Ha! I remember this song! I always wanted to hear this song in a slasher movie. Girl runs into forest by herself, gets picked off by the killer etc.
Free yourself reminds me of a Milan fashion show where tom and ed are on decks while models are walking the runway and marking each other with lipstick and spraying cheap perfume while sammy the salmon is running around firing a glitter gun at everybody.

Mmm, so the Brothers are reworking the track like they did with C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L. Unfortunately they are overthinking it imo. As with C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L. I like the earlier draft better. This version sounds like Free yourself mixed with Under the Influence.
Not sure what you mean..? Doesn't sound so reworked to me.
It sounds like a jump cut in the middle, so these may be two different tracks. The second half is identical to what we already heard in previous clips as far as I can tell.
why they make this so short :'(

Free Yourself is the new Saturate.
I was thinking "Nude Night" on steroids.
I didn't like the DJ version of this track back when we discovered last year. But I was really impressed with the live version. I would probably say it's my favorite of the three newly featured tracks so far.

All the teasing for just an E.P.? There must be an album coming forth or I'm gonna be mad as hell. What are your dreams telling you, Enjoyed?

Yeah. I had forgotten about that.
Something about teasing the next track before we get to hear the full MAH just felt very EP-ish was all.
I guess kind of how Underworld released the Teatime Dub Encounters track pretty quickly in succession. Release, then move to the next. Release, move to the next etc.
I'm sure hoping for an album. I just got a vibe...
No dreams recently to back anything up.
There was this recent italian interview which is mentioned somewhere here on this board and an Instagram post where Tom explicitly wrote "album No 9".
I'd be very surprised if they released an EP next.
Yeah, please just ignore my previous comments.
CHEMICAL 9.
It feels so right.
(9 is my all time favourite number, incidentally)
Enjoyed you're not the only one who thought about an EP, I've bandied that idea about several times in the past few weeks.
Quote from: Enjoyed on Aug 10, 2018, 18:33

Yep, I'm feeling your logic. They teased a track (MAH/EBW12), then didn't release it. They now tease Free Yourself. Images have clearly been sent to the forum relating to both tracks (although the Free Yourself pics have disappeared). And official "Free Yourself" merch is now on the website.
Normally if you are releasing singles you promote one song at a time, rather than muddy the waters by teasing more than one. Unless you are teasing the entire album. But I'll be surprised if that's ready yet, as per the next paragraph:
Regarding the album, Tom did that BBC radio interview (linked somewhere on the forum) back in what, April or May? It suggested the album wasn't as far along as we hoped. So that means releasing some tracks in the mean time to coincide with the festival and indoor gigs.
My guess was: Release EBW12 in all it's full length DJ friendly glory on 12" only. Then a couple of weeks later release the "Free Yourself" EP featuring the three remaining songs (that we've heard) plus a slightly shorter edit of EBW12 (this time called Mad As Hell). Release it on all formats, sell the 12" and CD at the indoor gigs for five or six quid. Time has been 'bought'; release the album in 2019 when you're ready. Tour it through the 2019 festivals and add some more indoor gigs next autumn.
Now Whitenoise disagreeing suggests he may know a little bit more than us, but he can't quite say that. So maybe I'm talking out my ass. But if my logic is flawed, I want to know where.

^ How do you nab those screenshots without "Greetings Chemical Brothers & Sisters" overlayed? (MAH could be nabbed from the YT teaser I guess)
And I don't see any Free Yourself MP4s on their homepage.
ps: Tl;DR for my last post: why tease two different tracks that you haven't released yet?
I remember seeing the Free Yourself backgrounds and honestly, they just looked like homemade white text on a black background. I don't think it was the same font as was used on the t-shirt, so I'm assuming it was one of our boys just trying some things out.
Agree with the teasing of two tracks with no release. Imagine if they had teased SIFSD, and Go, and still hadn't announced release dates for either? It's odd. If not still incredibly exciting.

That changed in 2015. Friday is known as New Music Friday or Global Release Day. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Release_Day)
It used to be Mondays.
So you tend to get people popping up on say, Annie Mac's show on a Thursday night to tell us about their new music. And I think we would know by now if a Chemical Brother was due to appear on a radio show today, so I'm not holding my breath for tomorrow.
If the album ain't coming until next, I am guessing mid to late September.

