They were certainly a shallow cast of characters and it was difficult to really root for anyone.

I didn't know we were supposed to root for anyone? The main cast reminded me a bit of Succession, where pretty much everybody is a POS.

I'm envious of everyone's dedication for newer releases. I'm so behind (I feel like i've been saying this forever now)...

I rarely go to the movies these days, too. I used to go to movie theatres more often when I was in school in the late 90s, early 2000s but these days, not so much. Most of the time you have these boring franchises and only few and far between that may be interesting enough to justify those ticket prices these days.

Well this one probably does have lots of CGI in it, but it still feels like a character driven story rather than a "sky-beam" type CGI fest. I guess you can tell it's written by the guy who wrote The Martian (book), but it's still pretty good.

I was kind of surprised how many practical effects were actually used besides CGI. Rocky was in fact an actual prop. One was a puppet and one an animatronic version.

Project Hail Mary - Bloody brilliant, honestly. Loved every second of it. A surprising case of "lives up to the hype".

I finally gave in to the constant ads on prime and ended up really liking it, too! Finally a movie again with an extra-terrestrial that is NOT a monster. I've become so tired of the time and again monster-horror motif in alien-themed movies. This was a fun surprise. The only nitpicking I'd have about it is that everything felt so relatively easy to accomplish, like moving the spaceship and communicating.

Why do I mention this here? Because his song Sign Of The Times pops up in the Hail Mary Project - in karaoke form.

Well here's the song anyway. I think I'll always associate it with Project Hail Mary now.

Oh, what a scene! I just love it when songs capture your attention like that. I immediately googled it, too, because I wasn't too familiar with H. Styles as well (apart from a short clip of Wolf Alice's Ellie singing No Hard Feelings live with him).
A little bit of a fun fact: Sandra Hüller sang it because Ryan heard her singing off-set in her dressing room and asked her if she could do it in a scene for the movie. She reluctantly agreed and came up with the only song she wanted to do which was this one. And I say: Good call, Sandra!

Saw the new Spider Man three days ago and still wondering how this could the fourth most succesfull movie of all time
