BIG NEWS!!!!
So, this morning, I woke up to a YouTube notification. It was a reply to my comment on SBRK's upload of Ring The Alarm. And it was from an account called... "TOMORAOFFICIAL." Curious, I thought. What could that be?
I clicked on the channel to investigate. I saw that it was connected to a website: https://www.tomora.com/
On the website was a logo, a place to sign up for a newsletter, and live show dates...? Including Coachella? This was strange. At the very bottom of the page, I noticed it was attributed to UMG UK.
The account had one song uploaded, which was also on other streaming services, titled "ALRIGHT RAMEN." The song itself is just 20 seconds of static, with some beeping towards the end. I started thinking, what is this, some ARG? Did they just find this random video of RTA and decide to advertise on it?
I posted about it on Piku Playground, the chems discord server, where the lovely Hoosteen recognized that it seemed the name "Tomora" was a portmanteau of "Tom and "Aurora." The dots started connecting.
I looked again at the song title. What could "ALRIGHT RAMEN" mean? My internet mystery brain started kicking in, and I had the thought: could it be an anagram? I looked at the letters, and realized they looked familiar. Too familiar... then it hit me. "ALRIGHT RAMEN" is an anagram for "RING THE ALARM!"
It was all coming together. The song title, the name "Tomora," the fact RTA was registered on SACEM to just Tom and Aurora, the UMG publishing - Tomora is a collaboration project from Tom and Aurora, and it seems Ring The Alarm is a song from them.
Now, that's not the entire mystery. There are still a few things we might be able to decode.
Firstly, there's the "ALRIGHT RAMEN" track itself. We tried putting it in a spectrogram and looking to see if the frequencies showed an image (a common way to hide messages in audio), but nothing came of that. I tweaked with the audio, reversing it, slowing it, de-noising it, but couldn't find anything solid. It's possible there's nothing to it, and this is just static, but it would be super cool if there was something hidden in there.
There's also some more to the website. When you click anywhere on the page, some static briefly appears.
By investigating the code of the website, I found a link to the video used for the static: https://dctjpv2dbdrsi.cloudfront.net/haim/2025/glitch.mp4
Interestingly, you'll notice in the URL is "haim". This might be in reference to the musical group Haim, but I have no idea what they would have to do with this. Credit to Instantreigen for picking that up!
The static itself, if you pause it, looks like it has some pieces of a QR code in it, but this might just be regular old static, and have no secret message to it. Or maybe it does ??? :D
They also have listed on the website several live show dates, like I mentioned, including Coachella! I'm really curious as to what these will be like, and whether they will be traditional playing music in front of a crowd, or a more immersive experience, something different.
Finally, they have several posts up on their socials. I won't go over all of them, though they are interesting, but the most noteworthy ones are the first one, and their latest.
Their first: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRR9945COKt/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
It consists of a Marcus-and-Lyall style visual over the ALRIGHT RAMEN static, which at the end turns into a blob . This is the cover for ALRIGHT RAMEN. The caption is "TOMORA: A friendly companion on Earth 〰️." That emoji at the end is also what they said in their reply to my comment on the SBRK video.
And finally, their last: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRkYLWuiFOH/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
The audio is again ALRIGHT RAMEN, and the video is someone stamping vinyls with the "TOMORA" logo! This may mean that RTA is already having test prints, or being printed! Exciting!
So, TL;DR: It seems very likely that Tom and Aurora are coming together as "Tomora" and releasing Ring The Alarm, hopefully soon. They will also perform at Coachella and a few other festivals.
Edits: Embeds not working, lol

I'm freaking out
The fact that they are forming this new project together instead of just releasing RTA as a solo track means that they must have a bunch more music on the way. Maybe even a full album considering they will be playing live
... and the Instagram page is followed by Tom's partner Vanessa ... 🤔
Tom Rowlands and Aurora Aksnes are listed as owners of TOMORA LIVE LLP (https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/OC458716/persons-with-significant-control) so it looks like this is all but confirmed

unrelated but worth noting that aurora had worked with adam smith and kate tabor on the visuals her last major tour, the LLP was founded seemingly as a live project too so are we to expect a fusion of both shows? perhaps her tour but with more modular chemical action from tom or something very avant garde...either way i'm so excited!!!

