What an extremely ungenerous comment this is. It's not exactly easy for the two of us to work together at the moment given the ever changing lockdown situation, but we put a lot of care and attention into preparing this mix to provide some kind of entertainment for people, also to support other artists. We have been working on new music as well, but this is what was ready to be shared. I must say it's a little dispiriting to read it being dismissed on your own forum, but guess that's the internet.

Uh oh!!

TBH i didn't think of it as ungenerous or a "slight". My primary aim was to ID some tracks (because yes, the artists should be highlighted - can you help Ed?). I offered a personal opinion on the kind of mix it is (to my ears).
As far as I'm aware, once something gets put out into the world, the audience forms their opinion on that, be it good, bad or ugly. It's actually not just "the internet", I'm a fan since "Siren" appeared on a JBO comp in 1994. I've bought all the records and have seen the Chems live on a number of occasions.
I wanted to ID the tracks because, as usual, I'm interested when a new Chems mix appears, Y'know, like a fan would be!
If you're reading this Ed, then my note that you played X2: Time Elevation on your insta a while ago might be a clue that I pay attention. I also enjoyed the Maxime Alexander track, hence my "nice chunk of acid" comment.
Feel free to fill us in on any of the tracks we haven't ID'd yet (because yes, we're interested!), And try not to be offended by my "audience opinion". I still don't think it's exactly The Essential Mix (the ones you've done for Radio 1), but that doesn't mean I don't think it has merit!
PS: the track 45 mins into the 2019 Essential Mix was listed as "Unknown". It had marimba or xylophone sounds on it. Can you please tell us about it? And maybe PM the Chems DJ edit of New Order's Fine Time to me? (Like you, I'm also a huge NO fan) Thanks!

DON'T. LOOK. DOWN.
