Interesting. Slow rolling a global DJ Tour perhaps? Opens a whole lot of North American possibilities if this is an actual thing...
31st May pretty much brings them into festival season as well. Would be well up for seeing them on the new Glastonbury Arcadia!

I would be incredibly down for this. I've never seem them DJ, and the restrictions on where they could play become much lower.
Optimism? Is that you?

why is the Navy/Yellow one so expensive? I assume Journal Standard is a quality brand?
CANCELED (sadly)

Quote from: via google translate:We would like to inform you that "THE BEACH 2025", which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, has been canceled due to bad weather.
We continued to consider the weather until the very last minute, but strong winds and heavy rain were forecast during the start of the performance, and the temperature was also expected to drop significantly. It was not expected that the weather would improve until the end of the performance. As a result of considering the safety and health of the attendees, we were forced to cancel the event.
This is very disappointing news for the attendees and related parties who were looking forward to this event, but we would appreciate your understanding.
We will refund tickets for those who have tickets, so please wait for the announcement of details and wait for contact from the NEWS and SNS on the official website, as well as the play guide where you purchased your tickets. Please note that you will need your tickets for a refund, so please keep them for a while.
We understand that some of you have already made travel arrangements, as this notice is just before the event, and we hope for your understanding.

They flew all the way to Japan to play a beach gig that was dependent on the weather

And there's no back-up venue?
Good luck selling those T-shirts!
Bummer :(

This is a risk at literally any outdoor event, so at each and every festival gig they play at during a live tour.

This is the most surprising.
A gymnasium with a makeshift setup and flashing lights, roll on. Give the people a bit of the old-school.

Yup - and tends to run smaller than US/UK sizes. The price is justified because it's nice thick fabric that falls very neatly, but triple check your measurements. I used to work at a store that specialized in street fashion and we got a lot of size based returns on those.
I'm so sad about the DJ set in Japan! I can't imagine how many people traveled all the way to Tokyo just to see them :-[
Replacement has just been announced! 5/31 solo (?) DJ set!

Glad they found a replacement this fast!

@ThePumisher posted his Boiler Room set in Now Playing back in February. I recognised him as soon as I saw him shirtless in an insta story just now. The Boiler Room set had two Chems tracks as well as some Underworld and Prodigy. Looks like he played Skipping Like A Stone last night.
It appears the Japanese crowd treated this more like a live gig than a DJ Set. They seemed to cheer every musical change within a track. For E.g: "Free yourself, free me (slight pause)...Dance!" (big cheer).
During the Hotstepping Chemical intro track the crowd start counting along: "four, three, two...".
And even during Bosco's nihilistic We Are Nothng track they seem to react to it like an old friend.
I'm reminded of the Temptation/Star Guitar footaage from Mount Fuji 2002.
Spoiler

And of course also the Don't Think film. Japanese audiences hit different (as the 'kids' say these days)
I don't think I can hear any additional newness in these clips. The shuffling snare techno track is still there, the samba/callypso type thing is still there.
I grabbed a clip of "AOAS/Too Much Weed, Too Much Wine", just because the lyrics seem quite clear in this recording.
In addition to Bosco's efort from 2023 below, I can hear "three blind muthaf*ckin' mice".
None of the lyrics bring anything up on google though. I guess not everything is on the internet after all...
Quote from: Bosco on Oct 02, 2023, 18:15More possible lyrics I hear from AOAS clip (not all verses included):
Jack was nimble, ? His foot was quick ?, ?He got fucked up, off of shit?
you got yours, and he got his, ?(_?_) all know, I'm the best ?
rhyme creator, ? pen-etrator ?, bring it all back, and do it to you later
Old school, never gonna die, How many (_?_) gonna try
?Singing? in the back, chillin in the club, waiting ?4-5? to show me love, show me love, show me love, (etc..)

That vocal sample goes so hard with AOAS

Too much weed/ too much wine
engine engine number nine
Straight from Philly (Philadelphia) to the New York track,
[unidentifiable] ?to the land of the land? smoke crack,
got so drunk/ got so high,
fell out the sky/ but in the end you didn't die.
Three blind mutherfuckin' mice,
one came first and the other came twice.
I much prefer this mashup/version of 'All of a Sudden'.
I would suggest the rapper is from East Coast (American) based off the lyrics and I don't detect any type of non-American accent.
Any rap junkies out there? Probably too high profile for something like this, but this wouldn't be Nas, would it?
Just getting updated with instgram... they played Method Man remix, Nice!
That Japanese crowd came with a lot of energy, that vibe is hard to match! Well done y'all.
Also, great crochet of No Reason character

That is also my impression from footage from every show I've watched from Japan.
Disciplined as hell when boarding overcrowded subways, but they know how to rave when it counts ;D

Very accurate description, but don't forget that Japan is also producing 72% of the worlds weird shit

I added the spoiler just to stop this post looking too bloatedTHAT is Fulu Kolektive & El Mopepe "Nfuka". I can't find it on YouTube, but it's on Bandcamp. (https://fulukolektiv.bandcamp.com/track/nfuka) Jump to about 2:40 to hear the bit from the clip. I think the Chems have re-edited the track (and improved it for the dancefloor). Good luck getting hold of their version though! Jump to 42:48 in the YouTube footage below/above to hear a bit more.
Speaking of stuff we can't get hold of, something else jumped out at me in the YouTube footage - at 38:00. A track with female vox that seem to sing "Bring Me Love". I had previously thought it was an old Goa Trance tune, but now I'm not so sure. The beat here is more like Breaks than trance. Also the multitracked vocals at 38:46 sound like AURORA to my ears. Could this be a "leftover" from the No Geography sessions? Would like to hear others' opinions on this.

The video is 1.5 hours long, but they played for 2.5 hours. Lots of tracks have been shortened by the YouTuber but it's not clear if he completely skipped some tracks.
There are several unreleased tracks from the Argentina set (https://forum.thechembase.com/index.php/topic,3424.msg37065.html#msg37065) that I didn't see in the Instagram stories or the YT video, so I'm not sure if they played them. They are:
1) The track at 24:18 in Nekoland's video that goes "The Rhythm The Rhythm The Rhythm...We get hiiiiigh", sampling My Beat by Blaze & Palmer Brown. I think we first heard this in their Amnesia Ibiza 2023 set, and I wondered at the time if this was the EBW that never got released. We're still waiting for an EBW from the last album cycle...
2) That hard grinding Techno track (30:26 in Argentina video) that goes "I've got the power" and also has "So funky...no bums!" vox sampled from The Wild Style by Time Zone.
3) The Menacing Bing Bong Techno Track at 51:09 in the Argentina video. With a male vocal on top: "move your body... relax your soul" and "I wanna dance to the beat"
Amazing job, Wolkenkrabber!! Thanks for find THAT track