I don't think there is anything that special about it having an LLP. The Chems have their own one. It's just a standard thing for touring and creatively doesn't really indicate anything.
Wow, Chemical detectives of the world unite (as The Smiths once sang).

Hmmm.
From No Geography:Eve Of Destruction

The Universe Sent Me
From What Happened To The Heart:My Name
My Body Is Not Mine
Tomora:Ring The Alarm.
So six potential tracks so far? And yeah it'd be odd if they
didn't use Smith & Lyle visuals.

I'm sure I'm on their radar, from my channel they also posted the Under the Influence at Glastonbury 2015 video on their socials in the past
On their youtube channel, there's a post "See you there" with this picture :

There seems to be coordinates but they're hard to read. I tried entering what I think I'm reading on the first one, but it's in the middle of the Pacific ocean 🤨
EDIT: it's in better resolution on Instagram, and it's just the coordinates of all 3 festivals.

Yeah it's Bed Love by Tomora.
When I last listened to this (and commented) in the summer, I was relying on my tinny laptop speakers which meant that:
a) I didn't hear that pumping bassline.
b) I thought I was listening to an alto saxophone, but now I think it's a vocal singing "da da da" or something. So we kinda have two layers of Aurora vocals going on.
This is such great news.
I hope the live performance are not going to be just festival appearances. I hope they will play small venues. I miss seeing the chemical brothers playing live in nightclubs.

Please let there be CD releases
Looking back at No Reason, the first full preview was sent out March 8th, and the full song came out March 17th, so 9 days later. Now, given, this isn't a full official preview. So I'd be surprised if it was in the next few days - I'd guess closer to two to four weeks. We can hope though!

Second this! I'd totally get a CD. Maybe one day I'll be fancy enough to buy a good vinyl player, but until then, woo CDs!
Maybe the vinyls have been secretly sent to select record shops ?
I'm very excited about this, but I will be actively trying to avoid disappointment and will not be expecting a CD release. Very much gone are those days, sadly. Especially for something quite specialist like this.

Okay. Tom wandering off to do an entire side project + tour with a frequent collaborator has not once been on my bingo card. But man I'm here for it.
This track alone is starting to mine a spacier, goofier vein that hasn't really been mined in the Chems work for over a decade - but it's fresh at the same time. Which I'm quite excited about. This almost fits in between the goofier parts of WATN and Hanna, with the engine of MAH or Feels Like I am Dreaming plugged in.
In the last five years it's the Chem's collabs that have resonated more with me, for all the different colors and angles other songwriters bring to the table. I'm interested to see how much territory Tomora will cover, from manic bonkers hits like this to more indie territory like The State We're In, Pills Won't Help You, Alive Alone.
Good start, keep it fresh.
Looks like AI also had a tough time with the lyrics...

The first beat actually suggests this isn't track 1 on the album either. There's a single kick drum that doesn't sound like it's featured anywhere else in the track (though it could be buried under the more synthetic kick that shows up later).
I'm thinking this whole thing is going to be b2b. And again, placing my bets now that, at some point in the journey, we're heading to the Vatican 8) .
I admire that pretty much every sound is low end rich yet the result mix is really clear and spaced and not a hot mess

Yeah, who could fault AI for that! In the most current teaser I also heard "alert" at the beginng, but it's that synth effect that clutters the last syllable.
But I guess it speaks for all of us that we heard Bring Me Love. What's better out there than that :)

I like RTA's break beat but too bad the most interesting drums come in right at the end (which might be also a segue, like Enjoyed/ Bosco mentioned). This track lacks one or two drum fills. Why do they never think of drum fills?

I still can't believe this news. I discovered AURORA thanks to the Chems, and from the very first moment I loved her. Now with this new project I feel like I'm flying above the clouds. I remember dancing like crazy to this song during the DJ Sets in Argentina. I remember those percussion hits that show up in the middle, and I got chills hearing them again.
I love that Tom keeps creating music, projects, and this sort of TCB alter ego... I feel like Ed is really enjoying fatherhood right now, and that means the Chems will be back in a few years... but in the meantime, LET'S FUCKING RING THE ALARM.