Yeah, I was thinking the 28th as well. One, being it's just before the tour. Also, since the album is still pretty far out and won't be released until next year, end of September makes more sense.
Orbital's album drops tomorrow and I believe the new Prodigy single will be out this month, September is gonna be a wild month.
Shazam worked for me today on the "breakbeat" teaser but not on the other teaser.
Also worked on the tail end of the Fabrik Madrid 2017 audio, just after the flangey bits. But not on other bits of the track. Shazam can be temperamental though, so maybe someone else will have the opposite experience. No sign of this or anything else new on the Shazam GB website.
*EDIT* actually both teasers are Shazamable now.

I'm assuming the next one will be the full video hopefully.
I like how they used perspectives on these tubs to make them seem smaller/bigger.
Friday can't come soon enough.
Assuming this track gets released at 00.00.01 on Friday morning, that's 23 hours to go in the UK.
But you know, I was more excited for this track in spring 2017 when we first heard it. Want more than just one track now.
Single Artwork for Tomorrow.
I'm excited to finally get a polished and finished version of this track. Maybe the album version might be slightly different/edited like other 'big' singles have been in the past. (Depending where it sits in the new album I guess).
I'm predicting I'll listen to this too many times for one week and then put it to bed again until the new album. The bootlegs I regret giving into too much.
I yearn for the days when singles were released in physical form.

:music I am listening to it right now :music
Yeah, it leaked has been released already in some countries. Listening to it too.
How are you already listening to it?? Let me know!!!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!
I have it but I'm going to be incredibly and unnecessarily patient and wait until Friday when The Brothers Virgin EMI wanted me to hear it.
Unless you all go ape shit talking about how fantastic it is, then I might be persuaded to dive in early as well.
Oh, and...

Hey @Enjoyed
IT'S AWESOME!
Nit-picking time. The digital echo/reverb on "us" at the end of the track. I don't like it on this or indeed many other electronic tracks that end like that. Surely it must be possible to do a more natural sounding echo/reverb than that, especially if you have an actual studio.
*ducks head, waiting for defenders of that sound to put me straight*
Well now I'm just straight up intrigued...
Natural sounding reverb is not difficult. Especially with modern convolution techniques. It would therefore be more of a stylistic choice to have it sounding unnatural. Maybe a callback to older techniques? Dang.
Keep telling me things about the track. We'll see how long I can hold out today.

Singles with B sides used to keep me going for months. Even, at times, without albums to supplement. I guess we just have to relish in the fact that we were there while they still existed.
Folks born in
the echoes the last 20 years probably have no concept of that. Poor buggers.

The cowbell/percussion that comes in following the breakbeats is perfect. Inspired even. I can never get too much cowbell.
Oh also those tiny little backwards noises that sound a bit Star Wars-y to me. Nice.
Hopefully this is a less negative comment from me than the last one.
I think i've heard somewhere the bleep sound from the beginning. Maybe in some DJ-sets...
I do feel the mix/master is a bit too tame. I wish the production was a bit more Music: Response/Come With Us than more Born In The Echoes style. The track itself is great, just wish the mix gave it a little more edge/balls. Things feel to pushed back. I miss when Chems assaulted you. It's not the track. It sounds much better live where they're mixing it live and messing with it. Just needs that little extra edge.
I like the track, but, BUT..
1. Releasing FY, when you playing it live, and when was the livestream? Nothing new.
2. I don't like the manner to release an album version of a track like single with crossfades from another tracks.
3. OVERCOMPRESSED.
4. I hoped this "Do It Again live style" clap will not be in studio version. Crap.
5. Also i thought that pitched harmonizer on vocals is just for fun in live. Crap.
6. I feel some problems in arrangement or mixing, i feel some discomfort at 3:19, strong sequencies, pure bass, and then the drop to the mid ranges of sound. Geez. Unconfortable.
7. Verb-delay on the end? T&E, are you fucking serious?
Feeling dissapointment..

