I was digging through stuff on the archives and I came across this:

Quote from: Irishfan
You're also rumoured to be working with The Chemical Brothers - not a band I'd immediately put you with...

It's weird. When we put out our first 12" a while ago a bunch of people started contacting us and it was a real surprise as we were just a small outfit in Los Angeles at the time, but Tom from the Chemical Brothers e-mailed me and I was like that's not really my scene but I've always paid attention to a lot of electronic stuff. I've always dug the cats doing that and Chemical Brothers I always thought were really fresh. So for me I love making songs with other people, we've started working on something but my schedule has been so crazy we haven't finished it yet. But hopefully that will be ready soon

original article can be found here it is from a interview in june

The link that Irishfan linked is incomplete/broken, thus cannot be searched. I'm failing with any extended research on google. The only info I can find is that which the Chemical Brothers enjoyed his album from his group Plant Life.

Does anyone recall further details on this?

have you tried waybackmachie? You can find stuff from interviews and dead links from the early 1990s, so its possible that the link works there. but beware as some sites arent archived so dont be surprised if it doesn't work.
"The music Gets Louder, The Lights swirl faster, the chap who freaks out hasn't passed the acid test... A surprising number of these youngsters don't even know who Timothy Leary is..."

Never heard of that or the band. But maybe they were attracted by some song titles alone:

We Can Get High
"You cannot eat money, oh no. You cannot eat money, oh no. When the last tree has fallen and the rivers are poisoned, you cannot eat money, oh no."

Good suggestion, but I don't think there is any saving of the links in the archive. It seems that all links that were posted in long form, have been compressed by a program from the forum software and left incomplete. I'm guessing it was done to make it mobile friendly.

I wonder if Jack Splash was a early candidate for doing vocals on "Do It Again". That, or probably just a piece of music that never was realized.

There also was the MGMT rumor later on, but that was better documented...

Nothing there that sheds more light on this though.

Jack Splash can now be connected to St Paul and the Broken Bones latest album.

On Young Sick Camellia, St. Paul & the Broken Bones look to expand their niche. They tracked down producer Jack Splash, who is known for working with modern soul artists — singers who draw on tradition while also navigating contemporary trends.

Which is interesting beacuse Tom produced a single with the lead singer Paul Janeway for the video game Madden '17.
