Chemical Spotting

I have a double spot and I think I've mentioned these before a long time back perhaps on the old forum...

I randomly was watching the movie 'Meet the Parents' recently and came across the scene where Ben Stillers character fetches some boxers to borrow from a young adult son's room (Airport lost his luggage). Long story short, upon entering the room there is a glorious 36"x24" 'Surrender' poster on the wall in full view. I have the same exact one and it's spectacular.

Anywho, upon reliving this memory, I also remember there's a similar scene in the Douglas family flick (Kirk, Michael, and Cameron) 'It Runs in the Family' [2003]. I couldn't find any clips/photos on the web, but saw the free streaming website Tubitv.com has the movie in its library. I tried to screen grab some photos, unfortunately Tubi must have some built in script that disallows screen grab and pictures a black screen. Thus, I took some with my phone:

Looking back, I thought it was interesting how featured the Chemical Brothers were shown in this scene. And then I started putting together that all the artists posters and stickers are from the Astralwerks record label - which also can be seen in sticker form next to 'Come With Us'.

Awesome, that's a different kind of Chemical Spotting :)

It looks like the actor Pedro Pascal has godlike taste in music:

Edit: it looks like that it isn't possible to hear the music added to an instagram post if you're viewing this on a computer browser.

Long Way Home

Well, only took until episode 4 for Ewan McGrergor to name drop The Chemical Brothers and then play 'Escape Velocity' while riding about in Norway!

This week's Essential Mix from techno guy Adam Beyer has Do It Again (Massano Edit) around half an hour into the mix.  I googled it and it seems to be called the Massano Remix elsewehere.
According to 1001 Tracklists it has been getting plays from Anyma, Dom Dolla and Camelphat. None of those are my cup of tea, but they are quite well known acts.
There also seems to be a misleading listing for it on Spotify. It takes me to a playlist of dance tracks that doesn't actually include Do It Again. ...Unless I'm spotifying wrong?

Anyway, here it is. It's also on Soundcloud - same length.

The Chemical Brothers - Do It Again (Massano Remix)

Whilst I was searching the above track, I came across a couple of other re-edits or remixes (unofficial I guess) of DIA that came out last year.

...And another clip of the Blue Monday/FLIAD mash up can be heard courtesy of superdigitalsd .
2ManyDJs still mashing up FLIAD vox with Blue Monday, as per their Insta stories over the weekend.

1:30 version on AdAge website. This is the better version, I think.
IT'S MORNING TIME!

I was tuning into the radio broadcast of the Los Angeles Dodgers game via SiriusXM the other day and a version of "Hey Boy Hey Girl" (think it was a cover version that might have been recently discussed on the forum) was played to hype the crowd as the opposing team had a meeting with the pitcher at the mound. Shohei Ohtani was due up (his walk-up music is Michael Buble - "Feeling good" which proceed after)

Dodgers games are full of amazing music. The stadium organist frequently plays the Twin Peaks theme, Zelda themes, and beyond.

Joey Valence & Brae's (excellent) new track uses the "Back with another one of those block rocking beats" sample (at 1:35), immediately followed by the "bangarang" sample

It's 237!  That's also the best number because it would make you the Turbo Nutter of the deluxe owners