I don't like when the "full version" of a track in single is just the same from the album, second to second. T&E often do that. It's annoying. Given the fact, the tracks in their albums often have transitions to the other tracks.

I think I agree with all the picky critiques everyone has said and just to add:
The song deserves more of an assaulting underground old school rave vibe cause thats what the song reminded me of.
One thing that bugs me a little is that additional low pitched/male sounding vocal. I liked it without it. Theres something cool about her voice that's lost with that added with the contrast to the music.

Am I misunderstanding, or have you accidentally admitted that you know this single version is the same as the album version?
If you
don't know that's the case, then I'm not sure why this would be a complaint about this single in particular.
I will add that it would be nice if there were some remixes though.
@MIKL, I think the low pitched voice was always there, it's just clearer now. I think that's what Explud was referring to when he said:
"5. Also i thought that pitched harmonizer on vocals is just for fun in live. Crap" in reply #136 on the previous page.
Unless the audio quality was poor but the DJ mix version of it didn't have that additional vocal effect? Either way, I don't think they need it. I thought it was a live thing they threw in at the time too.
Very, very, very happy with this tune. The details are great. It sounds a lot like Born in the Echoes tunes, which I'd not be pleased about, but there's a lot of minute changes and details in the song that set apart (and maybe above?) tracks like SIFSD and EML Ritual, which are a lot simpler. Like the way the siren slips out of sync at the end, and how certain synth lines change note patterns subtly, and the wild fills. There's a universe in here. I really love this depth in an otherwise very straightforward dancefloor single.
I'll say more later. My limited goal is to listen to singles minimally so that I'm kinda familiar with the song but I don't really "know" it by the time the album comes out. So I don't know if I'll listen to it again beyond today.
I get what Explud's saying about the intro of the song - it does sound like the start of Surrender (the song) for example, where it could conceivably begin immediately after the end of a track.
And the folks bashing The Prodigy for repeating their sound from The Day Is My Enemy, this sounds like another Born In The Echoes track... and that is not a good thing.
I think what distinguishes the new Prodigy single from their previous albums Invaders Must Die and The Day Is My Enemy is the production, the new single is quite clean and powerful. Awesome low end, less dirty. The production on this new Chems single bugs me. I thought Born In The Echoes sounded too dry and tame, Free Yourself is the same.
I also agree, I don't like the pitch down male vocals either. Should just be the female vocal. That bugged me as well.
My first impression is this is such an intriguing track. To be honest I've not listened to much much live clips, so went in not knowing what to expect. It's fresh like that, I guess, haha. As others have mentioned, this is kind of vibing on Born In The Echoes, but I'm not decided yet if that's a positive or negative. Chems don't stagnate. I'm not sold on the vocal as to me they feel a tad bit flat and in such contrast to the textures in those bright bursts of quickly swirling siren-like sounds (my favorite parts of the tune, kind of reminds me of Flashback in a way.) But maybe that contrast is the balance this track is going for. Hmmm. Anyway. Again, first impressions of a rather intriguing track. Happy Friday!!

And for that I kinda wished I heard it now for the first time and my opinion would probably be less picky TBH I don't know. The swirling siren sounds and how they eventually 'sync' out of tune as Whitenoise said I've always liked too. I'm also glad they kept in the the intro build up that random tone that chimes in after the bass line. I liked that nice touch. The rhythm hasn't changed which is good cause that was down pat and gels the track together.

Nice! I like it! Especially the breakbeat part in the middle.
The released version mix sounds better than the leak. Must have been an audio rip.
Anyway, even though there are no surprises in the final track, I love it and it's nice to finally have the proper studio version of it, after two years of DJ Set rips and then Live rips.
Unless they don't release it on youtube too, I guess I'll have to wait a little longer since I'm not subscribed to any streaming service or amazon etc. nor do I intend to. I don't want to listen to leaks either, so I'm eagerly waiting for the album to hit the shelves soon.

I've felt like that since the start. I suspect the nature of this spoken vocal sample means the Chems didn't have to pay royalties to Diane Di Prima, so they used her voice. But I wonder if a warmer or more expressive voice might have made this a bit easier on the ears.

