in the record sleeve where paper is glued together (could be due to shipping) and the second sleeve isn't properly glued on one side. Also, some of the records' fringes are rather edgy and poorly cut out and some lables on them are looking mildly battered.
Nevertheless, artwork looks amazing. Let's see what they sound like. Man, that was my most expensive 2 records purchase ever :D
That means they are in fact presses of the ASW copies. No forum jokes for us then....aw :-[

I cant confirm or deny the condition of my records to compare, because mine are still all in shrink wrap waiting for a rainy day. But knowing the hassle you had to go through to get them, this is really disappointing to hear.
Looks like the second European vinyl version of We Are The Night is also getting the different artwork:

(At the bottom is says: Gerrit van der Veenlaan.... the Netherlands, so this is the second EU reissue of this album)
And release date is today (1st of may)?
Shame, I love the original We Are The Night artwork.

Well... this is the second reissue. The first reissue, from november 2016, has the original artwork, so now there are two :)

Oh, this somehow slipped past me. Thanks for the sentiment! The sound is pretty decent though (at least what my shitty 25 year old stereo can get out of it :D). Have you had any rainy days yet to get a listen?