Hi.
Aurora (and Tomora) fan here. I don't have anything more on the lost-in-the-woods story, besides what she said in that old NME interview.
But she did briefly talk about her trip to England to record the No Geography tracks, when she hosted a Norwegian radio show in July 2017, and the trip apparently cured her first and maybe only writer's block.
The tracks was apparently made/recorded early 2017, ~2 years before the album release. Which is not really a surprise to Aurora fans, since she has her 2017 long hair style in the Eve of Destruction video.

(CC for Eng Subs) or here is the transcription:
QuoteI'm Aurora, still. Hello. I am still here, and you are listening to NRK P3.
And as maybe some of you may know, last year was a very wonderful and hectic year for me. And I remember I was very excited and looking forward to finally being in the studio again. And get to start writing more music, and release more.
And when I then was in the studio in January this year, it was just completely empty. I had nothing to give. And I was really terrifying. It is actually my first encounter with "writer's block".
I felt like that my opinion... It was like for a... in a way a lion to have no teeth. And I was pretty empty, really. It's scary to be empty. Not hungry and not full and not tired or awake, just nothing. But you just are here in like a body, and then it's empty.
But then there was a journey for me that was to become incredibly important. And it has something to do with the next song I'm going to show you. It's called "Escape" (Escape 700) by "The Chemical Brothers". And I have been friends with them for a long time.
And especially since "Tom Rowlands", he who makes the music in "The Chemical Brothers", after he made the soundtrack for the film "Hanna", which is one of my favorite films, then I became completely like... it was so lovely to hear. How many pieces of sounds you can put in layers, and how beautiful it is. And how raw and lovely. And it was so incredibly inspiring.
And then I got an email this year from Tom from Chemical Brothers. He asked if I wanted to work a bit with him in the studio. And then of course I said yes. It was really fantastic.
And then I traveled down to the coast in England. I took the train. And then I lived with a host family from India. And I taught the children to play the piano. And I helped the mother fix the garden. And it was so beautiful. It was completely quiet, no mobile coverage. I didn't have TV or computers or mobile for five days.
And then I got to be in his studio. And he lived in a huge house. He had a basketball court and four pools. 12 turntables. It was amazing how big the house was. And he was so incredibly kind. He had a wonderful wife and two wonderful children. And we wrote some really, really fun music that maybe they'll have on their next album.
And it was such an important journey for me. Because I was just... that host family didn't know who I was. It was so nice to meet someone with such a blank slate.
And be so fond of someone. And in a way be with a child. And work in a garden. Such simple things I never do. Collect pebbles to make gravel outside the door. It is just so tiny things. And bathing in the water, and petting ponys and... I milked a cow. And it was very, very, very nice.
And when I came back home from that trip, then something had to open up. I felt me... I felt like I had been on a really long journey. I was totally like... I had gotten the break I needed then. And then it came. Everything at once. And after that I have written really a lot of songs. And now I have very nice and big hopes for the second album.
And now you're going to hear a song by "The Chemical Brothers". It's called "Escape" (Escape 700).
Whooo boy am I obsessed with Ring The Alarm! What a bubbling seismic burst of energy that song is. I absolutely dig it!!

Hi and welcome! Thanks for that anecdote. Also nice to listen to her speak in her mother tongue.
Are you by any means familiar with this documentary "Once Aurora"? Seems like this falls into that time period. It was really weird to watch and I could just make it halfway through because of her distress (want to finish it one day, though). Have you watched it?
Interview (behind a paywall, though)
QuoteWhat does a new beginning look like? For Ring The Alarm, the debut single from Tomora – a new collaborative entity formed of The Chemical Brothers' Tom Rowlands and Nordic artist Aurora – their long-time shared visual architect, director Adam Smith, has the answer: a neon-tinged, otherworldly promo brimming with the frenetic visual energy that has defined his collaborations with both artists over the years.
"Tom and Aurora started playing me stuff quite early on, and it was brilliant," Smith enthuses. "I think I first presented them with 300-400 images – far too many. But that's kind of the nature of how this project has worked. It's been very collaborative between the three of us. From a load of images, Tom and Aurora picked the ones that spoke to them and spoke to the music."
Pairing Rowlands' dependable brand of floor-shaking electronica with Aurora's soaring, ethereal vocals, Ring the Alarm echoes the duo's previous collaborations across three tracks on 2019's No Geography. But Tomora is an altogether different beast. It's already sparked fierce speculation on Reddit, following an ambiguous appearance on the 2026 Coachella line-up in September, long before this week's big reveal – something that both had been unaware of.
https://www.creativereview.co.uk/tomoras-world-inside-tom-rowlands-and-auroras-new-musical-project/
And
Quote"We wanted TOMORA to be a band, not two individuals. It's our musical feeling come to life," Rowlands and AURORA said. As for "Ring the Alarm," it has been stealthily included without a proper introduction during recent Chemical Brothers DJ sets, leading to robust online discussion about its identity.