Well indeed. Perhaps the next track to be released will get the expensive Gondry video and a slew of remixes. And then six months from now we'll get a "proper" music video for Free Yourself a la SIFSD. And the next track may well get a big "Annie Mac" style preview/release.
They haven't released a proper video for this track (yet), just snippets of the live visuals.

As I kinda hinted at in a previous post yesterday (on FB), things seem to be going more towards streaming than buying. The link that opens up in this tweet has three streaming links and just two download links. No sign of FY on Beatport or Juno yet. Is anyone selling it in WAV?

I just read on twitter, though, that it also aired on Lauren Laverne's morning show.

Is there a way to re-listen to any of those tracks in full?
This is just a guess cause I can't remember the whole BITE promo/publicity trail but were they concentrating more on Apple Beats 1 as a media channel for airplay? Or were they still doing some BBC stuff too like getting the track on rotation etc? Likely Radio 6 but I know Radio 1 are very Pop at times for the demographic or if cause they went to Apple Beats they won't be doing a promo mix or anything like that for BBC? Like exclusivity agreements. Or cause the album is not til next year they'll hype it all up closer to the date cause everyone wants everything now and everyones attention spans are beyond short with technology.
I"ll keep an ear out for radio airtime down here. The new release show is Sunday Evening so a chance could get airtime then.

As its been pointed out, theres no video and the single is already out so maybe its a soft release and the official single will be later on.
This track does not feel to me like a Born in the Echoes track. It clearly has a similar mastering mark—but the drum samples reflect their roominess more like a Dig Your Own Hole track. With respect to the attitude, it reminds me of the fun irreverence of 2003 and of C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L. and less like the more ~serious~ tight composition style of Born in the Echoes. And the structure of the songwriting smacks of the bridge-chorus-breakdown pop-song motifs of 1990s Chemical.
I only heard the initial MP3 that was circulating and my opinion was based on that. I'm hoping the FLAC may improve the experience. I have learned that the wrong/low bitrate can suck the life out of a track. There was actually a study about that where really crappy bitrates actually made the song feel more depressing to people. Frigging weird lol.
Update: Nope, it's a legit 320kbps I had.
I really like the track!
Yes, it may be a bit "tame", but it's fun and would feel right at home on any dancefloor. I'm really looking forward to hear it live next weekend ;D
Free Yourself sounds like EML Ritual/C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L. mixed with the melody of Saturate and the breakdown of Base 6 with the production of the Born In The Echoes album.

there's a good track in there if they dropped the vocal, rolled out the little acidy arpegiated synth at the start/end a bit more, dropped the big cheesy bassline and worked the whole groove around the breakbeaty bit and gave the drums a bit more bombast!

It's not bad, but I won't hesitate to say it's my least favorite Chems album.
What we've heard so far feels like BITE 2.0 - in a good way. Similar sound signatures (I'll put a finger on what they are sometime!) but... better. More detailed. More cut loose. More wild. More doing what the Chems are good at.

