And I feel like I'm dreaming...and I feel like I'm dreaming...

In April I collaborated with a computer graphics professor at Purdue to create a Vaporwave visual mixtape with digitized CGI demos ripped from VHS. This was displayed in a local art gallery along with other students' digital art. Here's the full 12 minute video:

And the individual tracks w/o segues:

Let me know if you trainspot any of the samples, I bet you'll recognize a few of them. The compositions were completely sample based.
Never for money, always for love.

Very very nice, Noise! Love Are You sure.. and Changes to Untitled. Refragment is cool too, sort of a slowed down, laid-back reverb-bit-crush monster, love the title.

And I go doot, doot doot! Do I hear bits of Chico's Groove Mix2 in Changes too?
"You cannot eat money, oh no. You cannot eat money, oh no. When the last tree has fallen and the rivers are poisoned, you cannot eat money, oh no."
— Aurora (The Seed)

That was awesome. Really top stuff! Definitely heard Chico's in there. I'm sure there's other stuff I'm missing. I'll have to give it all another listen  :)

Over the last few weeks I've been putting together a DJ mix for a Halloween party a group of friends of mine are putting together and all DJing for. It's something of a sample-based big beat hip hop mix that blends all kinds of old and new styles together. Think you guys will really like it.

Nice.
1) Did you mix it all on software or use CDJs/USBs?
2) Are you turning into a long haired stoner dude?  :o

Thoughts on the tunage: Really enjoyed the first 25 minutes. Good music for my push ups & sit ups. Made me think of other big beat type stuff that might fit, like C'mon Cincinatti by Delakota or one of the remixes of Kid Loco's Love Me Sweet.  Then it took a turn for the "downtempo" between Properly Relaxed (26 mins) and The Moment Seizes Us. I guess those tunes aren't my cup of tea so much, and perhaps felt a bit "late night" for the time I was listening. I felt like it got back to what I like (or expected?) for the last ten minutes.

I realise you didn't ask for an opinion but...couldn't resist.

Software, in two ways. I test my setlists out in MixMeister Express so I can make edits and test out loops / filters on the transitions without doing it live, and once I have that perfected I export the edits and songs and bring it into Mixxx where I hopefully don't screw everything up.

Big curly haired dude - did grow my hair out, sometimes you just need a change! That photo is from a river cruise I and a few friends got to DJ for as well.

Part of the goal of the mix was to explore how other genres of music explore the same styles and influences as the first part straight-big-beat section of the mix. A year ago a buddy of mine played this at a party:

and it struck me how much of a natural extension of big beat - particularly Fatboy's "party" style - that track was. So this mix is supposed to be a culmination of that fascination.

Might be cutting Hesitation out of the mix, I like the track and the way it mixes but it does keep the tempo down for perhaps a bit too long. Still figuring out how to make it all how I want it to be.

Never for money, always for love.

I've been producing a while now and I owe everything to artists like the Chems who inspired me at 13 to start producing. I'm 34 now and have a pretty deep backlog of work consisting of a wide variety of electronic styles. Some good, some bad, some forever unpublishable... Here's some of the last couple years work.

Istanbul (Practically a Chemical Brothers cover - you'll notice how it's very much like TPPR).

You can definitely hear chem's influence in last 3rd of 1st track
Made these in the spring as I wanted to make a bunch of stuff before I moved apartments. Most of the stuff I made I want to revisit/sample/use as DJ tools. But, these 2 stood out as I made them a few days apart and screamed "2 song release" to me. I'd love to do an EP again, but work has been mental for last 9 months. I have very little time to do music these days, so this is a celebration of stuff I did make

i love chem bros omg!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done. That feels tailored for a movie sequence.

Hahaha yea cheers, pretty much what I was going for. I'd love to get into film/video game scoring.

It even got picked up by a major synth blog that I always read, which is pretty cool...

Hello! Please listen and evaluate my bootleg ;) The Tesla's Method

So you didn't like the chorus and decided to replace it with something a bit tougher?
Understandable, although I'm not sure I heard the word "Go" in there anywhere. It might be nice to hear Q-tip say "Go" at some point (could you replace "Hey" with a "Go" vocal sample? I don't like the "Hey"!), and it might be nice to get the bridge/middle 8 bit, and also a less sudden ending.
Also in the intro, the music seemed to be panned to one side too much [edit:that was my headphones; they're f&*ked!]. And it's really short. Have you got a longer version?
I like the aim of toughening it up. I always thought the original chorus section was really cheesy, so it's nice to hear a less cheesy version.