Yes, I have seen it, and it was recorded 2016-2018 and released in Dec 2018.
It can be hard to watch, and really can make you angry at the music industry.
Aurora actually posted 2 "statements" about the documentary, when it was released, and they can be comforting to read:

I also recommend the "Nothing Is Eternal" short "documentary":

and the TV show "HAIK" where the host drives Aurora around in a van to different surprises, while we learn about her life, and it ends with a concert in the forest.
This is the best quality of it (not my channel and not monetized): (CC for Eng Subs):
Stop watching part 1 at ~35min when she starts singing, because the rest of Part 1 is just the concert in an abbreviated version, while Part 2 has the full concert.

Has anybody noticed that the "Album Version" on Youtube is overmodulated (is that the right translation? => The sound is at peak, it is clipping most of the song...) compared to the "Radio Edit"?
Take a look at the waveform for it =>
Bild_2025-12-05_183202619.png
The above on is the album version, the lower one is the radio edit / video edit.
Can someone check if this is the same on other sites/services? Maybe Bosco for Apple Music?
It appears to just be the level they were mastered to. That's not clipping - you'd hear it in the track and it would sound ugly, especially in the kicks - it's hard and fast limiting at the mastering stage, so the track can achieve an appropriate amount of loudness. This mostly softens the transients (the initial click) of the kick & other percussive elements. That way the rest of the track can be heard at a good level without clipping. There might be a small amount of saturation added to the master as well.
The difference you're seeing in the two is that the music video was left with headroom, while the album mix was mastered up to 0db. It's the same master, just one is quieter.
I'm only looking at what ya sent of the waveforms though.

Some highlights from that article:
Adam Smith's involvementQuoteFor Tomora, Smith's involvement came about following an invitation from Aurora to join the duo while they were in the midst of recording in Norway.
Quote"I remember saying, 'I don't know if Tom will necessarily want me there'," Smith laughs. "But Tom was like, 'No, come out.' And it was just brilliant.
Quote"But it was such a gift to have it presented by Adam, because he's so detailed and really goes into it with his whole mind and soul, just like me and Tom."
Narrative of the music videoQuoteThe central thread follows a loose narrative based around a journey from repression to freedom, embodied by the character of Ora, portrayed by Aurora.
"She has arrived on Earth or become conscious of being on Earth, but has no idea what Earth is like," Smith continues. "It's a sort of Poor Things, Man Who Fell to Earth scenario – but also neither of those things. She's in a kind of factory setting and she's disrupting the whole thing, by ringing the alarm."
Starting a new bandQuote"We both come from places that have a very clear identity that's been established over years – decades, even – but we have faith in ourselves," he states. "The music is there, obviously, but doing this thing that you would normally do over a process of years, finding your identity and what it is, that's quite daunting."
QuoteThese photos we took the other day of the two of us together, seeing those and going, 'Oh, that does look like it could be a band, right?'" "It was like, 'Oh, there we are. That's Tomora'," Aurora interjects.

Tom's cameo in the music videoQuote"We used to go to our video shoots a lot and there would maybe be a little cameo, or something, but it was fun being on the set," he says. "I think it was really cool that you did a small thing though," Aurora adds. "It makes me very happy. It's my favourite part of the video."
Performing liveQuote"I think we're very secure people that are good at their craft, that also don't know what they're doing," Aurora states playfully. "It's a very nice place between a lot of certainty and the unknown, but we're very calm about it, because we know that when we get there, it's gonna be fine. We'll know what to do, Tom, don't you think?"
"I think I'm gonna need this little pep talk before we walk out on stage," Rowland laughs. "But also, it's a kind of imperative to play live. I just felt that the joy we had in making it and in the studio and the feelings it was giving us, it was like, 'This needs to be shared out.'"