It is a bit harsh, but I find I agree with some of these sentiments. Though I do still find this an intriguing track - as that was my first impression.
I genuinely liked this upon first discovery years ago now even when we weren't sure and only had a feeling it was new chems track they were dropping in there DJ Sets. It would be one of the favourite tracks you'd hear out for when they continued to DJ and wanted to hear more of it.
I instantly was drawn to it cause I still think this has the chems blueprint of the delicate hippie free love culture female vocals with some old skool feeling breakbeats and synth sounds. Clashing those 2 styles together is what they do best and are known for. In a way for me its the contrast and clash of these what I like about it. Like its mashed together, it fits well but you can tell them apart still if makes sense. Much like the swirling sirens and other synth sounds that sound like they are running off the tracks towards the end. The clash of cultures coming together.
Even with the original vocal sample, they still paid tribute to it in their own way as the meaning behind it is more of a call to arms protest on society as a whole not a fun, warm and fuzzy poetic vocal.
Just listened about 30 minutes ago, then read through everything you all wrote. I'll try to keep it brief.
I love it. Since I first heard the track in those DJ sets way back when, it felt familiar, like I had already fallen in love with it. It's simple, in terms of its structure and arguably it's production (mastering) but what I find interesting is how they use digital production and frequency effects to create the rawer feeling of the track. There's no wildly distorting synth line, but the delay-panned sirens sound wild despite that, and although they feel like they hit a ceiling of sorts, to me that increases the sense of wild WITHIN... if that makes any sense.
The bass sweeps during the section from 2:03 to 2:33 are another good example. Clean, for all intents and purposes, but the filter sweeping is kind of wildly sloppy, jumping up in frequency at sharp angles rather than smoothly. It's contained, but it feels like it's trying to break free, and I'm a big fan of that.
During the first listen, through my lil' bluetooth speakers, the vocals did sound a little flat at times, which I couldn't decide if I liked or not. The juxtaposition against the music is striking, and definitely deliberate, and I felt myself warming towards it as the track went on. Then I listened through my studio headphones and suddenly, with the rest of the track built around it, the vocals, and specifically their flatness, sit so nicely on top of everything. For me at least.
The breakbeat section is perfection. Let's just move on. Though I do want to say that the little samples, drum rolls, squelches, bleeps, and fills throughout those bars put a huge smile on my face.
The pitched down vocal also works much better through headphones. The slight delay, and being panned to the left side against a doubled up original vocal on the right is definitely a weird choice, but again, I feel like it sits into that world of trying to break out from the inside, a la the sentiment of the lyrics. I will say though, that the pitched down DANCE before the first drop is rubbish. Really unnecessary and definitely my least favourite thing about the track. If that wasn't there I think I'd be completely sold. The rest of the pitched down vocals I like though, especially that they come in later in the song as a kind of variation on the theme.
I also agree with those of you saying it feels more like a development of the BITE sound. It definitely would not fit on that album and the shift to more digital effects, filtering and general experimentation is I think what was kind of started with BITE, albeit in a very safe way, whereas here (and hopefully with the rest of the album) it feels like they used those textures as a starting point and then tried to see where they could push them. I definitely agree with Whitenoise about those hidden depths too. So many little nuances to unpick and appreciate on multiple listens.
The flanging drum fills are very early-2000s BT and I really like them being peppered into the track in places.
So yeah. Overall super happy. I don't think I'm going to limit myself on listens. I just want to enjoy it. And if we have 3 months to wait, that enjoyment is definitely going to roll right back around with even more momentum (especially with a busy few months ahead of me, personally).
I'm pumped. I love it. It's coming. Chemical 9. I'm going to go Free Myself again.
Really dig reading all of your feedback, everyone. Especially the 'brief' posts ;) ❤️
The track is growing on me, it's pure fun to listen to!
Diane Di Prima is still alive. Do you think she's heard the track?
I kept telling my wife she was surely dead (after she criticised The Chems for riding on her coattails by relying on her sample) but Google says no. Would they have reached out d'you think?
Hm, why would she be critizising the chems, though?
Happy to report the chems are still getting some airplay love with the most popular alternative national radio station in Australia on the new release show I mentioned. And in case any of you missed the non-embedded tweet I put on the previous page, Annie Mac played it as "Hottest Record In The World" on Friday. As soon as her show finished at 9pm, the next DJ played it as his first track. I guess this track is more 'club' and less radio friendly than say, Go. So perhaps it makes sense that it got played on the Friday dance show, rather than the more general Mon-Thu show.

I'm prepared to suggest that there is no link, Enjoyed is winding you up. I suspect he put the bit about assuming she'd be dead, then thought it would be fun to suggest the Chems had her "put to sleep".
@Enjoyed I asked Ed the same question you have just posed, the first time he tweeted #FreeYourself from RAR studios, but alas no reply from him. I wonder if she even knows she's been sampled...

There's been a little bit of a misunderstanding here. My WIFE said that the Chems were relying heavily on the sample, not Diane. It was my wife that was reprimanded due to her lack her faith in The Brothers' vision! I don't think Diane has said anything, not that I've seen.
I expect, as Wolken said, that she has no idea about it. Though, maybe a friend of a son or daughter of someone she knows has a friend that likes electronic music and maybe the message is on its way to her? Who knows.
Oh gee, yeah, now I see it :D.

