Maybe some of you are regular BBC 6 Music listeners. If so, then you might be familiar with Chris Hawkins' show and the "Request Roulette" segment at the end of each episode. This means that a song is randomly selected from a list of song requests and played as the final song of the show. Sometimes a theme is suggested for the song requests – yesterday it was "Best Rave Anthem." Unfortunately, the suggestions are only announced sporadically, so you don't get to hear or see what you're missing. Yesterdays pick was btw E-Vapor-8 by Altern 8.
I immediately had one song in mind: Born Slippy. After thinking about it a bit more, i would add HBHG and Insomnia to the list, but i probably still end up with Born Slippy as my suggestion for "Best Rave Anthem."

Since there are undoubtedly a thousand other options*, i'd be interested to know what your "Best Rave Anthem" is?

*Prodigy, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim etc

It's 237!  That's also the best number because it would make you the Turbo Nutter of the deluxe owners

Wanted to answer this the other day,

So my first few selections are based on electronic bangers before I even knew what electronic music was

The Immortals - Techno Syndrome (Mortal Kombat theme)

Technotronic - Pump Up the Jam

and, then when this one was released, is about the time I started to understand there is a specific genre that caters to this type of music and maybe I should check it out...

Fatboy Slim - Rockafeller Skank

You just got a BIG nod of approval from my wife for the Mortal Kombat theme!

My contributions:

(obvs)

And, kind of in keeping with the game (movie) influence:

My first thought was "Pump Up The Jam" but Bosco beat me to it XD

Ha!

So when that movie came out, I was not allowed to see it, nor was I allowed to really participate with anything associated around it. That didn't stop me from sneaking to the the local bowling alley/arcade and watch the older teenagers play!

Any who, I have a unshakable memory of the theme song back when I participated in Boy Scouts and we had our Blue and Gold Banquet. After the dinner, we had a karate demonstration and when they had their big finale -much to our parents displeasure- they cranked the Mortal Kombat theme song. Every 8-10 year old at that banquet went home begging their parents to sign them up at their local Dojo. Are little brains were blown away!

You have to realize we also were in the height of 90's Ninja-kid culture. 3 Ninjas, Surf Ninjas, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, etc...

Good times
