On a very personal note, R.I.P. to my unbelievably amazing companion, Pinky. Also known as: Pinks, Prrrinks, Sprhynx, Pinky Tuscadero, Pinkachu, Das Pinks, etc...

My family had the pleasure of spending 15+ years (we believe she was 16; she was a rescue pup) with this one-of-kind veggie loving dog. We sadly put her down yesterday, and it perhaps was the hardest thing I've ever done, yet, it was absolutely her time to rest.

Thankfully the process was beautifully peaceful. It's winter time here in the Midwest and it snowed the morning of her passing which was her favorite to play in during her younger years. By random luck, the Doctor/Vet that frequently assisted us with Pinky during her senior years at the Animal Hospital, was the one to administer the final shot/jab. No external drama, just a lot of hugs and a lot of tears.

Since Pinky was a rescue, we never will exactly know for sure what exact breed she was. Visually and personality wise, we are pretty certain she was part Schnauzer. Energy wise, I think she was part Jack Russell.

As for how I'm doing... there is a bit of relief, I can stop dreading the inevitable. But now that it's over, I cant stop noticing the voids and sudden change in my daily life. I do look forward to a more healthier sleep schedule and the removal from a constant responsibility... maybe.

If you got a dog, be sure to give your doggo extra scritches and stretch that walk for one extra block. If you're happening to eat a salad, save the the crunchy part near the stubby end, and throw a piece down for Pinks!

Oh fuck, no, Bosco! This breaks my heart and I'm getting teary-eyed reading this. This year just plain sucks.
In recent time, more and more keep I thinking about my sister's dog, Heidi, and what it would mean to us if she wouldn't be around anymore. And even though, just this morning, I had to scold her on a walk once again for outfoxing me while on the leash and picking something up and eat it, I can never truly be mad at her. I dread the moment you had to face yesterday so much.

I'm no expert at all, but she indeed looks like a Schnauzer mix. My grandparents had a Standard Schnauzer and he was a bundle of energy as far as I can remember (as a teen back then).

Man, I know exactly how that feels...

So true! And it's what I've been catching myself doing more and more lately.

Bye Pinky and a big hug to you, Bosco!
Wolf Alice is the best band alive.

Thanks @Csar

It sounds like we are/were in similar situations, as technically Pinky belonged to my sister, I just kinda became "The Master" and her primary daily caretaker over time, but especially over the last 2-3 years.

Pinky was given a golden situation. Once she was introduced to the family, she instantly was the baby among 5 adults and no competition. My siblings and I have no children yet, so she was obviously spoiled with attention. She was an extremely smart, playful, and loving dog who enjoyed being among people.

It's gonna take my family a while to move on. The sadness stings really bad...

Any who, I'm extremely thankful for this community being here to listen to me, and if anyone should need some future advice on the subject, feel free to reach out.