Cause it's the official chems YT channel which I'd like to replace with Wolkenkrabber's to get some more views there.. but it might be region-blocked.
Not available, it says
I'm curious if the reason why there is no immediate corresponding music video for this single, is that they may do another visual experience like 'Further'.
The new live visuals have been pretty high quality on these last few tours. And while one might argue it's no different from the quality/production of new visuals from the 'Born in the Echoes' tour, something feels more in sync about these newer ones.

No sign of FY on Beatport or Juno yet. Is anyone selling it in WAV?
They are now. Well Juno are, but only as of today/yesterday (depending on your time zone), here's a Juno link. (https://www.junodownload.com/products/the-chemical-brothers-free-yourself/3921536-02/)
This delay surprises me as FY is kind of a clubby track, so surely DJ's would want to get their hands on it ASAP. They might also be part a dwindling number of demographics (besides hardcore fans) who would actually buy the track rather than stream it.
While I'm here, another thought about selling music in a streaming age. Sell the stems for people to remix themselves. It's already been done, albeit not fully broken down into all the parts. See here. (https://www.junodownload.com/products/new-order-complete-music/3096789-02/) Well, just a thought.
Surprised me to hear The Chems on the radio tonight! (On KCRW) :D The hubs and I were driving with my mom to her place, and we had the radio on instead of listening through our playlists (as we usually do). Free Yourself! So glad to hear it!!
Me and Stash simultaneously and happily surprised: oh shit it's the Chems!
I have to say this song has unfolded a bit, and it has quite grown on me.
Seems like they've done a 'radio edit' for this track as its slightly different. The beginning and end are tighter and get to the point more as the middle part which is what a usual radio edit is I guess.
I think I like it better but then I guess maybe they drew it out a bit more for the release so DJs can mix it in.

Prediction time: T and E in security uniforms!
Reminds me of that lady robot in the most recent season of Silicon Valley.
What was different with the first version uploaded?
Love Wide Open on the car radio at the start
News of Underworld's "DRIFT every Thursday from 1st November" and news of a new Chems video today. Two thumbs up!
I can only guess that releasing videos after releasing the track is a deliberate ploy to keep the track bubbling rather than to fire it into into the charts (which don't mean much these days). I can't imagine that Universal would keep forgetting to organise the video in time for the songs release.

I'm super pumped for this. But. I have to say, the constant teasing of everything is kind of getting a bit much. Especially with the MAH teases having never actually resulted in anything.
It's cool, and I'm excited, but I would have been equally, if not more, excited if they had just suddenly released a whole video. Currently, I simply find myself being reminded about 'the wait'. Waiting for September, waiting for the full FY release after the two visual clips, waiting until next year for the album that's apparently mixed already.
I dunno. It just kind of screams 'put something out to hold people over!" instead of "put something cool out!".

2 - every robot has a different face and theres a scene where you can see a lot of robots, and one of them is ed and one is tom (bonus prediction 2: somewhere in the background of that scene theres a robot with the face of the one-eyed girl from the The Test video (which, as you all know, is also directed by dom'n'nic))

I totally feel you, my brother. I was going to write a similar comment the other day but ultimately refrained (because I was already a negative dick in the Prodigy threat). The robot lady plugs her brain into the Matrix, but it is really the 1st iteration, where everything is a Utopia and no pain can be felt.
As she realizes the world is not fulfilling, she disengages and returns to the real world.
Except that she finds herself in the Escape Velocity music video and converses with the Come With Us talking head, who turns out to be the Architect. With all his ergo jargon, she eventually realizes that existence is only to dance. However, she never actually got that firmware update and cannot dance, leading to an eternal hell.
The cameo is that Tom and Ed are on all of the TV screens screaming "F*** YOU"