Thanks for the quotes! That's indeed comforting in a way, because I watched it and it felt a bit surreal. Couple of takeaways that I could understand...
- Tom was mentioned to get emotional with the vocal sessions (referring to Aurora) they had for Tomora, so I presume this project is more than just a dance outlet.
- Tom will have some background vocal work featured on this project.
- Tomora is to be considered a separate entity, with unique personas? Aurora (via Translator):
Quote"we play characters with stories and missions that are different from our usual selves, and we sing from the standpoint of characters. So I write words while thinking about what the character wants to convey, not myself, and a completely different lyrics are born. It feels like opening a new door, doesn't it?"
- Adam Smith seems to be the continued visual creator for Tomora

Also possible insider information: @aurorafranceoff said the song will be released "very soon"...
Aurora songs are often released on Fridays or Thursday evening midnight local time in each time zone, so maybe...
It will be released tonight midnight in your local time zone, or you can use VPN to NZ/Australia or where ever it is after midnight:
Oh i like that a lot
edit: listening right now. I like that a lot...
edit2: massive Massive Attack vibes
edit3: and a bit of Goldfrapp
Ok, I wasn't prepared for THAT! Colour me surprised. It's got texture, mood and melody woven into each other quite nicely while retaining both artists' unique traits. The last part could have been a tad longer as I really enjoyed those pads coming in and make everything a bit spacier. The intro reminded me of Seal for a short moment but then took on a life of its own.
After what was for me a rather disappointing FTBF and underwhelming last two albums of Aurora's, this gives me hope again.
Maybe she's right and this may be a thing. Must be.
What a refreshing track in a world of ADHD driven 2 minute songs !
Quote from: ThePumisher on Jan 14, 2026, 19:37edit2: massive Massive Attack vibes

Yes. Almost like Teardrop with a more scandi-folk vocal.
Where she sings high like a whale(!) I'm also reminded of those Scandanavians, Sigur Ros.
The groove bit circa 3:46 reminds me of One Too Many Mornings.
And the bit at 4:13 reminds me of something too. The tail end of Taste Of Honey, maybe?
This sounds too good to be a B-Side???
Got to agree with everyone's positive reactions and soundalikes. If I have one criticism, it meanders a bit in the back half... but I like the meandering!
Majestic tune. Interested to hear more!
Come on! When can we expect wide physical release with these 2 awesome tracks.
I think FTBF is
almost essential Chemical Brother output, but I'm understanding if people are indifferent about it.
@Csar , we need you at the next meeting of "the minds" with our late-night debauchery to air your grievances.

It could be that this is held until "Record Store Day". It coincides with their first LIVE date at Coachella, so I wouldn't be shocked...

Yeah, a RSD limited release, which than still can be found months later, also jumped to mind.
Just miss physical releases coincide with digital releases.
Off topic: anyone heard that Jamie XX' remix of 'Dopamine' by Robyn? Awesome track really in need of a 12" extended release
I like The Thing

Fun fact, my first listen of The Thing looked a bit like that picture, I had just gone to bed, saw the release and listened to it with the phone stuck to my hear so I would not disturb my partner who was sleeping next to me 😅

The specific date GENIUS supplies for April 10th is interesting, though...

If you click "Show unavailable videos" it says that the hidden video is just an auto-generated video for Under The Water, which also appears in the same version of the playlist on other platforms.

Quote from: feedmevinyls on Jan 21, 2026, 06:40The leaked release date of the album was April 10
Is this based off that pay walled article that was previously mentioned? I know it was mentioned as a springtime release, just curious where it was narrowed to April 10th.
This article (https://nieuwstehits.nl/tomora-ring-the-alarm/) at one point said:
QuoteWith TOMORA, they take that chemistry to a new level. Their first album, Come Closer, will be released on April 10, 2026.
Another article (https://www.dansendeberen.be/2025/12/04/debuutsingle-tomora-ring-the-alarm/) also said:
QuoteTogether they started working on an album, which will see the light of day sometime in the spring of 2026 and with which they will travel the world.
I've heard that Aurora's team have been directing people to remove references to an album so that's probably why these were deleted.

