I really want to be super annoyed that I haven't gotten to see Chems on this tour, but I've been lucky to see them 4x.  And this year I will have seen for the first time Underworld in Detroit, Kraftwerk in Columbus, and New Order and Pet Shop Boys in Chicago.  At home in Cincinnati area, got Dollyrots on St Pat's and Gary Clark Jr opening for Black Keys this summer.

Edit:  You know what?  I lied.  I'm going to bitch.  Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is at Grand Ole Opry the same night as New Order and Pet Shop Boys in Chicago.  Fuuuhhh...

Congrats Born In Planet Dust. That's a nice slate of shows for concert season.

Forewarning, the show for New Order/Pet Shop Boys in Chicago will be a fuckin' squeeze on the wallet. It's a fantastic venue to catch summer vibes as long as the wind off the lake is tame and temperature is steady. But it's extremely hit or miss especially for the cost.

Unfortunately, I'm gonna be skipping out unless a favorable deal comes my way. We've gotten New Order twice in Chicago the past 5 years. Let alone Peter Hook seems to be touring here every other year.

September belongs to Riot Fest as far as I'm concerned, and that's where I'll be.

Man, this is just fantastic. I was glued to that video. It's like a window into the past, so vivid, like you were there. It sort of makes history come alive. The coloring must have taken ages to complete. In recent years I've noticed that I'd become more and more appreciative of footage like that, unlike in my highschool days, where videos like that shown in history classes would have been considered "boring" by my ignorant young self.

^ well said Csar. Thanks for sharing Pumisher.

Not a single cellphone in sight. Stuff like this enhances the meaning of landmark.

As a history buff, the video amazes me. the fact that everyone in the footage is long gone, and yet it feels like someone filmed this on their phone with an instagram filter. the skyline looks so real, yet it looks like something straight out of an art cell for metropolis
"The music Gets Louder, The Lights swirl faster, the chap who freaks out hasn't passed the acid test... A surprising number of these youngsters don't even know who Timothy Leary is..."

Here's the original film released by the MoMa:

The guy above allegdly used neural network AI to colorize and speed up the footage.

There's also upscaled video from Moscow :o

Hi Kevin!

From 1896 no less!! In those two clips you can tell how new film making and photography was by the  people's intrigued looks and starings at the camera.

If you 're a member of the Phantasy private FB group you may or may not have seen that Erol Alkan did an "Ask Me Anything" a couple of days ago. I missed it at the time, but he certainly did his best to answer all kinds of questions, from his favourite hardware synths and fave FX to how he likes to make the best coffee in the world. He even answered a question that I think someone chucked at the Ask Tom Rowlands thread: Would you rather take on 100 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?
Speaking of Tom, Erol was also asked a Chemical question:
Quote
Will there EVER be a release of Tom Rowlands edit of lack of love?! I NEED THIS!!!!
And Erol replied:

Oh god, only Tom can answer this.. but I reckon it will one day... its too good to just remain on theirs and my USB keys..
IT'S MORNING TIME!

I went to that sex site from the spam HELLO GUYS thread. After about 8 hours, I was able to verify it was not Chemical Brothers related.

>:D
Uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Coachella will premiering a documentary on YouTube celebrating 20 years, Friday.

I imagine it will be full of crap (judging by the trailer), but maybe some unsurfaced Chemical Brothers footage might be in there(?).

I'll be watching... If only to relive the desert vibes.

It's very late and I can't sleep. I'm distraught that Bernie Sanders has dropped out of the American presidential election process.

I could go on and on...and have all day....but at this point I feel like the world is on fire, and instead or people gathering buckets of water, they are tossing around gasoline.
Uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

I'm here for ya brother, but the truth is the race ended back on Super Tuesday.

While I'm not inspired by Joe Biden in any sense, we have to admit defeat and move on. I know it's difficult because our ideology is more poignant than ever, but Donald is primed to be re-elected despite his distasteful tenure.

I really wanted Bernie to hang in there to the end, but this Coronavirus fucked pursuing any type of pressure towards Joe's campaign.

Despite how awful it feels, the healing needs to begin. I fully expect Barack Obama to finally step in and turn this into a popularity contest and end this shit.

And if it all fails... well, we can say we told you so...

^ I must admit I haven't been keeping up with all the details of American politics, but yes that's sad news about Bernie. And I imagine that will be the last time for him.

Anyone watched Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 (not to be confused with his Fahrenheit 9/11)?
The stuff where all the local Democratic groups just said: "we nominate Hillary" at those big conferences when clearly they had been told to do so, was shocking. In one shot you see a woman holding up a sign saying something like "it's a lie" (I forget the exact wording). And ultimately Bernie went along with it.  ???

Incidentally I was also shocked by Obama's reactions to the Flint water scandal (Flint, Michagan being Moore's hometown) in that film. Pretending to drink a glass of local water and talking about how he had probably consumed things he shouldn't have when he was younger, but he was fine now? And then he repeated the stunt a second time. Crumbs, he didn't do much to help those people did he?
Fair play to Moore for not just saying, "Republicans; bad, Democrats; good". The Democrats didn't look too good in this film.

IT'S MORNING TIME!

I am very much one to say the Dems are as bad as the GOP. I don't say they're the same...they're not. But the greed that drives politicians for money and power is equally present and both factions know how to manipulate their bases. Couple this with them being owned by the same big oil/big pharma/big bank owners of the corporate media, and it becomes terrifyingly sad that more people won't fight against it regardless of how it's stacked against us. And then, of course, so many facets of our election process are archaic for a nation our size in this age.

Don't get me wrong...I prefer the policies of Democrats over Republicans...I just wonder if they're ever actually fighting for them. Bernie would have...but his policies that are standard procedure in most other countries were TOO EXTREME for Americans. Yet Americans think we are the greatest nation, and so we move forward I guess.

Uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