It'd be a nice surprise if the the new tracks we've heard so far end up sounding different on the album which would make a good excuse but as I type this I realised the album has already apparently been mixed.
Well, if they had any reservations of releasing a single on physical format, and it getting a relitively boost from the Holiday rush, Record Store Day Black Friday would be the day to do it. But I would suspect we would have heard about that already, if something like that was planned.
As for finally getting this single out, I don't know what the plan is. I just know with Christmas looming, this time of the year is a poor time to release music, unless you're a household name.
I remember Sneaker predicting a 2019 album release back in the early months of this year. It looks like his hunch is dead on. I wonder how he came to that conclusion being that at that time, it felt like momentum was on 2018's side.
Looking at their touring plans for this year was where i got my prediction from. A standalone UK show in October just screamed of there there was still work to be done on the album. If the album was to have been released in 2018 then chances are there would have been a UK tour in December.
If you want another prediction, the album will be called 'free yourself'
Still not long to wait now!
Right, but at that time there was a lot of open time on either side of the Ally Pally gig. That open time, could have easily translated into a UK/Europe tour. And then to finish, the traditional shoehorned Brixton gig in December.
I wonder if they originally had plans for this fall, but found out The Prodigy was planning a release at the same time and to avoid competition they delayed.
Good call on album title. I think you'll be correct there too.

Ally Pally tends to be one of those venues that artists play when they're not doing a full UK tour. For example New Order played there last night. It's their only UK gig of 2018. The philosphy seems to be: we'll play one (well actually two for the Chems) big gig and people can travel to see us, rather than us touring. They wouldn't play Ally Pally in October and then Brixton in December. Not realistic.
I'm also inclined to agree with the album title prediction. It would explain the projection at the Ally Pally gig. I believe there were some professional camera guys at the venue too, although somehow I completely missed them. I wonder if live footage of the gigs might be released around the same time as the album to promote it (deluxe version of the album: new music + dvd or download of the gig?)

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding this. The single is out; just not physically. I wouldn't be surprised if EBW12 is the only physical 'single' release this time round. It'd just be nice to see the FY video! And to to get EBW12/MAH.
lol, yeah, I had a brain fart.
I guess that's my brain telling the truth of how I feel about the track. I can't believe I already forgot about its digital release.

I'm sure that one of the reasons for touring this summer was to get round Europe and enjoy it one more time whilst it still easy. Before the chaos we are going to be heading into next year.
Let's face it with track like with titles like 'free yourself, 'mad as hell' and 'eve of destruction' this is an album feed on the current political landscape, but the best music is always made when there is something to rise up against.
I'm pretty pumped for this album, I know I'm in the minority but I loved BITE. And I like what i have heard to far of this album. I think they are very much in form at the moment, loving what they do. Maybe the break when Ed was studying has reinvigorated band.

The video legitimately freaked me out. :D Its an uncanny valley sorta thing, hahah!
The teaser clip initially had me feeling the video would be sinister in a Believe sort of way, but in its entirety it took a more fun turn. Robots just want to dance! Dom & Nic do it again! :music
Fantastic! Lots of little details going on in the video; I keep wanting to pause it to take it all in.
I'm wondering if they did the robots the same way L3-37 was done in Solo: A Star Wars Story, where Phoebe Waller Bridge wore the android costume and she was digitally erased afterwards.
The bit at 3.20 where you can hear Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge say "they can see my fanny..." (which
doesn't mean ass in the UK!) makes me laugh. Taken from this (jump to 7.07)this (https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5a24rq).
Also at 4.12 the siren noise being used to alert the security guard is a nice touch.
Quite a big T&E cameo this time. Has anyone got a list of all the Chems video cameos? There are some where I don't know where they are (Galvanize springs to mind).
Also the female "speaking" robot - is that meant to be the face of the woman from the live visuals, or am I reaching?
The noises from 5.35 are kinda ominous.

"It's robots having fun, robots being silly and robots raving!"

Or maybe - a reference to
Vegetable Vision, Adam Smith's old company name for the visuals he did for The Chemical Brothers?