Good spot, thank you. Just to keep people's expectations realistic, I'll be surprised if Tomora do the full two hours.
Having listened to The New Music Fix show before (presented by Deb Grant and Nathan Shepherd), the guest mix tends to be 25 to 30 minutes of the show. Tomora might not even be there in person - it may 'just' be a mix with a pre-recorded "helllo" from Tom n' Aurora.
I'm happy to be proved wrong on this though. Looking forward to it.
2h or 25min - somebody has to record or download it and then be nice to peeps outside the Kingdom
Host just said a couple of unreleased tracks to be expected.
Did i just hear that Star Guitar mashup from their latest DJ Sets?

This seems very odd to me. Why kill the hype? Unless it straight up isn't happening, wouldn't you want fans to get excited about more new music?

I just tuned in again and started listening to the mix. It seems that the first part is the intro to Ring the Alarm, no? Perhaps the first tracks on the upcoming album?

Actually no, you didn't. They have been playing Two Shell's Ghosts mixed with SG claps since the 2024 DJ dates. Which is why I said the bit in bold in the quote below. You can also hear the most recent track that they
have been playing with SG claps in the quote (well, click the link to the original post, and also see
@nekoland 's post on that thread):
Quote from: Wolkenkrabber on Nov 25, 2025, 21:11^ I've just realised it's the same track that I flagged up in the Fabrik Madrid thread recently.
It definitely sounds better when mixed with the SG Claps.
Come to think of it, Two Shell's Ghosts also sounded better with SG claps.
Everything sounds better with SG Claps!
I don't think we've ID'd the new track yet but I suspect it isn't Chemical.
Apparently Tom calls the claps "Stardrum".
Interesting to hear "Give Me My Thunder" - exclusive NG re-edit action happening here - Essential Chemical listening!
Also nice to see that James Welsh track in there. I posted the track recently in Now Playing along with a comment about a previous Chemical Mix appearance:
Quote from: Wolkenkrabber on Dec 13, 2025, 20:00Another track released a couple of weeks ago. On Erol Alkan's Phantasy Label. James Welsh previously popped up in the Chems' Odd Bod Distress mix back in December 2020.

I actually thought the opening noise was from the Life of Galileo soundtrack. And maybe it is because it isn't from Hania Rani's Sentimental Value.

It already exists as an unreleased Aurora song, which has leaked and is on yt.

To slowly release information and build momentum for the album. It's all about marketing, as shown by everything TOMORA has done so far.

Only one track, the one you linked, out of the 10 from the Sentimental Value original soundtrack has been released. The full album releases on January 30. The one in the intro is almost certainly just one of the unreleased songs.

Decently big Hania Rani fan and I can almost guarantee that intro sound is not from her. She works with synths plenty but it's always rather neo-classical. Maybe I'll eat my words and she's trying something new with the soundtrack but I'd be shocked.
On deleting references to the album - wouldn't be surprised if the album is delayed or just not quite set in stone. Some early press releases might have gone out with a date and name that now need to be retracted since the album won't arrive like that (or on the date stated) but some publications didn't get the memo. Marketing and PR is a pain. If it's an intentional bid to get word of mouth or discussion going by letting the album announcement be nothing but deleted rumors so far, it's a little awkward and uncoordinated compared to the rest of what they're doing.
This whole project still feels so good, hearing Tom cut loose. The Thing makes so much sense, it's like a missing link in the chain of Chemical Brothers work, like of course a song like that finally exists. It could have come out anytime between 95 and now, but just didn't for any number of reasons. I'm reminded of Underworld talking about needing to not be Underworld for a while in the run up to Barbara Barbara, to not write music in a style that fit the expectations of UW in order to love the process and create again. There's definitely expectations for what a Chems album is these days. Same probably goes for Aurora and her own hype cycle. But Tomora can be anything. Good on em.
Love them casually revealing that the No Geography riff started as a demo with Aurora.