I've stopped trying to figure out how that site operates. Bunch of crazies.
I fixed it: https://www.discogs.com/The-Chemical-Brothers-Free-Yourself/master/1456260
I enjoy the Paranoid London Remix.
I get Hey Boy Hey Girl flashbacks when all the robots are dancing in the warehouse with the strobe type lighting in the last half. Possibly intentional as well as they were skeletons.
Ever since the video dropped it has got me thinking how cool it would have been if they had added more layered voices to the free yourself vocal part near the end. In the video it almost sounded like a borg collective type of eerie voices.
Maybe Y'all noticed something in the video credits about the filming location, maybe you didn't. In case you didn't, pause the video at 2.22 and at 4.18. then look at the main picture on Printworks nightclub's (https://www.printworkslondon.co.uk/) website. See any similarity?
Also have a look at Google images (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=the+printworks+london+club&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=vmqf79ZJlIBiTM%252CAAAAAAAAAAABAM%252C_&usg=K_XlOoYLcAYusGpmm21hrFMRpJg2Q%3D&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjXt8yvwfDeAhXID8AKHeumBDEQuqIBMAp6BAgGEAY&biw=1366&bih=613#imgrc=_) including the outside (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x48760320e17dcf07:0x59a1321bada2b317!2m22!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m16!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!2m2!1m1!1e6!3m1!7e115!4s/maps/place/the%2Bprintworks%2Blondon%2Bclub/@51.4963986,-0.0459941,3a,75y,13.56h,90t/data%3D*213m4*211e1*213m2*211seyWzAaGjujXoAVI3Eyf7jw*212e0*214m2*213m1*211s0x48760320e17dcf07:0x59a1321bada2b317!5sthe+printworks+london+club+-+Google+Search&imagekey=!1e2!2seyWzAaGjujXoAVI3Eyf7jw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjXt8yvwfDeAhXID8AKHeumBDEQpx8wCnoECAYQCw)
Printworks used to actually be a newspaper printing works before it became a nightclub. And of course it hosted T&E on the final stop of their 2017 DJ tour last December in London.
Oooh, that's a very nice find.

Ready!
Wasn't that Bucketheads shirt on sale at a reduced price for Black Friday?
Also, am I the only one who associates Bucketheads with this?

Two years ago! (https://forum.thechembase.com/index.php/topic,709.40.html) (replies #46-49)
I was searching for "Free Yourself" on Vimeo in order to find any downloadable HD version of the video on someone's portifolio and I found it. So, I started watching it and, for my big surprise, it was some kind of
ADULT/NSFW version of it! :o
I haven't had time to watch it more carefully and discover any other differences but the big turn is on that scene with the robot couple wiggling and shaking in front of each other hahaha!
I was about to post the link here but, unfortunally, the video was taken down from Vimeo yesterday... But not before I managed to download it! ;D
In light of this situation, I don't think I could upload it anywhere without getting a copyright strike, so, if you guys want it, I could upload the 2gb original file or a lower resolution copy I've also downloaded.
Take a look :))

I could post the download link here but I am not sure about the communiny guidelines regarding this. Could someone clarify me?
Either way, I'll post the link in the Facebook group. Check it out! ;)
Should probably be on PornHub
didn't Fatboy Slim have an alternative music video for 'Slash Dot Dash'? I see to remember tatas flailing everywhere.
Funny find!

Don't sure on this but there's couple of alternative videos for "Don't let the man get you down"
Not sure if this was posted already: Behind the scenes

It's creepy when it is not animated :o
https://youtu.be/fn3KWM1kuAw
Pretty sure that is animated. The yellow guy especially looks very smooth and the lighting doesn't seem quite right when he moves... Could be wrong. But would bet money that it's not all real.

It is real, it's the Boston Dynamics robots, they can do crazy shit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sBBaNYex3E
This is 100% not animated, Boston Dynamics have been making more and more advanced walking robots for years.
Here's an already ten year old video of the predecessor of the yellow robot:

Also, if there ever will be a robot uprising, it will probably start at their lab:

Last Christmas Dave Seaman (proper DJ (https://www.discogs.com/artist/5867-Dave-Seaman)) made his re-edit of Free Yourself available... for free!
I've just stumbled on it today. It's not hugely exciting but if you want it, here it is. (https://selador-recordings.bandcamp.com/track/chemical-brothers-free-yourself-dave-seaman-re-edit)
